Heyyyy i am back ! It took me ages to keep going the run -plus my Mistyped run- but i am STILL in the game ! Not giving up, not me ! Just going at my little pace !

Ah, good old Hoenn. Lots of great Grass types here, and more than one Ghost type too, though they are still relatively late in the game. I thought you can get both Lotad and Seedot in Emerald, but I guess you only get one in the beginning since they're both only on Route 102, which is a shame.

Ah, French. I can't speak French, and I apparently sound "much too German" when I recite/sing in French.

Nothing like Hoenn to get a good grass-therapy. Victoria is doing her very best to be worthy of being the 102 encounter, i'm not mad at her.

Hey, it's good to see you back up and running!

Hoenn will be much kinder. You have three grass-types already and none of them are part-poison. Plus I love breloom, it's great, so look after Puffball and she'll look after you in return. Roxanne stood no chance.

Also, the idea that it's the protagonist's birthday, hence all the free stuff, is a great explanation. I always assumed that they felt sorry for you being hauled halfway across the world without any friends in the region so it was kindness born out of pity. :P

So, last time, we left after talking to a guy about Shroomish ! Now, what do we have today ? A lot of travel, some boys in the team, and Gyms !! Let's dive in

After talking on how amzing Puffball is, we find back our BFF Flora-May. I can use the training for next Gym so i take the fight.

Things go nicely, Puffball's Leech Seed is doing miracles. And Flora-May talk to us about a certain M.Marco ? That must be M.Briney's first name ! Marco Briney ! Well, let's ask him to get us to Dewford then !

On the way, dad calls us. See, he cares !!! Also, first thing i do at Dewford is makign sure everyone knows about what is the ultimate cool thing : Grass - Ghost. Won't change a thing for me but the WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW ! Hem, anyway. It's griding time.

Clover and Victoria both get some nice update, and as we are training on the lower level of the cave, here pops a Ghost i completely forgot existed here ! And our first boy ! Welcome to Marley (the ghost visiting Scrooge in a Christmas Carol to warn him about the night he's about to get. Because, Jewels, Greedy, Marley & Scrooge.)

Marley swiped Bastien-Brawly's team, unable to touch him once. It was so funny i just, couldn't time my screens right. Who cares, i got the Fist Badge !.... Is it really its English name, Fist Badge ? I dunno.

With Flash working, i can meet this guy. He seems to know a lot of stuff, would be a shame if he didn't matter anymore as much as he's hyped to be in the third game, hmmm ?
Also. His French name is Pierre. Which is also the French name of Brock. If you thought English names weren't original. Pierre, meet Pierre.

Meeting for the very first time i swear, the Team Aqua. They love the sea. That's it. Catch me staring at the camera. Back to training for Mauville

We catch an Oddish, here name is gonna be Grassette ! That's a carnivorous plant using its sweet, sticky leaves to trap bugs. Nature is Beautiful 8D
Speaking of Beautiful Nature, Move Prop evolves ! Which means we now have the dead empty shell in the team, yeay ! Tomas is from the movie the Orphanage (a spanish movie very nice, both spooky and touching. Maybe my first horror movie. I recommend) Move Pro ended in the box now i can have a full team of my types.

Another team getting swiped by Marley ! But who that is ? Oh yeah, Flora ! Which i completly forgot to screen at the beginning but hey. Marley got my back.

Here is Wally ! I like Wally, so i wanted to be nice and not use Marley. Puffball isn't any nicer than Marley.

I dunno how this guy's business stays afloat. At least in other regions, they give you the bike as a thank you for saving them or their pokemon or, SOMETHING. This guy there ? No reason except, i was walking for a long time. I like you sir, but please, be careful.

FINALLY ! After serious training and cyring to meet one, on road 117, i have the occasion to get a Seedot ! Welcome Chestnut, we've been waiting for you. That means Tomas joins their brother Move Pro in the box, but hey. Who knows when we'll need them !

