"No matter what I do, I do it just for you."
With a decent bag of success in FireRed Omega and the recently finished Ruby, I’ve decided to take on the one Nuzlocke challenge that has consistently eluded me… HeartGold. I’ve tried my damnedest to Nuzlocke the game, but my interest always seemed to have petered out before the last gym prior to the first Elite Four, and for a long time I was reluctant to come back to it.

That was until I ended up seeing Moxie2D’s recent Nuzlocke attempts of Platinum. What caught my eye was that the Pokemon were random typings. I mean, randomised Nuzlockes are not an unheard of concept, but what sold me was that Electric Mudkip. Suddenly, my interest in re-Nuzlocking HeartGold, this time as a randomiser, had shot back up because it helps keep things fresh and adds intrigue in not just what you could get, but also what typing and ability would your new member be and have, respectively. Sadly though, I can't draw.

So that is why, starting this November, I’ve decided to document what could be my final attempt of HeartGold, which is basically win or bust.

The following has been randomised:
  • Abilities – Must follow evolutions, trapping abilities banned.
  • Types – Must follow evolutions
  • Evolutions – Predominantly the same, although "Change Impossible Evolutions" had been invoked
  • Starter and Static Pokemon – Random Completely
  • In-Game Trades – Requested/Given Pokemon, Nicknames/Items Randomised
  • Movesets – Random Preferring Same Type
  • Trainer’s Pokemon – Random, Rival Carries Starter, Randomise Trainer Names and Class Names
  • Wild Pokemon – Random, Randomise Held Items
  • TMs – Random
  • Move Tutors – Random
  • Field Items – Randomised, Bad Items Banned
  • Miscellaneous Tweaks – Fastest Text, Lower Case Pokemon Names, Randomise Catching Tutorial
  • You have to catch only the first Pokemon for each Route.
    • Species and Escape Clause allowed.
    • If in Safari Zone, I am allowed to potentially catch one Pokemon in each area.
    • Gift and Static Pokemon can be allowed.
  • If the Pokemon faints, it results in the Pokemon dying.
  • You must name your Pokemon.
  • If you lose all Pokemon in battle and white out, I'll leave New York... and I'll never do another HeartGold Nuzlocke again. (The second part is the truth.)
  • Set Mode 4.0 = Live Free or Set Mode.

With those things out of the way, it's time to announce the dates. I'll aim to update the journey on Wednesdays and Sundays (since for me they are relatively free days). With the Volt White Squadlocke still in limbo, and the recently finished Ruby wearing me out due to me not allowed to have healing items and being forced to have the same amount of Pokemon in the party, I just want to try and have an easier Nuzlocke to help calm me. After this, I'll consider taking a brief break from Nuzlockes when it's all said and done.

Randomized runs are always a blast to read because you never know what will happen! Good luck with your challenge!

Well, after some unreliable internet issues, the first Chapter is officially here!
Randomized runs are always a blast to read because you never know what will happen! Good luck with your challenge!
Thank you. This is the first time I've done a randomiser where the typings can change, so I'm hopeful that it goes well. Time will tell, though.
I’m so excited!! Following!
Thank you for following.
cjiSZJH.png

Here we go again with this...

16DBIjJ.png

I could've sworn I've randomised this game... maybe this is just set as standard, I don't know.

lYnaQes.png
9RmMG4p.png
FwsqPqO.png

I'm going to be honest, if Kris was there instead of Lyra, I would've picked the girl option. Since she isn't, though...

QGAhWjz.png
xuXDN6q.png

Went with Akira because it was the first thing that popped in my mind.

q9aJfQX.png
6ajv092.png
PAJtucu.png

Making my way downstairs, my mom informs Akira that Elm is looking for him.

Q6qJjUQ.png
Fa68Z6w.png

After getting the basic essentials and changing the Battle Style to 'Set', we were ready to go.

Me7XMjH.png
IiqQ2Vi.png
7QNpHUv.png

The more I see this Marill, the less convinced I am that this game is randomised.

OjeWVLW.png
ZzASiLU.png

Anyway, into the lab we go!

eBAnc2x.png
khzysS0.png
jUJ6XB9.png

Huh. Maybe Lyra might be a descendant of one of those legend trainers from the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

urePuUo.png
4rBZ1fr.png

I'll certainly need to keep that in mind.

tPXjPNt.png
48hhvkP.png

We're getting close to seeing what lurks inside those Poke balls.

xBo8zhZ.png
L4ayO3g.png

NhFZu0y.png
nybTpC7.png
Fk3Q2xn.png

Long story short, Mr. Pokemon has a special item to give, so Elm decides to make Akira the errand boy.

0QkUB43.png
FfbTkFZ.png
QVuv02z.png

Here goes nothing. Let's see if I've done the randomisation correctly...

X2LzZlT.png
nB9K1EI.png
detz0ct.png

There is an Arceus... anyway, we have Sealeo, Poliwhirl and Shellos. I'm sure all three of them are decent choices overall, but the typings change the game for each and every Pokemon. Who knows, maybe Gyarados would actually become a Dragon after all.

However, to make it a true randomiser, I've decided to let the wheel pick for me.

RkCMRZk.png

Well, that settles that. Poliwhirl it is!

zHbOaOx.png
E6q2X1y.png

And since she's a girl, I named her Toni.

aKuKao2.png
Cw6BtN5.png
jHvAkaf.png

Elm allows Akira to take Toni to Mr. Pokemon's house, whilst giving him access to the healing machine... which will admittedly be useless once you get to the first town that has a Pokemon Center. Still, the gesture is kind.

9PwK50d.png
GHkPeF1.png
WQ3OHU1.png

After being given directions on where to go, and given some Potions, it was time to check on Toni.

3S7CbRi.png
B1S8G5B.png

Anyway, we have Toni, the Ice-Type Poliwhirl, who has no Ice moves to work with and Drought as an Ability?!

Well, I've chosen her, so let's just see how she goes. Surely she's not going to fall at the first hurdle, right?

1ioTUh5.png
3Ue16XQ.png

Well it's no Poliwag, but yeah it kinda is cute.

NmXtqeN.png
jeq9pS3.png

Yeah, maybe I should. I mean, this is the only other game besides Yellow where you can talk with them.

ZI8JQ7r.png
1Fphat6.png

I'm beginning to realise why I'm not very fond of Lyra. At times she forcibly holds your hand through this game, and other times she drags the pace down to an extent. The only thing that might save her is if her Marill is not actually a Marill.

zBOryYQ.png

I guess the wind feels a lot cool around her.

Y44xujf.png
Ansms4e.png

Nonetheless, I reluctantly do what Lyra tells me to do just to progress the game. Otherwise, I'd just be stopped by some random NPC.

QtH0Avc.png
NqD24ri.png
qX8MUmk.png

Akira explains about the task of seeing Mr. Pokemon past Cherrygrove City. His mother surmises that it's overall important.

X5CAoe4.png
IeQENnj.png
sylTxOK.png

Meanwhile, Akira gets the Pokegear, which means that we'll be bombarded with calls from random people, along with mom revealing that she'd spent my money on essential items throughout the journey.

CuhSELP.png
R0SB0lF.png

NuQMMYt.png
ot7j354.png

After that, I had a brief refresher on how the Pokegear works. In fairness, it's been a while when I last played HeartGold, so forgive me.

JKR9GPW.png
7A6xyft.png
VtyJoA9.png

Just when it looks like we'd be on our way, Elm stops Akira and gives him his number in the event something happens.

LZyWZpB.png

Finally, we get to start our first mission.

BJj11Cf.png
dw0CiZt.png
FhJ24aO.png

Of all the things I could've got as the first item, I never would've thought that it would've been an incense. No matter, it buffs up her Hammer.

t8ds7RG.png
yF4VzDi.png

And it looks like Toni is picking up some levels as well after dealing with a Weezing.

d539Azq.png
I31nXdy.png

Arriving at Cherrygrove, an old man suddenly stops us, unwilling to move unless he has his coffee.

6l4zZsm.png
vwzgmsv.png
X5JDC4S.png

I'm lying; he shows Akira the sights of Cherrygrove.

mRu0IM1.png
9xFiLgF.png
piNYEAO.png

Oh, along with Route 30, the sea, and his house for some reason.

3KOYSRL.png
OF3A8KH.png
c9oWljQ.png

After that guide around the City, the 'Guide Gent' gives Akira a fresh set of Running Shoes. At least we didn't have to get the first Gym Badge before getting them, right?

sYqHS0C.png
qKPMD7k.png

I've done three Nuzlockes on this site. I know how to sprint. Thanks, anyway.

LEg2X8R.png
NhvbeVj.png
rpA3Ehz.png

After making Toni jump over the counter to get healed by a Nurse Joy...

t9NHr3y.png

...it's evident that Toni must be full of something. I'd say Poke beans, but those didn't come out until Gen VII.

ID6vsx9.png
AGchgl3.png
1W3klxt.png

Oh, the Gent decided to give Akira a Map Card for his Pokegear. I'm guessing they wanted to combine the map and other essential things into one Pokegear.

sNUR3yB.png
w48d81L.png
RJeqmL3.png

Come Route 30, and we pick up a Smooth Rock, and a not-so-unexpected Apricorn Box because the game thought it was best to make things less cluttered. Again, it's not a bad thing, but there's no way to say no. It's a bit like Cynthia demanding you to take the egg in Platinum when you're trying to get into the bike shop; she just won't take no for an answer. Hopefully that isn't foreshadowing later on in this Nuzlocke.

a8qU0FO.png
gusft6r.png
WyqDGxs.png

Anyway, after taking down a Walrein, Toni got to Level 8 and finally learned an Ice move.

