Secrets of Aetherai: Ori's Gift is a musical storylocke. I've actually been tempted to compile a playlist of all the songs that have appeared in it over the past two years, but never got around to it because I've got loads of other things I wanna do. To try to name all the songs I've used would take quite a while, so I'm just gonna mention my other storylocke, because while no music has yet appeared in it, that's gonna change.

Originally, A Trace of Magic: Seeing Red was not planned to have any music in it. However, upon binging video game soundtracks on YouTube while doing my daily exercise (I try to get in two hours of walking a day because I need to burn off extra energy and it's supposed to help me regulate my mood, yes that's a lot of time but I'm weird like that), it occurred to me that it would be quite interesting to give each boss battle in Seeing Red a soundtrack taken from the Undertale/Deltarune fan community. (Don't look at me like that. I know Megaovania is a meme, but the games do have genuinely great music, and so do many of the fan AUs in existence, so it's a perfectly legitimate source for battle music.) The Pewter City Gym Leader battle is coming up in a chapter or two, and that will be the one with the first soundtrack drop, so check it out when it happens!

Now, in terms of nuzlockes that I haven't started posting yet, there are actually two upcoming Secrets of Aetherai tales that are named after songs. The first one, my Y lorelocke, is titled What Once Was Mine and carries heavy "Tangled the Series" vibes within it (current plan is to split it into four parts, titled "Wither and Decay," "End This Destiny," "Break These Earthly Chains," and "Set the Spirit Free," and if you've watched Tangled the Series you know where that comes from).

The second is an Omega Ruby navlocke that I've spent literally two years trying to find a good title for (I had plenty of ideas, but I couldn't decide between them), and then sometime last week the name finally clicked: Incomplete. (Which could lead to trouble if the mods mistake the title for the run status, so I'll have to add a note in the thread title regarding that.) Incomplete is one of my favorite Thousand Foot Krutch songs, and if you don't know why then I'll just link you to it so you can find out why:



The reason I chose 'Incomplete' as the title is because it fits not only the main character (whose name I have intentionally never told anyone because spoilers) and her journey, but it also fits the nuzlocke's story as a whole. But how, you'll just gonna have to wait until I actually get to the point where I can start posting it.

Pretty much all the Songs from the Artist "Vexento". Most don't even have Lyrics which makes listening to them while scripting especially good.

^^; and what i consider the main theme for the run, "Timeline", is no different. o.o i dunno, over time, as i drew my run while listening to music, i just associated the nice and calm theme with the run ....... o3o;; which is ironic, considering how chaotic the run can get

I love to assemble playlists for my OCs, mainly the 'favorites' I like to call them. Obviously, one for Harley and her team in 'Resolute Heart' is a no brainer. I'm a little picky with what songs I want though, so this process is pretty slow.

Currently, I have two songs I've associated with Harley. "Nothing More to Say/Eeehhh" by SOPHIE is relevant, without potential spoilers. Sadly this version isn't available on Spotify, but the Vox version of "Nothing More to Say" feels very endgame-y to me, lol. Another is "Panic Room" by Au/Ra, which may glean into Harley's psyche throughout the run. Despite her cool exterior, she harbors a lot of stuff on the inside. Aside from that, my favorite music is usually EDM, so I had thrown in a few tracks, including what feels like a requirement of some Pokemon remix (this awesome remix of the RBY opener from Toni Leys comes to mind). I actually have a few more established on her Spotify playlist, but the names of the songs alone feel like spoilers, so I will have to keep my lips sealed on them, for now. :'D

Hi! I don't have a run up but I'm in the stage of building "aesthetics" for an Ultra Moon nuzlocke comic featuring magical girls. I was heavily inspired by Starcadian's Ultralove; I'm shifting away from dancey French House-inspired music for inspiration to stuff like Sewerslvt and Machine Girl.

oh say fucking LESS my toxic trait is the inability to start writing without a playlist. i've literally had to spend 1-2 hours on a minimum of 1 hour long playlists before starting even a small idea, whether it be a zine piece or one-shot.

for my main fic on the forums, BaPH, I've got three playlists? One that represents the run as a whole, one that represents a relationship in the run and one that represents Deion, my gold medalist supporting character. Oh hello.

Colossus was explicitly written with punk as the vibe. The MC is a punk, he does punkass things, he's from a shithole town, the whole nine yards. Between that and a healthy dose of Britpop/British rock like Arctic Monkeys, there's the vibe and most of the playlist. If I had to choose a song for it, though, I'd actually not go with the song that gave the run its name, but with Never Try by PUP for capturing the tao of Taz.

Like local, I also have a playlist for a story that hasn't come out yet. Grayscale is def more downbeat, with particularly some strong emo vibes (emo as in, like, Jawbreaker or Basement, not MCR emo. Sorry). Exceeeeept, the song I associate most with this is No No No by Beirut, and not just because it's been stuck in my head all week. Such a simple little song, but the refrain fits nice and snug for the protag.

Time for me to answer my own question. I was putting it off because I wasn't sure the best way to approach it because I have uh.... *checks Spotify* 82 playlists. A very non-zero amount of those are run playlists.

So, instead, I'm going to just pick 3 songs for two of my runs and call it good. (Which is a challenge to narrow down...)

The vibes between the two are ENTIRELY different, which really makes sense considering one is a cozy coming of age and the other is... Snakewood.

I used to have an entire playlist with a theme song for every character for my Reborn storylocke, but.., that's not exactly a thing anymore. I am finding songs which suit the vibe for my Rejuvenation nuzlocke now, though.

These two songs fit the tranquil but slightly melancholy vibe that the early-game has, especially when two NPCs - who I've just come to like again - become devastated by what they think has happened (even if they are mistaken about it) and I want to give them a hug sdfh;dshkf

For my eventual run - I'm still adding to it and finding it's voice, but I did my normal thing of picking one artist and trying to branch out from there. The name of the playlist (Midori) is the name of the main character.