Two ) However i like that he knows the difference between electrify (électriser) and electrocute (électrocuter yeah it's the same). We know he is nice because he doesn't want to kill us... So please don't kill anyone.

Marley bluffs his way trhough the first one. Puffball uses her new punches and Leech Seed to do the two next, but when i get paralysed everytime right after healing it i decide to just, screw and switch. Clover finishes the fight switfly and here is our third badge !!

Next time is gonna be a toughie as we need to face Flannery and her flames... But somehow, i am not too worried... Right Marley ?

Spoiler: Through the FIRE and F.. Normal ?

First thing first... Beating up a family right in front of their home. For real, i love this family. It's like a. Elite 4 Jr simulator. Very nice of them. Now, i have to get ready to Lavaridge and a LOT of my pokemons are not fans of the place so, training on top of a volcan sounds the best path.

Huh. So that's what a Pokemon fight looks like from the outside... Also, Team Aqua and Magma ??? ALSO Also, is Archie solo-ing 3 grunts at once ? Damn, this guy must be way stronger than we thought.

Oh yeah did we mention Archie is now Arthur ? And Maxie is just... Max. Guess he wanted to be taken seriously in France.

I am still beating his ass with a very close Finish. Reinforcing how painful the grinding will be, plus finding a strategy to let Marley do his work without killing him... And that's where 18 of those 20 days went to. Just. Getting everyone in the right level, and figure out how to tackle the gym..

Barely getting in, Flannery is both threatening and flattering me ? Crossed messages here... Also, her name is now Adriane ! Feels a little less fire, a little more punchy. I like it. More than having to fight her. Now you must wonder, what WAS my strategy ? Well, it revolved around 3 Pokemons : Marley of course, Victoria, and... Tomas. See, i needed a back up fighter to go against the team when Marley is either too down in his HP to do a proper heal, or down on his Flinching moves. Victoria with her Water type was the only one who didn't have a weakness to Fire, and she could also make flinches. Tomas... Is a sacrifice of safe switch. Yeah, my whole strategy was basically banking on flinches to stop her pokemons to do anything. How did it go ?

Tomas had to do its duty far earlier than i wanted, but somehow still managed to survive a whole round. Marley handled the first part, but the Camerupt put him in a dire state...

Victoria, brave girl, comes in to let Marley get healed. The Camerupt sensing i got Water type i guess ? Doesn't even try to burn her. So she uses all her flinching PP to get the Camerupt PAINFULLY down, and Marley comes back in strength for the new Ace. VICTORY !

A minute of silence for Tomas.... You did your part well. Farewell little guy... Okey ! Anyway ! We got shades so let's go to the desert !!

Getting a fossilized root, caught a Cacnea, his name is Saguaro -it's a cactus basically. Aaand, oh yeah, return to Rustboro to turn my root in a Pokemon ! And his name is Welwitchia.... The Welwitschia mirabillis is a plant you can only find in the Namib, and is the only species left of its ORDER. It's, incredibly old, and quite literally the only one of its kind. For now those two go in the box, but i am still glad i got them.

Next is dear old dad, who seems way too happy to beat down his kid. Is that why we keep portraying him as a terrible dad ? Anyway. I am far more confident in THIS match.

Puffball is Mach Punching her way through the pokemons like butter. Nothing too fear here RIGHT ?

...RIGHT ? The INCREDIBLE luck of having 1 HP left, and the Spores of Puffball making the BigGuy sleep.... Just in time to switch.

Sadly, i made a big mistake here. See, Chestnut also had some Fighting move and i thought he would finish him off while sleeping... But Slaking woke up almost on the spot, and Crit-Countered him. RIP Chestnust. Clover finished the job in a swift Leaf Blade. Win. Yeay.

Here is my badge and HELP I AM BEING KIDNAPPED.... Oh no i get offered a HM. Thanks. But uh. I got a Nuzleaf to burry and a Cacnea to train... I returned one last time to Rustoboro to pick up the Multi-Exp, and on our way we go...