Qd8uchR.png
bDIOGEB.png
64aSUSo.png

After picking up the first berry of this Nuzlocke, Akira comes across two potential future members of this Nuzlocke. Who knows if he'll get the chance to catch them later.

jkL7Bkd.png

Oh, and Apricorn.

hXW2gqV.png
cJQ4KRn.png

After entering Mr. Pokemon's house, Akira learns the shocking truth that virtually everyone saw coming.

eMkTMJY.png
HctsBga.png

oItqn2H.png
Uda4hu5.png

And he wants Akira to give Elm the Mystery Egg so that he can examine it. The bigger mystery is what kind of Pokemon would be lurking inside? It could quite literally be anything ranging from a Kangaskhan to a Dodrio, to maybe even a Dunsparce. Who knows?

Et3veiq.png
OqeLiXQ.png
1TDOq2k.png

Wait, is that why Professor Oak is standing across the table from Akira and Toni?

Or4aPzh.png
0MWT4bh.png
g0gnONg.png

She probably doesn't need it, but sure.

Anyway, after what felt like two minutes of rest, Toni woke up...

ur8Jzsh.png

...and Oak was one of the first people she saw.

mrgmbyq.png
DsQVEYu.png
0ryuqO5.png

Yeah, he wanted me to collect that egg, so Elm gave me a Pokemon to save me from being mauled by an Arceus.

INn59zC.png

Dependable? Yeah, sure.

FWEZgii.png
Cqmad6M.png
4EEFrWA.png

Oh, a Pokedex! That's what you meant. Also, I find it weird that Oak is the one giving out the Pokedex instead of Elm.

9MYssAK.png
km9OXr1.png
LfSEw81.png

I can see Oak is doing his best to get by after the events of Rocket Edition, I presume.

vt5exxH.png
RHUVD9r.png
EC0dc58.png

Oh, and as a tradition with Professors, Oak reveals his number to Akira.

QejWbvs.png
DkGUCJb.png

It's no problem. I'll hand him the egg.

ZL5W53a.png
LMxS0kG.png

The moment Akira got out the door, though, Professor Elm rings him. Judging by his reaction, he must've been trying to figure out how the Pokegear works.

JIm6gHF.png
93l01TR.png
kLzLrLY.png

Oh, okay. Maybe he spilled some of his drink on his computer. Either way, Elm's in some sort of trouble. Come on, Toni.

qwFwQ9n.png
gur6YGo.png

Okay, she doesn't know what's going on. Oh, and sidenote, got the Apricorn before getting to Cherrygrove.

oOSbf7k.png

Just as we were about to leave, however, a red-haired kid was about to enter.

0PclQSY.png
mbcg8cx.png

ipnvEUQ.png
Z3XTsoj.png

Oh, like you've got a Pokemon that's better than mine.

NknL0VJ.png
wzPnpym.png

3qhf6Vp.png
OZJfsBp.png
OZ6uK2F.png

Well so much for this rival being taken seriously. His starter didn't even last a single hit.

mw5BTpi.png
xxeHBDK.png

Yeah, just as I thought. He's a bargain basement Red.

5rKjYn4.png
BLDM7B4.png

That doesn't answer who you are.

dKgc4P2.png
XG35klY.png
NIbbIbV.png

For someone who aspires to be the greatest of all the trainers, he sure can't keep his Trainer Card, can he?

jSCwEZe.png

How can you do that when you don't have a mouth, Toni?

iHbREJt.png
7FTxQoV.png
7hjoPR6.png

After picking up another Apricorn, which is apparently a part of our life now, Akira returns to New Bark Town, about to give Elm the egg when...

OwZMXzw.png
Y7B5RnP.png

l7HqT0o.png
77rGL2a.png

No, Officer, I can explain about--

CfgVBTr.png
B9bT9sn.png
Lb3bIBq.png

Fortunately, Lyra comes to the rescue and absolves Akira of any suspicion. That's one good thing about her.

z3b897m.png
oxXlyg1.png

I wouldn't quite say 'battle', but yes I did.

XpDjBNS.png
9loHvN1.png

It's a rare case of the game deciding the name for me. Might as well milk it for what it's worth.

K0FqAtQ.png
4xIfz9H.png

Fz4c95W.png
m0uqoSa.png

With the issue dissolved, the officer and Lyra subsequently leave. Imagine how different this game would've went had the protagonist went to jail (or at least juvenile hall) in the beginning.

pPUN7ou.png
WBWonSx.png
rvuVUOF.png

Akira gives the Mystery Egg to Elm, who is perplexed with the never before seen egg. He better not think about eating it, let alone cook it.

a8lfDOs.png
Hmpipcg.png

Fortunately, Elm is interested more in researching where and what the egg came from.

xn4iL85.png
j70Xgxx.png
o4kWCws.png

Yeah, but did overlook his own grandson due to the supposed lack of love he had for Pokemon.

6QeBi5R.png
Od9rxut.png

N2XNjbt.png
CHE7K8R.png

Well, that is if I get that far. Many times, I've just stopped suddenly, so I might as well give it my all for the potentially last hurrah.

h8jvZwQ.png
5yvXR9r.png

vFnIv6r.png
eEkrm5D.png

Admittedly, I've had longer, but I presume Johto will be no different. But my main focus, anyway, is to get the badges and see where it goes from there.

KsaGJ2v.png

Right... I wonder how she'll react to the news.

8xlLbeY.png

Yeah, just as I expected.

eDaEJcp.png
7DJz523.png
bNZqHZB.png

Wondering how she could help Akira, his mother offers the idea of saving some of her son's prize money.

1VrqJEy.png
aK16iif.png

I decided to be kind and say yes to this option, mainly because she actually can get some good items with the money. I'm sure I'll find a way to make some good money considering this is randomised.

cWNq65H.png
yUSU7B3.png
KV8Ocn6.png

Akira's mother gives some parting words of advice where teamwork with Pokemon is essential to making it to the top of the world.

fjMhRkT.png

And with that... it's time to finally begin the journey.

...

LjnToaE.png
2Rp2Wn0.png
gQ9GBAF.png

Lyra shows us how it's done. Oh, and we start to build the team, of course.

This Pokémon is trying its best to fight the good fight.
A noble start! You seem to be hitting a lot of super effective moves, considering the unreliability of...everything. So that is auspicious!

Next time: Arceus get?

And here is Chapter Two. What new Pokemon will get to join Akira's team? Could any of them be Arceus, Arcanine and/or Weezing? We shall see...

Sometimes, it pays to be pragmatic in Nuzlockes. And I'm not sorry about that. Also, I'm hopeful that I can get an Arceus, but who really knows what I'll get right now? I'm just gonna have to work with what I end up getting.

I'm hopeful that she can carry the team, but the fact that she has been saddled with Drought, which makes her extremely vulnerable to Fire Moves, could make her a liability. Since she is my starter, though, she won't be thrown into the box anytime soon.

Thanks for commenting, and fingers crossed that an Arceus or Arcanine comes into my pathway.

Lyra decides to move on from the embarrassment of trying to catch a Phanpy and just give Akira some Poke Balls.

FoQvpWf.png

I wonder if we can get a Phanpy of our own...

NwW0Gq8.png
6tOFlJr.png
E1bBAJk.png

Eh, close enough I guess... I don't recall using a Spoink before in a Nuzlocke.

MhBP4Jp.png

Especially a Flying one?

9n9001W.png

Oh, and I named her after one of the most famous pigs.

pWOrND9.png

Next is the Route 46 encounter. Can a Flying Spoink be toppled?

el9Q8TR.png
nbdTVwc.png
A8V8b52.png

Okay, Krabby's not bad. I could use her as a HM Specialist, which would certainly free me over wasting one of my key Pokemon being forced to learn the dreaded Rock Smash or Whirlpool to name a few.

XG1RHpf.png
TILqhKc.png

But a Normal Krabby? I think Babe is a better catch so far. Anyway, we've got Vanilla.

nebuVms.png

Next is Route 30. Who do we get in this grass patch? An Arceus? an Arcanine? Something else that's cool? Or just something else?

pcat1va.png

An Electabuzz? Not bad at all!

LILPxPU.png
QXNJ7OU.png
79AX2sT.png

Good news, Electabuzz has Trace, which can copy any Pokemon's Ability. Bad news, he's another Ice Type.

Sv4KCx7.png

But he's part Dragon, so I say he gets to stay for now.

3u33zE6.png

Going off animal names again, I've decided to take a page out of The Jungle Book and call him Shere.

OQWJH0V.png
XYmJwi5.png

With the new members healed up, it's time to see what makes each Mon tick.

YZt43db.png
VOBo6r5.png

While Babe's only move is Razor Wind, she also has Pure Power, which helps the power of physical attacks. The sooner she learns another attack move, the better.

mMIYCIY.png
pHwXQVm.png

Vanilla, meanwhile, has a strange Ability in Multitype, which allows her to change type with a Plate. Could she be an Arceus in disguise?

tlJUN9x.png
9Ty6Hkz.png

Last is shere, and he has arguably the best Moveset, with Spacial Rend and Blizzard playing to his typings for one, while Double-Edge being the double-edged sword.

xddWzKt.png
s2OgNsl.png

Then it was time to train the members up. For a Krabby that wants to lead, why isn't Vanilla looking at Akira?

ccxd7vF.png
6FC3vGl.png
NAG5bp7.png

During training, we came across a Tentacruel, a Shaymin and a Huntail. Why are you making me regret getting a Flying pig, game?

K9H4UFn.png

I have to give it to Babe for having heart.

1qCP59i.png
jFp0vpO.png

Geez, slow down, Shere! Oh, and Babe finally gets to benefit from the Pure Power.

bOQ1kGY.png

Moving to a new area to grind, Shere celebrates by spinning. I've seen worst reactions.

o3wu4yR.png

Oh, and Vanilla learned Mimic. It's at least something.

WkPd65I.png
5yhlYYh.png

mofmWXc.png
Uvc2sDu.png

And here's how the team looks after getting to Level 9. All of them have potential, to say the least. Babe needs to learn a Flying move, Toni needs a better Ice move, Vanilla needs a Plate to take advantage of the Multitype Ability and Shere... doesn't know when to stop learning powerful moves.

s0STCUx.png
2aiVBmG.png
33ZHoAo.png

After healing at Cherrygrove, it was to get to the next town, where Akira started facing trainers.