Ah, tough luck in Kanto! Things were going so well... but as others have mentioned, Kanto's notorious poison problem is especially present in the two types you've chosen. And worse yet, Parasect lacks decent bug moves in FR/LG... you had your work cut out for you against Sabrina. At least you managed to defeat her in the end, with your trusty HM slave of all things.

RSE should be much more favorable, there's plenty of interesting grass types to choose from! Love the French. Vampigraine is such a cool name. You did very well against Adriane - Shedinja doesn't sound that great this run, given that it shares so many weaknesses with your other teammates. You got this!

Adriane? It sounds much more glamorous than Flannery to my ears, which is probably less-fitting. As much as I like Flannery, she's not exactly the embodiment of poise, dignity and glamour that the name implies.

Arthur makes Archie sound much more noble. He sounds like someone capable of fighting off three grunts at once - probably with his bare hands, too!

You've done well here. Adriane was always going to be tough, but a planned sacrifice hurts a lot less than an unexpected loss. It's a shame about Chestnut, but you've still got a strong team. Lots more grinding to do, but you've got this!

Hey everyone, no intros, i'm hyped, and want to make a bunch of updates. Let's get to the replies and the punching !

We have many cool attack names i think, though some can easily get mixed with other attacks while i try to translate...
Shedinja is such a good concept but let's be real, the amount of time he is a great pick for a run... Can probably be counted on one hand. RIP.

I can totally see grunts trying to send their pokemons and Archie just, jumping above them to go directly bash the grunts. Pokemon fights are overrated, return to fist fight.

I am sad i didn't get the time to find a Leaf Stone for his evolution, wondering if that could have changed things... But i got a good replacement behind at least.

Spoiler: Flying through the game

Last time we left, we had a Surf HM and a new Cacnea buddy to train. Our next goal is again, a potential run-killer for my fruit babies. First thing is teaching Surf to Victoria, who will officialy be the Water HM-Slave (considering her current moves, it's actually a very good coverage goign on here) and onto the next road.

First, get a Tropius. Her name is Banane. She's a good girl which i will study a lot to be ready for the Flying Gym. She's also gonna join the team at least for now, as Puffball being Grass and Fighting, this gym sound like a suicide trip for her.

Miss Shelly. I mean. Miss Sarah.... What a downgrade, huh ? Not even talking about the glowup she gets in ROSA. Sarah... Hem anyway. Clover destroys her. Seriously guys, i need a serious training before going to the Flying Gym ? No one can offer me a challenge ?

Oh, hey Flora. You will do perfect !

Failed to catch Pelipper aka Bekipan getting to 0, but you get the gist. Marley stays a MVP, he's gonna be very important once more... As a reward i find a Leaf Stone. Sadly, i don't have a Nuzleaf to give it to anymore...

So Grassette gets it ! Saguaro also evolves, getting ready for the battles to come ahead. Battle which is coming now... And i absolutely forgot to capture the start of the fight so, for info : Winona is now named Alizée. Which pretty neat cuz, Alizé is a wind.

Tylton = Swablu. Many of Marley's attack would have been inefficient, so Banane took charge of it. Then Marley jumps in, get the Skarmory and Pelipper which is failed to screen. Then... Tropius and Altaria are playing swappies, I need to heal Marley, Grassette jumps in and Acid to death the Tropius.

Altaria does NOT like to have their swapping partner anymore, and leave Grassete with TWO HP. By MIRACLE, Grassette survives to put the Altaria to sleep, and let Marley come back to end the work once more. Here comes the Feather Badge. I am overjoyed to have no loss.

To keep the joy, we now have FINALLY not ONE but TWO new Ghosts. Miss Mary Shaw the Shuppet caught on Road 121, and Ling the Duskull in Mt.Pyre. Mary Shaw comes from the movie Dead Silence. Ling is a ghost in the Singaporean movie The Eye. A very nice trip... Oh, yeah, and i guess the Mt.Pyre got robbed of two colored orbs by team Magma and Aqua, and i should go raid their bases. Oh, and another battle with Flora, but i showed you one alreayd and the second one goes exactly the same way so....