2gCLnRS.png
OBhSuNQ.png
dDOcu8d.png

First was a so-called Man named Stacey... who is clearly a Youngster, period.

7EGA3Un.png
mK6hZ1U.png
JC9GaHT.png

Okay, how on earth did Stacey score a Kadabra at Level 4 and lose? Wouldn't she-- I'm sorry, HE, have been one of the tougher trainers to bring down?

NscMuSZ.png
7SsxT35.png

Stacey decides to give his number for Akira to register. For the record, it's going to be a recurring bit in HeartGold, so you've been warned.

MlFwbOS.png
bOPJ6BG.png

Then there's another person claiming to be a Man in Donna. Maybe it's short for Donnatello.

Rp9H3t4.png
njslxrE.png
g7OBnaT.png

As Babe takes Happiny down with a simple Slash, Babe finally gets to learn a Flying Move in Air Slash.

aVN75bo.png
7PMR5Tx.png
ylC1Vj6.png

Then came a Magmortar, which could've been scary had he been the similar level as Babe.

UWlMcNi.png
Ka3FONN.png
wxHpFuc.png

After switching gears, we come across another trainer, this time claiming to be a Botanist. Well at least he's not being a quote-unquote Samurai this time.

cG2L2cU.png
OzDcKxl.png
00Q5tNp.png

Perfectly blunt, I don't think I deserve a strong Dragon/Ice Pokemon like Shere. Oh and sidenote, I declined the idea of making Shere learn Mist.

mktqrW7.png
Xrf0V0T.png
5HaX1Sp.png

As I shifted gears yet again, I looked at the two Poke Balls, and I decided to head back to Cherrygrove to get some more.

Jkqm8RQ.png

Then it was time for Route 31.

i9fUWmh.png

I'm guessing that I'm going to encounter plenty of Legends in this Nuzlocke, aren't I?

AXhFwbV.png
Mhx4Rfk.png
WNsbXVk.png

Naturally, Celebi proved to be a prickly pear, to the point where Toni had to be healed up inbetween the attempt of catching this legendary.

NFjkIQO.png
WlPDD8m.png

Unfortunately, Celebi thought that dying to Poison was a better fate than joining the team. This sadly could become a theme. Toni, what do you have to say for yourself?

YkGvoJu.png

677WnVZ.png
IpYVhiS.png
gCurR4O.png

After picking up a Luxury Ball, Akira entered the Dark Cave. Hopefully, we get better luck this time around.

Q4TnzMV.png
ccqqKxt.png
Xc5Phd2.png

I'll take it. I've had so much history with Persians it's not even funny.

3UHNSnZ.png
0HlS6CF.png

Okay, we've just caught a Jynx in cat form. But I called him Mynx since he's a guy.

NwI89Kf.png
sC2lyxG.png

Despite being yet another Ice type, Mynx does have a surprisingly good movepool and Effect Spore.

GRhWMeA.png
2Nh5Az0.png

After picking up a Razor Claw, Akira eventually found his way back out the cave.

Z1pKTHk.png
Cmq173H.png
k15c2Xi.png

After heading back to Cherrygrove and equipping Mynx with the Razor, it was time to bring him up to speed.

rl6t04Q.png

After turning down the idea of making Mynx learn Sunny Day because of obvious reasons, Mynx proved my theory right by learning Ice Punch.

YCN62CB.png
GILQXGG.png

After healing Mynx, I decided to get rid of Sheer Cold, mainly because it wasn't worth holding on to until Level 30.

7HCgPiY.png
MCy75cN.png
fyEvsCH.png

Picking up a Dragon Scale, next was another Botanist in Kimberley. It was time for Mynx to shine.

HoKc4w7.png
Q0o9qJy.png

O7nVDbC.png
f2UtqUE.png

Mynx ended up taking down a poor man's Persian, a Dragonite, a Magmar and a Heracross. Granted, they were all well below Mynx's level, but it's still impressive.

ujlgUKw.png
aavkXwO.png
GmuCTRg.png

Following the match, Kimberley gives Akira her number as Mynx decides to take on the ground next.

ucGg0aC.png
CdRpiIW.png

Switching Pokemon again, Akira makes it to Violet City and...

915G9GL.png

"You broke her heart... you broke her heart!"

Qy7gB86.png
p4B84e4.png
gYjTakQ.png

Oh wait, never mind. She's just giving a Key Item. Maybe that might come in handy if I get bored grinding.

Note: Lyra died on the way back to her home Planet.

Anyway, Violet City, and healed up.

VPpvKwe.png
a7Xf8Y7.png
z8QZgSL.png

Then it was time to enter the Sprout Tower.

8VdQMXa.png
kKXnHtT.png

And apparently every Sage has been replaced by an Engineer. I'd love to see how they can explain how this Sprout Tower works. Oh, and apparently Antoinette shaved her hair to prevent it getting caught up in anything.

t4bFEvp.png
QYFl55u.png
xa3tu4r.png

Vanilla took down Feebas and Blaziken (although he needed two Stomps to be taken down) and gained a Level.

pqeIq8H.png
DU4nxqG.png
phZN2ip.png

Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that Porygon-Z is a Ghost now, so Babe came in to finish the job. Had Antoinette just levelled up her Pokemon, maybe it would've been a more interesting battle.

5GI8ktl.png

vbBdvF5.png
LAuOWTp.png
ydz749h.png

I need a palette cleanser. Or in this case, another female Engineer who shaved her head.

pIceS8J.png
CugjXph.png
Y80EZYj.png

Vanilla had less of a problem this time, even managing to bring down a Haunter.

rAOK0sv.png

Thank me? Thank me for what? For a Normal Krabby that swept your team?

CLC82uU.png
rLaLVYW.png
aDL3R9X.png

After picking up an Icy Rock, then came another Engineer, this time presumably named after a city in New Zealand. That, or something beefy.

oolIG8H.png
eQ9FIWC.png

Vanilla started off by bringing down Stantler with a Stomp.

87kmnlX.png
fN14bhG.png

Next was Marshtomp, which was where I decided to send Mynx in.

Qp6l9vR.png
2vnidQM.png
2h7oITu.png

After withstanding a light hit, Mynx took the Marshtomp down with an Ice Punch. Unfortunately, Mynx subsequently got burned.

cf79ONX.png
qQJv7UK.png
C57rBRU.png

Then came Azelf. At first I wanted to see if Mynx to bring the legendary down. Sadly, due to the typing, he couldn't do it.

k2QhuBf.png
7eT7Rxq.png
VuARp1b.png

Shere managed to bring Azelf down with a Spacial Rend. Had Wellington, New Zealand, just thought about training his Pokemon, well, see fellow Engineer Antoinette.

eHPJuU3.png
THcmacE.png
yhMDnLJ.png

After healing Mynx, Akira made it to the top Sprout Tower, where he found a Safari Ball.

Owx5lvR.png
MpdAI2e.png

Then it was time to return taking down Engineers. First was Esteban.

3XHTq56.png
ooz9BgR.png
8jrkM59.png

Drifblim was no match for my Mynx. Oh, and Esteban rhymes on a dime? Happens every time.

9HPfBRe.png
pLAEby4.png
bqhhAIU.png

Mynx has finally been rested, before we continue to get further then get stopped by Engineer 3.14159.

ouL4yKh.png
Jrf60Fg.png
1R0CnjS.png

No matter how many digits he has in his name, it won't be enough to salvage poor Dustox.

cpWJP5q.png
KIaZ8mH.png

As we got to Engineer Malcolm, however, it looks like Mark is up there. What on earth is he doing?

XMcFJZL.png
9hKmhHF.png
OVAx87f.png

Shere managed to bring down Lickitung with ease, although he initially struggled against Staravia before bringing him down.

7hW0XbS.png

I've decided to heal Shere before considering the idea of bringing Toni in.

9tTeaNE.png
D2J5DYH.png

OhaB2jK.png
SQz51sh.png

Geez, Mark, what have you done with your Pokemon? Surely Lisa isn't on your mind, is she?

LPrPeQ3.png

Stop trying to be like Red. You're never going to be Red. There'll never be another Red.

BdDeYYQ.png
gtIrvSL.png
MRhAGyW.png

And yet you didn't last a single turn against Toni.

Yjf9T2S.png
y6NuUvD.png

I can't wait to see Mark's ego get blown to pieces.

c4OmDbm.png
HMtT6PF.png

Mark decided to use an Escape Rope to leave, since Akira was blocking the other way...

jlSf1tP.png
Wz2txYL.png
QwJMyIa.png

...while Shere took matters into his own hands and brought down the Carvanha. Had the encounter happened much earlier, maybe I would've been more inclined to catch her.

2SINmdG.png

How come Mark got an Escape Rope, while I merely get a single Shard? Care to chime on things, Shere?

bU7aTvY.png

Yeah, you'd think the Engineers would've been onto that by now.

driRccF.png
125r2I8.png
Ptr9f2z.png

I see. I wonder if a bright future could exist for my team...

S9F7Rvi.png
gABD4cy.png
IwYTwzo.png

And so Jonathan is the last test, but this time, he's a Weightlifter. Judging by the way he dresses, he sure does look like one, doesn't he?

rJSZjxm.png
1zvXBKI.png
9Vym6in.png

Largely because of Shere in front, Jonathan's Pokemon couldn't do the heavy lifting.

EpknIJH.png
dyuawCn.png
FdAW6l7.png

But what does it matter, I passed the test with flying colours! Falkner, look out!

F5iSZRa.png
RMmprcg.png
tupNreD.png

Well... if anything, whatever the TM might actually be, it'll at least be TM70.

rKYSCFP.png
gtN0Nzw.png
Ndh6Jav.png

Be that as it may, why is it that of all the Pokemon that can know Flash, Bellsprout is your go-to example? Is it just because you have those statues all over this tower, hence the nickname "Sprout Tower"?

KiArc6t.png
6gUBKOx.png

Yeah, good luck trying to light up a cave using the TM Snatch. Why did Flash have to be the fall guy regarding HMs?

oJnUBPv.png

Time to get out of this place...

...

RkyC8x3.png
lfbvW9y.png

Clefairy and Relicanth attempt to enter their way onto the team. And Falkner is our first target. Can we overcome him?

...

Surviving Party Members: Toni (Ice), Babe the Spoink (Flying), Vanilla the Krabby (Normal), Shere the Electabuzz (Dragon/Ice), Mynx the Persian (Ice/Psychic)

This Pokémon is trying its best to fight the good fight.
How terrifying is it not knowing what you're facing, even after you've seen it? You're doing great, but these foes seem so overwhelmingly inscrutable!

Following a disruptive-free internet day, here's Chapter 3! And following this episode, there will be a tally based on the trainers I encounter, and the typings of the known Pokemon in this randomiser, which you can find on the first post.
Randomizers always make things interesting, and this one's set you up with a good start. Hope things keep going well!
Thanks. It's not everyday where you get an overall good squad to work with. The main question, though, is "How long will that good start last?" Fingers crossed, anyway.
How terrifying is it not knowing what you're facing, even after you've seen it? You're doing great, but these foes seem so overwhelmingly inscrutable!
I'd say very. Knowing this game, there are several Pokemon that can be on par or at a higher level. But throwing in the randomiser makes it virtually unpredictable. Who knows, maybe a trainer will have that one Pokemon that will end my run just like that.

But thanks. Here's hoping the team keeps going strong.
VQyysu5.png

Finally out of the Tower, it was time to take care of things before facing Falkner.

eGiIYuR.png
WpdS7FO.png

First I went to the Mart to get rid of that Rare Bone. That's one way make $5000.

iHVySMf.png
hcIKJDq.png
KlKnIVT.png

With that, I was able to pick up 10 Poke Balls and Potions, with the Premier Ball as a bonus.

fjgL11r.png
iSWEmyp.png
kvMVExv.png

And after healing the party, it was time to welcome the next member to our growing team.

Vc7lmsQ.png
Bikf2ew.png
idSMe8I.png

A lovely little Clefairy... that's a Dragon? I'm not complaining...

5ddUebY.png

In my defense, that name was the first thing that came to my mind.

uHjMtxS.png
nJX0ioR.png

Outrage and Dragon Dance? Geez, it feels like I'm spoilt, especially considering this is my second Dragon Type.

4B8y4HP.png
1zMvCq9.png
d1Yw1r7.png

Then we entered the Ruins of Alph, which is hopefully not named after that one guy in the blue shirt who makes videos about Mudkips. Then again, he did lose to a Groudon in his recent Nuzlocke...

7Uz8HkA.png
1AewSS7.png

Anyway, here's our next encounter, a Relicanth. Strangely fitting. Toni manages to do a good job in lowering the fish's health, so the only thing left to do is catch it.

8LCziKh.png
5Fy7lN6.png

Sadly, Relicanth thought dying was a better fate than joining the team. This is going to be a theme, isn't it?

xbCZpVB.png
nobIJmE.png
f8h27q8.png

After that debacle, Joy heals our Pokemon and now was the time train the team up. Dolly, I hope you've had a good sleep, because it's time to grind.

0EsSFLd.png
oPO8xsS.png
QPESIqh.png

Dolly, come on. I'm sure you want to become strong.

7clDds8.png
tvbJKl2.png

During training, Dolly takes a page out of Shere's book by learning Roar of Time, while also learning Curse. I wonder what a cursed doll would be like on our team...

Ic1G0CR.png

Oh yeah, and Toni learned Fire Blast. For the record, she's still an Ice-Type, but at least she finally has something to benefit her "Ability" with.

UTVgvBr.png
PEpe5Jd.png

And after healing up, it was back to Dolly's homeground to continue training.

UghidF5.png

The only thing to note, though, was Dolly learning Protect. I will say this; she has one hell of a moveset at this Level.

nC6J1wI.png
LMjBy9h.png

After healing one last time and arranging the team, it was time to enter the gym. Let's see what music we get for this Gym...

nXjd7Ru.png
fhsi0au.png
kOsBrIp.png

Okay, shoot.

yTBF2JN.png

Yeah... let's just see if Falkner has any Flying Pokemon first, though.

xhlDE4l.png

I just love the spirit Babe has. It does make sense, since she's a Flying type now, though.

XrOKsIy.png
jRI3MDS.png
456fOan.png

And so we get on the platform, where it shoots high up to where the Gym Leader is waiting. It's not very OSHA compliant, though, judging by the glass pathways and the dollar sign in the middle where two trainers are waiting. I mean, seriously, there's a great chance of falling at a great height and suffering badly from it!

2BwNwp3.png
nF0XmK7.png

Maybe so. I mean, everyone on the ground look like little Durants.

Cnsx4qD.png
Ond1hsu.png

Am I supposed to buy that this guy is a dancer? Name one real life dancer that dresses up like he's waiting for a bird to rest on his forearm.

Zgfuwxc.png
8HoiYt0.png
Y6WY27N.png

Yeah, that's clearly not a bird. Anyway, Babe manages to take down the Ninetales on her own, despite taking some serious damage.

XDJTcJn.png
DY1VeYP.png

A Flying pig that takes down your Ninetales high up from where you are? It's true in this Nuzlocke. Meanwhile, Babe has been healed up.

LgzmJh6.png
hrOO8L8.png
XzC2BLr.png

Actually, I'm pretty worried about that. I don't want to die before getting my first Gym Badge!

3awXKEV.png
OdcKm7B.png
UDxKxAh.png

And there's another quote-unquote Dancer in Tristian. Honestly, I buy the Bug Catcher being a Botanist a whole lot more, since they're normally in the forests.

ozhqIoo.png
LTvhNnn.png
dVrUkSu.png

Smeargle, of all Pokemon, was the first one out, and I already know that he's strong against Flying types. Not that it helps him, though, since he's frail and underlevelled.

FPd4nn3.png

And Babe learns Ice Beam. How is that a Flying pig knows a better Ice move than my starter?

d97bJ7A.png
EOYXlzT.png
uQVpIp2.png

Next was Sunflora. Sadly, he's a typing where Babe is useless against him.

NPikpP8.png
lPa1Itt.png
6zM96jh.png

So I decided to bring Toni out and let use Fire Blast... which reveals that Sunflora is most likely an Ice type.

wwCr3VV.png
9YZC3gA.png

As Dancer #2 falls off the platform trying to retrieve his Pokemon, I healed Toni up and placed Babe in the back.

IRXzIua.png
MdInct5.png

It's nice to see Dolly sharing the same enthusiasm as Babe, because it's time to take on the Gym Leader.

BVILAKy.png
zRcr28v.png
bfqleDd.png

Actually, you pretty much can. You can also use Ice and Rocks, going by Pokemon logic.

NyLX9kk.png
Zcl9ylI.png

Okay, Big Bird.

wGcA4AR.png
unhHJi2.png

I mean, Jacqueline. I'm gonna have to make a name guide for virtually every trainer for this Nuzlocke, aren't I?

pSe4WcI.png
X6b9Z1i.png

First out was Hitmontop, on his head like he should be! Sorry, I'm rambling. Anyway, I decided to send Dolly out, because I wanted to try something.

D1dFo8Y.png
xMIVtmR.png

What? I decided to do the Dragon Dance technique because I wanted to see how well Dolly can sweep the first Gym. And of course, that tactic had a glaring flaw, besides Hitmontop preventing the idea of switching if things got extremely hairy.

...

...

...

...

...

pYMMQPB.png
SM0fCnA.png
VlJ78BK.png

Hitmontop nearly took Dolly out after a crit Horn Attack. So of course, I needed to heal the battered Dolly.

hCPmRUK.png
BDlCTc6.png
2IIa3lh.png

Eventually, after using Potions and six Dragon Dances, it was time for Dolly to prove my tactic right. She does this first by bringing down Hitmontop with a buffed Outrage.

OFu8XVH.png
PfCPBhL.png
QgpYLGy.png

Then comes out Torkoal, and Jacqueline boasts that the game will turn in her favour. Maybe if Dolly didn't buff up with the Dragon Dances, she would've been right.

anIyPKn.png
GBnpqyX.png

At least Jacqueline knows when to fold them... knows when to walk away... and knows when to run.

JhbgVjd.png
07AzQf9.png

But sadly she doesn't know that those two Pokemon are not her Dad's birds.

ax2OsvO.png
MRxMEsM.png
amB1k4v.png

Jacqueline gives us the Zephyr Badge, along with the TM for Haze, which is the new TM51. So much for that being very useful, then...

RfCv7cH.png
2IaKcLu.png

I hope that town isn't named after someone famous with Azalea in his or her name...

hGwdxjk.png

Well, you should be; you didn't just win, you swept Jacqueline's team!

But in all seriousness, this'll probably be the only time I'll rely on that risky tactic. It's not a bad one, it's just not the most tenable to use on a Cledragon.

yGE9iqf.png
HWv1plA.png
oLifPLu.png

After getting down in the most unsafe way, the Gym guide encourages Akira to keep it up.

ibdtqHo.png

Just as Akira is about to set off, his Pokegear rings.

H6PVMZq.png
0fKeeL2.png
oDx56b3.png

Professor Elm rings and long story short, wants Akira to carry the Egg to see what hatches.

mOV4ZZp.png
Grhvfa5.png
HAK1HnR.png

As the Assistant is waiting in the Poke Mart, it gives Akira time to heal up and bench a Pokemon.

8mafbrE.png

Don't worry, Dolly. I'll come back for you.

HaS3bBE.png
JTQbQAy.png

Heading into the Mart, there's a man who has an important package to give Akira... and some deliveryman in a red outfit.

x3SAMmj.png
CsHqT2t.png

The deliveryman gives Akira a Super Potion, which certainly will come in handy down the road. Thanks, Mom.