Yeah. Let's raid Team Magma's base with my new ghosts and Vic. I don't even know what they want to do here, but surely this is something reasonable, they realised the volcano was too extreme and they'll return to-

COME ON, Waking up GROUDON ? REALLY ? Move over Kelvin ! What you don't know Kelvin ? That's Tabitha of course ! I don't even have a screen about this fight, i just really wanted to show you his name. I surf on his team and join Max.

I am... flabbergasted. A BLUE orb, to wake up the RED Pokemon of Land sitting in a pool of RED MAGMA. Even your UNIFORM IS RED !! And you're surprised he doesn't wanna stay ? Sure ! Blame it all on lil' ol' me, let's fight.

Marley is in a terrible duel with Crobat, the most dangerous of the team. But after that, Victoria flood the cave and pokemons with Surf. So useful to have a pokemon with a Water Move. Too bad you couldn't learn one BEFORE FLANNERY HUH ?... Anyway. Team Magma. Check.

Next is Team Aqua, also in a very subtle and hard to find HQ. They should be more cautious with a Master Ball in there !

Finally i get to fight Matt... hieu. Matthieu. So piraty. He warns me of how much stronger he is than the other grunts i met so far, which must be why i tanked all over them. Sadly, Arthur still goes away, so i guess we will surf across the sea to find him back... on the next update though ! This one has already been quite busy.

No current team update because... i am further in the run than the update shows, and considering i was trying to get everyone in a good level for the next gym, they kept circling in my Pokebelt. I have no idea who was in my team at this moment. I could guess Marley, Clover, Banane, Ling, Victoria... Maybe Mary Shaw last ? Or Saguaro ?

Always good to see an update with no losses, especially considering it has Winona and a crobat. The team's looking strong, RSE has been much, much, kinder to you than Kanto was. Two new ghosts and some evolutions, as well as surf, yes, you should be fine here. I'm rooting for you!

Kelvin's a decent name for a member of Team Magma, at least it fits the heat/fire theme they've got going on, although I'm still not sure what Matthew has to do with pirates. Oh well.

Alizée, huh? Nice name. I remember there was a French singer called Alizée when I was in high school. "Moi, Lolita" was the only song of hers I remember. I was convinced that listening to French radio stations would help me to learn the language... I'm not sure it did, but it was still good to listen to different types of music. Daft Punk obviously got a lot of play, along with KYO, Shaka Ponk and Tarmac. Those are the bands I remember, anyway.

5 Days ! That must be my new record of update. Also should be a pretty big one. The second last if i do it right. We will stop the stupid plans of those two stupid (affectionate) teams... Yeah, affectionate cause. As much as i roast them, i actually love a lot Team Magma and Team Aqua. Sure, after Team Rocket in the first two games their goals are overdramatic and silly... But it works. It's endearing to watch them bicker over what is better between Sea and Land. Like there was an actual good answer to this. I like them, and that's why i lovingly sass them all the time. Don't worry, i will sass most of teams.

Fun fact, while writing and doing my translation stuff, i learned Winona comes from the verb to winnow, which is an old way of saying to flap wings. So. Theme of puns completed in English too, just. Too old to be understood i guess ? 😂

Yep, "Moi Lolita" has been the only big success of Alizée, she tried making other stuff but it never caught as well. Also, good playlist you got there friend ! Kyo (like the artist Julien Doré) have that special talent of having lyrics being so metaphorical, even for French speaker they don't make sense.

You know, it has been a while since i started an update with some evolutions... So... C-C-Combo !

Three evolutions !! One needs to prepare for a Double match. Well, two. Ling and Mary Shaw were part of my big 4 for Tate & Liza, after Marley and Saguaro.

Oh yeah, Tate becomes Levy and Liza become Tatia... Confusing, but at least now the pun is in the right order. Also i love the trope of twins talking together like this, as old as it is. It gets me every time, specially when it's used to mess with other people wondering if it's natural or staged.