Ob2zJjq.png
Mdd2cv0.png
mL5ZyHq.png

Yeah, sure. I guess I could take it off your hands.

EGaIZxC.png

Remember that this is a randomised Nuzlocke. Quite literally anything can come out of this egg, ranging from a common Pidgey/Rattata to a legendary. I just don't know what's in there.

5uFN2ZA.png
4xCxAu5.png
fYsvy67.png

8eELolz.png
ya81k80.png
xuWpoHP.png

kdMwJpg.png
pARAtgP.png
z4Ap531.png

It's admittedly the main flaw I had with carrying the Egg; it takes up one spot of your party, when it could be for someone else. At least I'm not being forced to take the egg in this case.

xCHMdjt.png
OZbQIpN.png

I'll do my best regardless.

s3e1HsB.png
ySdTppV.png

As Mynx decides to frolick around the Mart, Akira picked up some Super Potions.

86TG27h.png

Then, to quote a song from the band Chicago, along comes a woman.

Yeah, it was a very complicated process back then.

After the Kimono Girl wanders off, and briefly looking at the egg, it was finally time for Akira to venture further.

Bct4Rw5.png
w0k7eVk.png
J0YAUWB.png

What do you think gave it away?

The guy rewards Akira with a Miracle Seed after his recent victory against Gym Leader Jacqueline.

OsmFXZo.png
s24zBOc.png
TxbVIht.png

Inevitably, we came across the first trainer of this Route, in another man, this time one named Mike. Took them three youngsters... oh, and he has an Azelf. Oh joy.

T0KGsc0.png
9URjfoX.png
zNRijKv.png

Fortunately, I had a Pokemon that can deal with that monster, and Toni killed it with fire, and lots of it!

Lbg6Crc.png
4PRq3FL.png
H7ZlvLZ.png

And Slugma. Taking out one isn't rocket science.

AzgjFzh.png
Xr1lYhz.png

After adjusting the lineup, Akira later came across a Dire Hit. Maybe if things are bad in battle, there can be some use with this item. I've just never believed in using them at all in a Pokemon game.

8kVmZaJ.png
H5W1SMi.png
uG6OaF0.png

You know, for a Rich Kid, she doesn't dress the part, does she? Yet she does have a phone, so...

IHz0yr6.png
y6izLj9.png
KfCKT99.png

The randomiser nearly got her Pokemon right. It's just not the right gender.

kPAP5ho.png
FENQOVs.png
9dwMSqD.png

Sure enough, after comfortably beating a carefree Landon, Akira gets her(?) number.

zAvYy87.png
790AvlC.png
fT88ise.png

Taking the dock road, Akira comes across supposedly two writers. Maybe they like to fish to get some ideas rolling.

bmvBOkJ.png
19w3XpS.png

Mynx started off against a Seel. Despite the two shots, Seel took two hits to bring down.

O6BFKD4.png
oCPFREw.png
g4Y8EJn.png

Raichu, however, got hit by the crit bug. And I decided not to teach Mynx Hail.

oSQExyp.png

Ron Howard already directed that movie. Have you even seen it? Because I haven't.

6w1AVHA.png
dr5qCUI.png
TgHwaY2.png

Meanwhile, Lillianna is upset over Akira for making her lose the fish. So the natural progression is to get into a Pokemon Battle, of course!

hbHZzLe.png
TtDTcfP.png
0Kt0bFv.png

Shere starts off and tears Hitmonchan a new boxing glove with Spacial Rend.

8aFagU8.png
XqHiRVs.png

Next was Meganiu--oh never mind.

VBjjD6v.png
ZTg9PNS.png

See Meganium for references.

Fw78vwc.png

And last is an Espeon at LEVEL 15?!

Hub5Ivo.png
fXCw8JI.png
hlmLmZe.png

As it turns out, Spacial Rend isn't the answer for everything, especially considering this venomous Espeon is a level higher. Oh, and on top of that, he poisoned my Electabuzz.

Qppef33.png
BlAGPrw.png

Shere decides to take her Espeon down simply with Double-Edge, while Lillianna imitates her sinking feelings.

2AahtA6.png
kmB8yXd.png

While I didn't quite have Antidotes, I do have Potions. Hopefully that'll be enough to tide over Shere until we get to the next Pokemon Center.

rEP8LIP.png
KeG5YgV.png
jJR52c9.png

Then there's another writer in Jimmy, who has an Exploud.

6W3IUgY.png
Oz1PRw9.png
4vCsyA0.png

Vanilla managed to take down an Exploud without being dealt lots of damage. It helps, when one Stomp flinches your opponent.

grlHyVn.png
PuzK6q1.png
QUu1nTh.png

Jimmy, however, takes it in stride as he made, and I quote "a younger friend". At least it's not all doom and gloom.

dRQ687j.png
0DjNy6i.png
mopqeng.png

Getting back to land, Akira comes across another Man in Kristine. I see we're back to form with this type of trainer.

DDC7SzV.png
iMudnW4.png
lzoPiL6.png

Is it weird that a Kirlia is more of a man than Kristine, or is it just me? No matter, Vanilla picks up another easy victory.

D8hR8du.png
H5mKXhP.png
Msgsgqb.png

After adjusting the lineup, Akira picks up some unopened bottled water on the ground and the TM for Lucky Chant. Sadly, we know what Whitney will give us now if we win.

KS049RN.png

Finding those two items made Shere run a little on fumes, so I boosted his health with a Potion.

BLchA4D.png
lCV4qun.png
hgJwZLT.png

What is it with my randomised Nuzlocke getting dark for no reason? First that random bone found at the Bell Tower, now some guy trying to sell a Slowpoke Tail at the same price for a Bike? What is this randomiser coming to?

p1fCYkN.png
mAUKxb3.png
YKGlYgm.png

After that segway, we finally made it to a Pokemon Center, and everyone is fighting fit again!

q4fQj8L.png
Uvtzh0q.png

And then the fisherman gives us an Old Fishing Rod. Knowing this Nuzlocke, I think one might be enough for the time being.

zLkK8zU.png
wvHvysy.png

Following this, I reinstated Dolly in place of Shere to give him a break. In other words, a Dragon for a Dragon.

GwE4STs.png
4rQlkSU.png

Is it wrong to say that I love Babe as a trainer? This little Spoink is winning me over.

Anyway, this is where this Chapter ends for the time being. Join us next time!

M0fpKKz.png

SLOWPOKE TAILS ARE SLOWPOKES... is a plot twist that everyone can see coming. Can Akira and his party get through the revived Rocket ordeal in one piece?

Surviving Party Members: Toni (Ice), Babe (Flying), Vanilla (Normal), Shere (Dragon/Ice), Mynx (Ice/Psychic), Dolly the Cledragon (Dragon)

Members in Waiting: ...Egg?
The next Chapter will come Sunday.

Congratulations on the badge! Honestly, the bookkeeping required by your typings lists is simultaneously tempting and horrifying. You're brave!

Am I supposed to buy that this guy is a dancer? Name one real life dancer that dresses up like he's waiting for a bird to rest on his forearm.
I'm sure I saw that on Eurovision sometime.

Here we are with Chapter 4. With an old foe showing their face yet again, how will Akira and his team fare?

EDIT: I just realised that I unwittingly posted this before going through the replies. Sometimes I am such an idiot. They are up now, though.
@Lumaeus
Congratulations on the badge! Honestly, the bookkeeping required by your typings lists is simultaneously tempting and horrifying. You're brave!
Thanks. I decided to keep a track record of them while I was doing this Nuzlocke, so stay tuned to see what shows up and what typings they will be.
I'm sure I saw that on Eurovision sometime.
Huh. Maybe they were inspired from HeartGold after all.
ElOYSIM.png
xJO9nEk.png
Vt6K5UY.png

Realising that there was some unfinished business, I returned to Violet City to make a detour.

dOEMK5s.png
Ld7RqS2.png
w6uOplg.png

It's not even 10 shots in and I already regret picking this thing up. For those who are wondering, it's Rock Smash, and I consider it unworthy to be an HM compared to Flash, which should've been utilised more.

t5eKeOu.png

Yeah, unless it has the same power as Strength or Surf, I'm not buying that it'll make Pokemon faint.

iseyYpU.png
MTGxhTZ.png

After that egregious sidebar, it's time to officially continue this journey.

PUBhjFc.png
M6gWQW8.png
hyWcxRs.png

Yeah, that's why I've come this far, Kimberley.

PlxhyII.png
zNrDhQe.png

First was Taillow. Who needs a bird when you have a Flying pig?

Vi1qQ4K.png
pwnzI2p.png
JmcylK3.png

Then was Gliscor. Unlike Taillow, he required two hits to take down.

oon3Zf7.png

And Babe learned to speak.

UDuuiQB.png
JPsjSkC.png

Last was Castform... that doesn't know how to adapt to the weather.

3KySVL0.png
51n6c4a.png

Either way, it was a cloud Babe tore through.

fhQpOOL.png
KTdIBd8.png
y7Uei6a.png

Putting Dolly in front, Akira entered Union Cave, where it was time for an encounter.

UG2etBk.png
ayrkerO.png
u9Hn5L9.png

A Forretress that isn't a Steel type. You can tell by the animation of the Poison Fang.

Z11VhrE.png
LTyW5YZ.png

Okay, a Psychic Forretress. Maybe down the road Crete could be useful.

NDVODyd.png
xsC9p5u.png
ZRzUfY7.png

Oh, and I decided to make Vanilla the HM Specialist. After breaking through a stupid rock, we found an Icicle Plate.

CfbkLW9.png
pbFMqj5.png
BPb1sAd.png

Remembering that I picked up an Old Rod, we managed to quite literally reel in a big one.

EkCLPUF.png
axhADcP.png

Unforunately, a power-hungry Dolly revealed that Slaking was part Dragon.

KZIEZ2b.png
LC10wck.png
WHm9Pf9.png

Dolly, we're not going to get anywhere if you keep killing our encounters.

tHpe0KB.png
LkaMXVw.png
yjjYOkh.png

Anyway, after healing, I took a look at Crete, and he has a Hardy Nature, Poison Heal and Psycho Cut and Luster Purge as his main attacks. Not a bad Pokemon to consider.

PQbsIJb.png
hnAanBY.png
AylRMQm.png

Don't worry, the feckless and muddled exposition is over and done with, and now it's time to venture into the cave. The first challenger is a Rich Kid, who spent a good deal of his money looking like a Magmar. Honestly, this is the title change that has made the most sense so far.

P0fj43k.png
mjZZvfg.png
qErCQFw.png

He managed to have a Bellossom. Since he took two hits to bring down, it might be fair to assume the Bellossom's more than just a Psychic type.

uSCQaiM.png
rN015Vc.png
9AIXOuE.png

Delving further into the cave, Mynx decided to take down a Weezing.

BImpKdu.png
H9kSf2j.png
EUqGH4K.png

After picking up some Glasses and the TM for Flatter, Toni was put up front.

pfDfdwf.png
37xHAGD.png

A female fan in the shape of a Hiker? I wasn't expecting a Spaceballs reference this early.

tRNxJcQ.png
ECkGbWI.png
LbFb1vl.png

Anyway, Toni brought down the Sandslash with a Fire Blast, and learned a new Ice Move. Sadly, Babe still holds the best Ice type move in the team so far, with Mynx being a relatively close second.

nbIgY3h.png

Then it was Vanilla's turn.

9mU4a2E.png
VSwh6bQ.png
t3wDXWY.png

I already did a Spaceballs reference, why would I do it again so soon?

STjicKP.png
5xwXeYI.png
3EclG9D.png

First was a Nosepass, which went down with a Stomp.

WHrewFs.png
cehzC5g.png
Yg6HVbi.png

Then came an Exeggutor, which also went down with a Stomp after being flinched with the first one.

PWikIXT.png

During this, Vanilla learned Lock-On, which can help make the next move guaranteed to hit if successful. As seen in the video below.

aOz5RFT.png
XP6WH25.png
Z2lktIE.png

And last was a Caterpie. One Rock Smash was all it took to bring that worm down. Following the battle, Babe returned to the front.

ih3jXRB.png
weEv2WN.png
5fudw0b.png

There was another Rich Kid, this time complaining about Zubats spamming Supersonic. That's at least something I can agree with him on.

MaNA0MU.png
M553Nzf.png
snyYubX.png

Well, thanks for coming, Cristiano.

WgJ4OyD.png
YPZGVCP.png
6oRwdLK.png

Putting Dolly back in front, Akira continues to find new items, such as a Blue Flute and a Power Herb. Thank goodness that the bag space situation has been relatively solved in Gen IV.

TqLdKKb.png
VvTiJX8.png
suVpyuw.png

Next is some Manager also named Cristiano (two in a row?), but he looks like an unofficial mascot for some kid's store who lost his shirt gambling.

BOXb8pc.png
nCBHDg9.png
u0cgncB.png

That said, him carrying a Charmander isn't out of the ordinary. Just keep out of some Caterpie's sight, Manager Cristiano.

8Xu9N45.png
hnLA1Vi.png

After picking up a Rawst Berry, Akira exits out of the cave to return to a warm happy glow of unseasonable rain.

710Z7RL.png
UITODXy.png
vm9FDbl.png

Wouldn't blame you for feeling tired, but you should get out of the rain. You could catch a cold from it.

Jx8Kvv0.png

Yep, a Chansey is our next encounter. Finally I don't have to try and catch one in a Safari Zone and fail miserably at it.

7heNaWn.png
OkLVf7O.png
ePU85zg.png

But Roost and Megahorn? What kind of typing is this Chansey?

ItSF2rT.png
lc9xSpX.png

Oh good, she's weak to Rock Pokemon. Anyway, her name is Glenda.

QZkVVDC.png
wWGaljq.png

Just when I thought Akira was out of harm's way, this Fan pulls him back in.

BJdZtHZ.png
zNee4to.png

Shinx was just a mere pushover to Dolly.

CwtTqwW.png
wTiH47I.png
EWOLYoI.png

Bronzor, however, evidently took a page out of Giratina's book with Shadow Force, which did catch me off guard.

UWelj2I.png
nJYqsU3.png
eLmvwON.png

Dolly had to be healed up before finally being able to take the Ghost shield down. Outrage is one hell of a drug.

mM3OGYf.png
dWNXr7P.png

Lawrence gave Akira his phone number, intending to tell a heartwarming story to him. If I have the time, I'd be happy enough to listen to it.

ZKLAXZF.png

Oh, and Dolly learned Dragon Pulse. Enough said.

s1ScMPh.png

And so we arrive at Azalea Town, with the rain no longer striking down? This game is weird sometimes.

Ms4bsMh.png
OC3Tpr3.png
GpSjYgX.png

Oh, and here's Team Rocket. It seems like they've fallen on hard times after Giovanni left; not many people are aware of them still being around.

VxJja5v.png
o1sE3lS.png

If that's the case, then why don't you get the face back into Team Rocket?

9LldxYw.png
KRF5mKG.png
nc6x92l.png

Ah yes, the dreaded shove of death.

ex9EVVd.png
032heZa.png
pppIeBG.png

Dude, I was within earshot and saw you shove a civilian.

oNUMNyW.png
TnHsDUG.png
1J40C7I.png

Finally arriving in the town, it was time to heal.

fFuI8CY.png
U8Wsb17.png

Despite the poor weakness to Rock and the not quite useful Run Away ability, Glenda does have Megahorn and Roost. If a spot opens up, I'd be willing to welcome her with open arms.

bIHNhpp.png
bKkumRb.png

I've ultimately decided to bench the Egg for the time being and bring Shere back along with giving him the Icicle Plate.

5Yq7BKa.png
RH2EQhB.png

With that taken care of, it was time to further the Rocket plotline.

FN2iGOf.png
Uq7HK9V.png
bzMDzbo.png

8EPVW6q.png
F8cqsUK.png
AJ3Kqhs.png

With the Ball-making business put on hiatus, Kurt reveals everything we need to know about Team Rocket, before he comes to save the day.

gnnzqG3.png
lTbIPRj.png

It doesn't feel like this game is giving us good supporting heroes right now, is it. I mean, Kurt just left his granddaughter behind in an attempt to save the town.

ZSxqDEK.png
b7cO84c.png
ek6wqq0.png

Anyway, we follow Kurt down the Slowpoke Well. I wonder if we'll actually get one as an encounter. Then again, knowing this randomiser...

R7i5LQM.png
PdaDU47.png
12EYYO6.png

The supposed hero going down a hole and suddenly hurting his back, ending his chance to be the hero. Where on earth have I seen this before?

Dvv4R98.png
q5j9Wwh.png
cJxgyTB.png

So a young kid and his Pokemon are entrusted to save the town yet again? Typical.

vYVszPc.png
JlHmPpe.png
6PTd0BM.png

Oh yes, perfect Pokemon logic; whenever an old man forces you down the cave, instead of bullying the man himself, bully someone well below your size!

dGCHckR.png

This is our first experience against a Rocket Grunt... who appears to have been a former Ranger. And you'll never guess what he has in his lineup.

vOVhNNl.png
Z5ysgbR.png
qvzJJBs.png

Yes, you're not seeing things. He actually does have a Latias. Giovanni's pet puts the legendary in her place.

keG9c5j.png
SPwtpww.png
YHvLhoL.png

Then came Graveler, and I initially worried when he resisted an Ice Punch... until the boulder caved after a Psybeam.

Eb2QX6m.png

Believe me, I've had worse days than you.

VWKeQvi.png
kN0Ioy6.png

Hey, free money! I've decided to start it over with Shere, and let it rotate from there if necessary.

aiAbwC5.png
0X7Qlkr.png
PlrFJ4Z.png

It hasn't stopped me before.

DPFFFqU.png

Also, it looks like Kristine will be the most common name in this Nuzlocke.

eNTMazj.png
KDI9WdX.png
yiaz3c6.png

Shere managed to make mince meat of both Kristine's Seedot and Corphish.

yFaXUVj.png

I just can stop finding these sort of berries, can I?

sgqbQsU.png
5d0fupO.png

I think Team Rocket's reptuation was already destroyed when a ten year old kid defeated your boss three times.

Oh, and take a wild guess on what this Ranger's name is going to be. Go ahead, I'll wait.

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

Lx7iwQB.png

You all thought I was kidding that Kristine would be the most common name in this Nuzlocke, didn't you?

ORGVtKP.png
YT3AJuo.png
VIXWraI.png

Anyway, Shere manages to mow down Tangrowth with ease. He didn't learn Slash, mainly because he already has a great moveset.

QU0wtWN.png
5QN2PMN.png
LkN2nhk.png

Granbull and Cherubi became another statistic to Shere.

7AABVxA.png
ylNiqlm.png

Shere trades the Amulet Coin to Toni as we get to the uncomfortable part of this game.

cUsFy3x.png
GuBEJrW.png
NnqkxJg.png

Yes, Slowpokes with their tails removed, but one of them appeared to have been part of Kurt's family... those Rocket bastards have to go.

eINrK5h.png
DVTu2by.png
U56R9dE.png

I don't care if you're considered the Arceus of the Rocket revival, you and your cronies have to be stopped!

OeKMgSj.png
Nkntjcw.png

Apparently Proton's real name is Jimmy, and Jimmy identifies as a woman now. It's a randomised Nuzlocke, just go with it

zBipHaD.png
4cGjxzO.png

A Rocket Member having an Ekans in her squad? Been there, done that.

TjrL1eV.png
XMwMfo4.png
Yoj1sql.png

And out came a Poliwag. It's kind of weird that he managed to get a member of the Poliwag line as well.

gJjxAyl.png
esiKLlh.png
r1kWuc2.png

But after one Fire Blast, Jimmy's bacon was cooked.

sUvoN0W.png
S5LkxEG.png

jzy1hZy.png
W9NGIlN.png

You don't understand Pokemon logic, do you, Jimmy?