I don't know about you, but when i have to make Duo battles, i tend to gang up on one pokemon until the second one is all alone. Very much bullying, yes. The draw back is giving me heart attacks... The last two pics are in the SAME. TURN. Saguaro stayed up from the tip of its needles to end Solrock.

Quick healing, and back tu bullying, this time Xatu, then Lunatone.... I am very disappointed that it isn't Lunarock or Lunrock. Why aren't they matching anymore ??? Anyway. That's one new badge for me. Mind over Matter, and Darkness over Mind ! Now back to Team Aqu-What you mean TEAM MAGMA ?

... Okey so. Guys found a God Continent Pokemon in a volcano, and after waking it up with the Blue orb. They want to blow up the volcano just bc who cares ??? ... Sir, i don't care if you are a big doctorate or whatever. That's dumb. Let me beat you up to see how big dumb you are.

"We can't blow up the volcano just because we want... We can't control a God Pokemon after forcing it to awake... Are we the bad guys ?" WHAT DO YOU THINK ??? (I don't know the actual official translation here in English, but i'm pretty sure mine is better. Anyway. Team Aqua.

On the way, found a Blue Shard to get a Water Stone, and Victoria gets to be the Big Girl in charge. Just in time to face Sarah-Shelly again... No seriously. I think the French Translation team prefered by FAR the Team Magma. Tabitha becomes Kelvin, Max and Courtney stays (almost) the same, neat. Team Aqua has... Arthur, Mathew and Sarah ? What is Water or Pirate about ANY of that ??? Even she sees it, look at her laugh !

Catching up with Arthur, he also has a darn Crobat, but now Ling can tank and punch it. And for the rest, Saguaro is a Swiss Army Knife. Anyway now that i have beaten you you can't do something stupid like....

...Using the RED orb for the BLUE pokemon of the Sea... I am surrounded by stupidity, OH YES ! Act surprised to learn drowning the world is actually dangerous !? Who could have foreseen this ?! That's where i decided this update would be called Big boys, Big dumb.

No joke, the Victory Road grind is by far the moment i hate the most in Pokemon. I remember as a kid i didn't finish most of the games because i just didn't have the patience to make it and faced the Elite 4 with way underlevel pokemons.

This place needs somewhere for trainers too, we are the one walking in the dark getting lost. Oh well. Shop too. And let's go. Elite 4.

OUR TEAM IS : Clover of course with Leaf Blade and Dragon Claw, Victoria with all the Water HMs + Ice Beam, Puffball with Leech Seed, Giga Drain and Brick Break, Saguaro with a Insect and a Dark move plus Leech Seed, Mary Shaw with Will O Wisp, Shadow Ball and Thunderbold and Ling with Shadow Punch.

First, Sidney - Damien. Do'nt ask me why Damien is Dark... Is it jsut because they start the same ? But no, in French Dark is Ténèbres. IDK MAN.

Puffball Brick Breaks them all. No chances for them to do a thing. I am so happy to have caugh this little Shroom back in Petalburg Forest. And have kept her alive so long. Next team.

Spectra for Ghost Type. Yeah no that makes an easy sense... Though, when i remember Mt Memoria, i mean, Pyre. It didn't give me such... Beach vibes. Heh, it might have been winter.

The first three are rather easy, Mary Shaw outspeeds them and her Shadow Ball strikes through them.

However, the second Dusclops is far tankier and has time to put Mary Shaw in troubles. So when the Sableye arrives, i switch her to Saguaro in hope his Bug move will do the work... And although he did some damages, he wasn't fast enough to survive it. RIP Saguaro. Victoria closed the match.

Glacia for Ice, make sense. Not much to say... I'm still crying Saguaro. This littel grey Pokeball is just breaking me. Let's go, no more casualties.

Mary Shaw handles the first Sealeo with a thunderbolt and a shadowball, then Puffball comes back for another round of BRICK BREAK. Well... Ice Break ? Work is done, and only the most dangerous of them to face.