E7Qs2FX.png
iLYwRgp.png
Nxgbiov.png

Anyway, Team Rocket use the Run Away Ability, as Kurt - who may or may not be lying about his back - arrives. I think he might've been a Torchic.

AK6DeDe.png
c9kb5lk.png
5em4qOE.png

They're not very competent, are they?

CMCohML.png

Why? They don't have a death star lurking about.

T76rZ4n.png
5FkWuf3.png
I0KgLw9.png

After saving the day, Akira is given a Fast Ball from Kurt for his trouble.

2LDwkuU.png
rx6SfDA.png
HC1arlY.png

After giving Kurt an order for some balls to make, and registering his number...

S1NOr9w.png
cIIbpl3.png

Akira said goodbye to the one he'll probably miss the most of all... Scarecrow Slowpoke.

However, there was some unfinished business in the well.

hvXJVWA.png
3SBav6P.png
xbc6qqz.png

We came across a Bellossom, who fell the same fate to Celebi and Relicanth. Thank goodness I'm not doing a Catch 'Em All gameplay, otherwise this would've been one of the worst ones.

CcBhQ6C.png
dJzZBpM.png

After that, it felt like a decent place to call it a day.

...

sNDFotB.png
Uhj18ag.png

A cockroach Bugsy is next on the chopping block. And could tragedy strike in the next Chapter, as the team attempt to head to the next town?

Surviving Party Members: Toni (Ice), Babe (Flying), Vanilla (Normal), Shere (Dragon/Ice), Mynx (Ice/Psychic), Dolly (Dragon)

Members in Waiting: ...Egg?, Crete the Forretress (Psychic), Glenda the Chansey (Bug/Flying)
I'll aim for the next update to come Wednesday, but with the internet likely to be worked on that day, there's no guarantee. I'll let you all know should something happen.

With a rainy day, it seems like the perfect time to do an update. With a fresher head and nothing bad on my mind, I'm in a good mood to post, so let's waste no time.

QFa6OTq.png
tPGPSq0.png

Here's how the team looks at Level 17. The only thing to note is Mynx learning Blizzard.

srhauPh.png
CvG7FSa.png
pGAmLSO.png

After restocking on items, it was finally time to face Bugsy... or whatever his/her name is.

9ZvHt6k.png
tivQuHO.png
9CDLIKT.png

And the Gym Guide Guy gives us advice that - while useful - could be compromised after being randomised.

Anyway, here's the Gym music of today.

U07kpoz.png
0lhDZSw.png

While a welcome change compared to the original, the Spinaraks are a pain to maneuver with. It'll take some time.

lw0JjM1.png
bAYUXQ4.png
YVvWDvd.png

Okay, sure, Joe. I'm pretty sure you have some sort of overpowered bug in there, somewhere...

CHPFAon.png
g1hSJzC.png
M0JfIi9.png

Babe manages to take down the Honchkrow by la la laaaing him to death.

Q7C1Gt7.png
GU8qZaF.png
vbsSS2Y.png

Then came a Suicune. What seemed like an unfeasible battle to keep Babe out, the legendary is notably weak to Flying moves, which Babe took advantage of.

4tz9KDr.png
72cgvjR.png

And Babe managed to learn a new move. One where she can take advantage of her Pure Power with.

irehb26.png
t42QCLf.png
kplUX6e.png

After giving the Coin to Dolly, Akira ventured from Spinarak to Spinarak and made it across to the next platform...

Fq8bKqD.png
93oO46d.png

I could've sworn I faced you before... but I can't quite put my finger on it.

KvHiiPQ.png
UDw7LuE.png
lae31DM.png

First up were Bagon and Lapras, and I'm far from convinced that this Gym is a legit Bug Gym with the Pokemon so far.

jaiwxAt.png
ieqCb6X.png
5OkyCvs.png

As Dolly took down Lapras, unfortunately she got poisoned.

7MFwxyy.png
v10DN6d.png

And last was Venonat, who suffered the same fate as Lapras.

00eVdFA.png

That's rich, considering none of your Pokemon ever evolved.

Trn96k9.png
Rtphf4h.png
Ovh7K2V.png

After giving Mynx the coin, Akira pulls the switch to take down the remaining trainers.

HqaWIFS.png
bVdvfl7.png
OdkVcHe.png

First was Florentino, whose name kind of fits with his title. Leave it to a randomiser to actually get a fitting name for once.

aUMp1FQ.png
6q5tgxP.png
zH6VBM3.png

His only Pokemon is a Lickilicky. Unfortunately, he is more than likely a Fire type, which doesn't bode well...

iryaKe6.png
juqPaUA.png

...which then gets worse, when he's also carrying a move like this.

cWwDQGO.png
8CN7Uxd.png

Mynx manages to handle the Lickilicky, though.

ywRTtHI.png
2FmEl6B.png
U9Te2Ko.png

After giving Mynx a Potion, I've decided to keep him out since walking doesn't aggravate his Burn. Poison doesn't have the same luxury.

vweLt9Q.png
YEliq9v.png
YHrXOJd.png

Here, Akira faces a twin team in Amy and Mimi... I mean, Ally and Cam, who are... married? This feels like that one throwaway Simpsons joke where Bart and Lisa attempt to get Marge onto a faux Survivor show, and are mistaken as married kids. That's not a cutaway joke, I'm being serious!

Mynx and Shere make huge dents into Ally and Cam's Pokemon, with Natu quickly biting the dust. Rayquaza tried to hold its own by trying to take out a wounded Mynx.

A6hWeiU.png
grz9jOB.png
7WCjhXo.png

It wasn't enough, as Rayquaza soon joined Natu and Ally and Cam's unholy matrimony has been stopped.

xSlroTL.png

Mynx was healed up not long after.

After pulling both switches, Akira was finally able to reach Bugsy.

9MbMexD.png
CopIg1a.png
6yvnr6W.png

Bugs, you say? Well so far, I haven't seen a single Bug Pokemon in this Gym yet.

wHJ8qNh.png
KShQZki.png
rbdQbIn.png

Anyway, it's time for Daniel to put up or shut up.

kUaalNE.png
2QRV98T.png
9LIiYnu.png

Well Daniel's starting off strong, isn't he? He pulls out a Hariyama. Mynx starts off well against the Hariyama...

EFIA0WC.png
vauzg41.png
Wj3As6s.png

...although the hard work is negated with that pesky Sitrus Berry. And Mynx was on the verge of death's door to the point I couldn't have kept him in any longer.

s8q6uR8.png
KZT5hb4.png
orF52ms.png

So I decided to gamble with Babe, seeing what she could do against Hariyama, and she took him down with one hit.

wiIL8qz.png
4jSizyN.png

After that, Daniel was surprisingly easy from this point on. Next was a Magnemite, which cracked under pressure with an Air Slash.

ikQY5mV.png
nf23Jkr.png

And last was Igglybuff. This is just taking the easy part up to eleven, isn't it?

bwrM9tY.png
GM5gYtr.png

And there goes the last one. So, Daniel, uh... what are you gonna do now then, Sailor? Come on. Back into the action, Daniel.

dQqWze1.png
Qwnv8YI.png
lrbZ36y.png

Following this, Daniel hands over the Hive Badge and owns the loss.

AodZdbr.png
4O0CQt6.png
xlCkx3K.png

And he gives us the TM for U-Turn...

MEaB5aQ.png

Which is actually a different U-Worded move in Uproar. It works somewhat like Outrage, except that it's slightly weaker, potentially lasts more turns and you don't get confused after using it. That said, it does wake Pokemon if asleep.

zJquEfk.png
hH6dbJq.png
slmzb4k.png

You really think so? Huh. Maybe I should've randomised this game sooner.

9M98kRi.png
xp37cM5.png

Oh, and just as Akira got out, Mother revealed that she spent money again. It feels like a growing trend.

Im1qDP9.png
1U1wE9J.png
AOMLNjc.png

After healing up, I decided to rest Babe for now and give the Egg more of a chance to ask. That'll do for now, Spoink... that'll do.

IL11Qxg.png
N3ou3ZB.png

Anyway, off to the Mart to take care of a few things. First, those berries.

kjeTcRp.png
zVF98gx.png
E6sp794.png
9YCA837.png
ket4oAV.png

And it was time to get those status healing items, because Arceus forbid one of my Pokemon falling to one of those status ailments.

OwlUAgC.png

After getting out, Shere caught the scent of smoke. His tail isn't attached to a burning tree branch, is it?

WJwPPw1.png
A6GYp0N.png

Well, it's not actually a tree branch, but it's certainly someone with a fiery personality.

WAFEgxp.png
GEXxdeV.png

Well, yes but actually yes.

0evHltr.png
9MaZDwA.png
qbuakLR.png

As Mark continues to treat the main character like a joke when he is the actual joke, it's time to see if he actually improved his team.

BzLkzGT.png

Wait, my rival is a Preschooler now? Wasn't he a Poet first? Why is he taller than he should be?

R7w1NCi.png
b6yLes9.png
xIjUJux.png

First was Electrike and hie didn't put up much of a fight.

5pMuiMC.png
uTeSvUm.png

Next was Shellos, who couldn't stand the Roar of Time.

f5DkNDr.png
0ggWGrX.png

And last was a Vaporeon. Finally a worthy opponent!

5NVquey.png
fnL1BSa.png
8jukCIC.png

Because of Roar of Time working like Hyper Beam, Vaporeon got a free shot against Shere. It didn't amount to much, though, and Mark chastises his poor team.

B5R28gS.png
zlgWS1r.png
4Hz8n8d.png

Does that mean Mark hates himself, since he technically is weak?

3BTktiv.png
9CQXhyh.png

You know, there's a reason they say there's strength in numbers, Mark.