See, that is one of my favorite name change here. Not just because Aragon sounds close to Dragon, but it is also the name of a poet, Louis Aragon, who has written during resistance in the WW2. It goes so well with his personnality and what he tells us about Freedom and Virtue.

Victoria's Ice Beam shines through most of the battle, though she needed a bit of help from Clover against Kingdra who didn't care as much for the Ice. She also handled Flygon bc she had violence in her heart. A Superb work indeed.

And now for the Grand Final... Oh hi Marc ! Thanks for NOT HELPING last time. I'll take your title of Master for that ! Well, Champion. SAME !

Clover Leaf Blades the Wailord, and Milobellus... Though he leaves her out of breath and definitely not ready to face a Tentacruel. Mary Shaw Thunderblots him, but that was close call. Victoria Ice Beams the other Ludicolo. A touch battle as you can see. I heal her in front of Whiscash... I didn't know it had Hyperbeam.

Rip my girl, you've been there from the beggining with us, very first catch. You've been loyal and friendly, and carried us through the sea like no other.

Clover comes back to avenge her very first Poke-friend. Facing the Leviator however she leaves the room for a healed Mary Shaw who almost one shots it with a Thunderbolt. Almost. The Hyperbeam terrified me, but by a miracle, the pure determination of Not Dying that inhabits this little puppet, Mary Shaw endures it and thunderbolts it again, finish the match. Finishing this journey.

The Pokemon i've sent to battle, the ones standing and... The sacrifices of Tomas, Chestnut, Saguaro and Victoria.... I owe them everything in this journey.

Clover, Mary Shaw, Ling, and Puffball. Seeing you bloom through all this journey has been an honor. As for me... Well. I wish i could stop there, but another region needs to see the talent of Grass type and the beauty of Ghost type. I trust you guys with Hoenn. You could stay with Flora if you want.

Really sad to lose Saguaro and Victoria at the end though. Victoria especially was around for a long time.

As for Cyndaquil, well if you really wanted to you could always add Arceus to the list of games to play so you can use Hisuian Typhlosion.

Saguaro and Victoria gave their all to help your team on to victory and their sacrifices have not been in vain. It always hurts to lose someone so close to the finish line, but at least by winning, you've made them champions too.

Johto next? Excellent. I love Johto. Chikorita's not got it easy, but you can get early ghosts and grass-types, so you should be able to build a decent team early on in the game. Good luck!

Hello hello hello ! We are on a roll here aren't we ? A Defeat, a Victory... And we jumped a generation. So, it's time to tie the loose end and hop in the Johto region.
Also, because i've been resisting doing anything story to learn how to make Duotype and the UCL... now seems like the type to get some upgrades in the story telling too. Let's say i am trying new things with the format.

R : "I'm not sure Val can help either you know ? A lot of Flying type are also Normals, Ghost attack won't affect them..."
🌺: But Curse will. Once the Curse placed, all you need to focus on is keeping your pokemons alive and well.

R : "I... I can't believe it worked. I got the Flying Gym done ! Heh, thanks for the tip Sol. You know stuff, for a talking flower."
🌺: Don't thank me yet. It might have been a tough type match, but it stayed the first Gym... Oh and. I think your phone is ringing.

Witherbloom, now with talking characters ! I think it's the first time i play Johto without Cyndaquil. Falkner and Bugsy are tough first types to fight with Grass type, so i'm extra relieved to catch a Gastly so early on. The Curse strategy might be used again for Bugsy if he doesn't learn anything better. By the way, Valdemar comes from Edgar Poe's novel The Facts in the Case of M.Valdemar. Like Rebecca, it isn't a ghost in the most traditionnal sense, but i still find it very interesting in what a ghost CAN be. Maintained conscious through hypnosis despite his body being dead, M.Valdemar is very much a ghost haunting his own body.

Alright! That's as good of a start as you can hope for as a Grass/Ghost in Johto! Well, I guess you could have picked up a Hoppip before the gym, but Hoppip would hardly be useful against Falkner.

Just who/what is Sol, and why are they a flower and yet encouraging our protagonist to use Ghost-types?