ZlJA2jM.png
qZLqYdx.png
xwcUPfv.png

ulOi1MU.png
nEEmY6O.png

Shere, your tail's fine. Let's just keep going to the next town.

kKgZdmG.png
viyd4ga.png

I have to admit, the dark atmosphere kind of adds to this forest.

kkHU0PA.png
IPye7OV.png

21lS1uh.png
of9adCI.png

But before we can venture deep into the forest, we have to find his pesky Farfetch'd that decided to fly off.

3jicMq9.png
O34djnP.png

0M7YRf9.png
nZOEU1I.png

Well, that was easy enough. Now what?

P1eGbrB.png
62z09vu.png
sBTHNr1.png

9x79UOn.png
d29TUAk.png

During the interlude, we come across a Female Sneasel. Not the toughest Pokemon in defense, but certainly fast nonetheless. She'd make a welcome addition to the team...

aqqcP8W.png
aBfIjww.png

...and she exhausted my Pokeball supply. And poisoned Shere. Do you know what time it is, Sneasel? Time to die.

BAe9cl4.png

Yes, thank you game, I'm well aware of Shere suffering from poison. Can I just try to catch that other bird?

6MpPsGg.png
wY1HZJF.png
DotjBg1.png

Realistically, this is the only area where you can corner this Farfetch'd.

YfcCLll.png
Bc9q1MD.png

There. Now can I move on to the next town?

xiNNeDr.png
pDuZyJZ.png
HLYCzrm.png

Gee, I wonder where this is going.

rWVeg0t.png
EomGLBS.png
xF83VzA.png

Wait. So you're telling me that you'd be out of business without those two birds? You know you can teach any other Pokemon Cut or, oh, I don't know JUST TAKE CHOPPING LESSONS! DO AXES NOT EXIST IN THE POKEMON WORLD?!

VgzycqG.png
f8RCc8d.png
RaRIKYx.png

Anyway, we get the HM Cut for our troubles. And since we already took down Daniel for the Gym Badge, I could teach it to one of my Pokemon right away...

65dVehF.png

...I just need to heal Shere first.

VKdeZwQ.png
0RlWKp6.png

With that done, Vanilla has become the designated HM Handywoman after being taught Cut.

cVc4pWj.png
3QhfZE0.png

Finally getting somewhere, Akira picks up a PP Up, and a second Rose Incense.

MBjrtlx.png
0or2kJK.png
j5X2sr4.png

Passing by a guy headbutting tress, Akira then sees another Kimono girl, this time either inept of moving her way around Johto or just reciting one of her own plays. It could happen.

vi5YVQE.png
MZyBXaq.png

Well how many of you ladies are there?

RRRb72o.png
3cTC84W.png
BOpxi9M.png

The Kimono Girl balks at Akira offering his help... even though you could just keep going to move to the next Route. You just need to go left, or your right.

5omYnYI.png
4dvSi71.png
EeSpUDI.png

Fortunately, Toni comes to the rescue for the damsel in distress by showing her the way out.

7BgOXii.png
dikjpD7.png
WOsJzEH.png

After that non-sequitur, Toni celebrates by eating grass. What? Every Pokemon does that when they're playful.

Du7zwjY.png
OgscUFr.png

Then we finally make it to the next Route.

lApI0bN.png
dr8hRWu.png
zmIKxv9.png

Since I'm unable to get the next encounter until I get Poke Balls again, all I can do is face trainers and hope for the best. First is a Man fittingly named Thomas.

cVJ6lQp.png
Y9vm135.png
fsjL9EI.png

Toni managed to easily torch the first three Pokemon with a Fire Blast.

c8SdZtq.png
BWDfDo3.png
4yrLASy.png

Whiscash, however, prove to be a tougher opponent at first, at least until Toni used an Ice Ball.

8XsijGZ.png
lnyWvKJ.png
THRo8PL.png

Ultimately, I decided against Frenzy Plant, because I didn't need two Overpowered Grass moves, with one of them leaving her as a free hit next turn.

46jBS62.png

Following this, it was Vanilla's turn to move forward.

fE7Z5ga.png
x4h0VFu.png
5t7datF.png

Next is a PokeFan who is masquerading as a Cyclist... thought it does raise the question: Who is the Cyclist? Who is the Trainer? Who is Robin? What is Robin?

HA8Lz1P.png
qzbAkvs.png

Well, this already doesn't bode well, does it?

...

...

...

...

...

HZewYZ1.png

Yeah, I need to switch you out.

TjHewPk.png
kv5BR57.png
HzZCMnl.png

When in doubt, Dolly it out.

KhgE7X5.png
pLXNQot.png
cE5kXex.png

Oh, there's another Dragon Pokemon unveiled in a Marowak.

DRoilGb.png

It's better that it did. Also it's hard to believe and imagine a man on all fours helping you go as fast as a bike. Unless if this game follows Spongebob lore.

bMQMTKW.png
bsvRktn.png

Some things never change, such as Mother buying an item for Akira, and Vanilla being healed up.

u1Oeb94.png
tFyBhFd.png

And in place of Youngster Joey, here is Man Mia. Unless if it's short for Miami, I've got nothing.

WGm1tFt.png
wzponwc.png
vvxsRXh.png

Vanilla returns to form by stomp the Muk out of Flaaffy and Ralts. #NotMyYoungster

KPpf77W.png
l4MIiWg.png
Vt7BpPn.png

Anyway, Mia's number has been added.

HPavbZi.png

Oh Arceus... I really don't want to go through this sidebar.

HCc3eEL.png
BT1eRls.png

Can I just skip this hand-holding cutscene?

28YQ7JC.png
A4Kgmw9.png

I'll be honest. I didn't want this Chapter to be bogged down relentlessly with this part, so let's just sum this up. Lyra's Grandparents run the day care centre, and offer to rest one of your Pokemon at any time. And for some reason, Lyra decides now's the time to make Akira register her number. You'd think she wanted to do this when the journey first officially started for you.

KWApZCS.png
fqGVF2f.png

And to finish things, up, the Day-Care Man and Lady get their numbers registered as well. At least this one makes more sense.

3wAIma9.png
TFO38kf.png

You know what? Maybe that might not be a bad idea. I mean, who knows? Maybe there could be a couple in the party that wants to celebrate.

sDIEqLt.png

And with that settled, and still no deaths to report, it's now time to head to Goldenrod and call it a--

vZ1Ye1k.png
L7Cs14c.png

Can't you just let me get to the next town?

i5oBYu7.png
AyQGmqE.png
LcgnvZ7.png

Unfortunately Pansy is not a loving cop, as he sends out his Politoed, which I honestly thought was an unfitting evolution based on the colour alone. Surely nothing bad can come of this, right?

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

...

xk4kQss.png
tF5P4om.png

This officer really is a Pansy.

At that point, I had to decide on who was the right call to send out.

rB126sE.png
ooUlJBQ.png

EoLICJD.png
WzsBNxw.png

With Politoed knowing Spacial Rend, I couldn't afford sending out Dolly or Shere.

Ivj9FAC.png
yPPRuom.png
pguGRkw.png

Mynx starts off strong by exposing Politoed's weakness. However, I'm worried that the latter still has a bit of bloodlust left in him.

...

...

...

...

...

I1qhEPi.png

Fortunately, Mynx manages to avenge Vanilla by taking down Politoed.

F4tMmSg.png
o3hBSfS.png

This was the first death that caught me off guard. I admittedly thought that Vanilla would've handled this if the Policeman didn't have a strong Pokemon, or at the very least, had one that didn't know a good move. It felt like I took him for granted.

Rest in Peace
XinE1JD.png

Vanilla the Krabby (Route 46, Level 2 - Level 17)
You will be dearly missed.

2UauCqE.png

Maybe it's best that the Egg didn't see what happened there.

CZokaUl.png
Szufsmg.png
cQXzx31.png

After giving Dolly the Amulet Coin, Akira faced the last person standing in his way. Some Gentleman named Donna.

mIkbvoz.png
wHwcQlD.png
xvWNgRd.png

With the recent death, Dolly takes it out on a carbon copy of Krabby.

yUuBBBX.png
q1Jykux.png

And Dolly ends up learning Draco Meteor. Of all the things I was expecting to be a Dragon... Clefairy wasn't one of them.

4SmyNh1.png
yToLcKA.png

This is probably the one number I partly regretted registering. Then again, I wasn't in the right state of mind, considering the recent loss.

6qvxKOD.png
alefNlj.png

Nonetheless, we finally arrived at Goldenrod City, where we had to say farewell.

hsDRaZB.png

Vanilla, for a Normal-Typed Crab, you were one interesting kind. I was hoping to keep you around as a Utility Pokemon, and still give you a purpose even if the competition for a spot was getting tough. Sadly, it was not to be. I hope you get to rave in heaven.

Krf5AMj.png

Babe was brought back into the fold not long after.

JNpNhRc.png
HWec2Xy.png

With the party healed up, it was time to end the day for the time being. I wanted to close out on a high note, but I don't make the rules. Okay, yes I randomised the game, but that's it.

Kot76yr.png
jCVoSsd.png

Whitney thinks that Pokeballs are made out of apricots, as Akira travels around Goldenrod before ultimately facing Whitney. Will a big bad enforcer fight for Whitney to prevent Akira from getting another Gym badge so soon?

Surviving Party Members: Toni (Ice), Babe (Flying), Vanilla (Normal), Shere (Dragon/Ice), Mynx (Ice/Psychic), Dolly (Dragon)

Members in Waiting: ...Egg?, Crete the Forretress (Psychic), Glenda the Chansey (Bug/Flying)

Death Count:
1 (Vanilla the Krabby, Normal)
This time, the next Chapter will come Wednesday.

Comic artist. Idiot. Has far too many active projects for his own sanity. Unreliable when it comes to updates on his non-comic endeavours.
RIP Vanilla, the extra-ordinary crab 😔 I am very curious about the egg, now. Also, it has been a pretty rainy day, I didn't do anything about it.
