I got bored and I have decided to make poor decisions with my time.

As such I introduce, The Nevermore Nuzlocke.

Rules are fairly simple,

1. If a Pokemon faints, it is dead

2. Nickname everything, naming theme will be decided later.

3. I cannot grind past the level of the Gym Leader's Ace

The big difference is the catching rule.

4. My catch will be decided by voters, with them voting for what they think the worst Pokemon on a route is. I will still have to catch the first Pokemon of that species that I see.
4a. This rule comes into effect once I get Pokeballs
4b. In the event that a vote ends in a tie, a Random Number Generator will decide what I catch.

For example, if my available catches are Ledyba, Gyarados, and Hoothoot, I would expect everyone to vote for Ledyba.

As this is a Drayano hack, many Pokemon have had changes made to them, if there is a significant change such as typing, BST, or abilities to either the base Pokemon or an evolution, I will add a section after the voting link that covers those changes.

Redninjapuffles are known to want to create their own nuzlocke stories or comics, however, many have yet to start one.
Very interesting set of rules, as for the worst starter...
Its not Chimchar, by a long shot, Iron fist is too good
Its down to turtwig and Piplup
Turtwig has better ability and better early gym matchups
Piplup is better offensively and good late game
I think Piplup is the worse of the starters, but not by much

Got enough votes, so here's where it all starts.
I'm going to be mostly showing off changes to the hack here, as well as posting some polls at the end for future catches.

a16fchf.png
jGbPZQE.png
lVyOUEA.png

Custom intro to the game
Rowan has an Eevee with him to start, so things are slightly different.

LlGAZ1x.png

Chose the male model and Clar as my name this time around.

kXIITaz.png

Whereas my Rival got the name of one of my friends.

sfEYACL.png

If anyone wants to view the Documentation of all the changes in this rom hack, go to this link. I'll only really be covering the larger changes, I can't get into super specific stuff.

8Jmrytb.png

Game starts you off with running shoes.

T2F9DJa.png

And a bike!

AAxwCzX.png

And an altered Littleroot town!

JRCujvw.png

Palmer shows up at his house at the beginning of the game.

Iwoz6Ao.png

Rival even calls him Daddy.

tYo8iRF.png

The giant text stops us from making even more poor decisions.

FWKNPJc.png

The voters picked Piplup. This oughta be neat.

WBkmW22.png

The first battle happens. This was the team that my rival has currently.

Route 201
=============================================================================================================================
PKMN Trainer Barry Turtwig Lv. 5

I know it seems weird now, but I'm making a habit of doing this now for consistency later. He ended up using Withdraw so much that Bubble was dealing more than Pound was.

Xb9FZtX.png
p44NMSp.png

These are the stats on my Piplup. Technically my second one, I lost the first fight and reset the run.

L0T82QR.png

Went through the scene that endeared this character to me.

8b3DPVY.png

Got Potions. 10 of them in fact. Happy this is here, otherwise everything would go to hell fast.

pzuP2Zq.png

Named my starter, points if you can guess the naming theme early.

O0qzTxa.png

The game gives me a VERY early Pokeradar for catches.

UcsUP6Z.png

Last but not least, $50 Pokeballs. Still get premier balls for buying ten as well.

Things will start getting more interesting once I get some more catches and getting into battles, as most of them are fairly threatening at this point of time. I'll have voting happen at the Strawpolls below, changes to Pokemon will be in the spoilers after the poll link.

I like your Sakurai, but not your players. Your players are so unlike your Sakurai.
I'm thinking Bidoof from Route 201, Wingull from Lake Verity, and Poochyena from Route 202.

Go ahead and make Misty proud. I freaking dare you.

So we got a good amount of votes this time! Hopefully I get more later, make things more interesting.

Here are the final results for the polls.

9Gn9saO.png

45x4DFq.png

xY3edVx.png

Now into the update! Starting with a quick thing I forgot to mention

Every move in the game has been updated to it's gen 7 levels, so Bubble...
06f7ots.png

Is 40 BP and lowers speed

sOJzvYl.png
DQHyTdf.png

Caught this Kricketot with a BEAUTIFUL nature.

Xy4mJu4.png
ZolDhJ4.png

And this Wynaut with a passable one. Can't believe you guys gave me a Wynaut. I can get one guaranteed kill per match with this thing. It even evolves before the gym!

hXNmvXt.png

Visited my Mom to tell her I was going on an adventure.
giphy.gif

AjsG433.png

She gave me an Eevee for the road

gBCAU3A.png
WYI1I3F.png

This guy will be in a poll at the end of the update. I only get ONE pokemon per area, gift or not.

ZbYCiKm.png

Instead of a catching tutorial, you get a battle with the other rival instead.

QrFjDMq.png

They use the other starter, more on her team later.

kNRpX3S.png

She doesn't give you any money.

UAEmKbM.png

But she does give you 30 Pokéballs, so I forgive her.

TNtOkLw.png

Found this good boy.

94HZgyN.png
BwuiuMZ.png

With another great nature for a Mothim and a great ability until it evolves.

oL2LR1w.png

Looker stresses me out just by existing.

BZhPIsC.png

These two are new as well. They are here for a VERY good reason.

rCq0CKS.png

If you want to take the quiz, I'll leave it in a spoiler here.

cbaR3P2.png

Pretty easy to start, answer is yes.

hb9TSFU.png

A trick question, the Fighting Gym isn't official, therefore the answer is no.

I missed a screenshot here, but the full question is:

Professor Oak is an authority on Pokémon from the Kanto region, is his full name is Samson Oak?
XhQTbGN.png

Close, but his name is SAMUEL Oak, Samson is his cousin from Alola.

YAKNHkA.png

Had to google this one, the answer is Yes.

Dntyh48.png

Easy answer.

jDhFuLh.png

The grand prize is...

rYwNwsi.png

The three Kanto starters! More polls for you guys!

7n2B6xv.png

You still get the Town Map from the Parcel

8sVafms.png

But this girl gives you an egg.
The Egg will hatch into one of the following Pokémon at random:
Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Elekid, Magby, Azurill,
Wynaut, Budew, Chingling, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Happiny, Munchlax, Riolu, Mantyke

fZr5Rfu.png

While fighting the two school trainers, Krypton evolved.

705zmxI.png

and got flipping scary. Holy shite.

GpHPRS6.png

Whenever you would get a TM in this game, you get 99. So I got a lifetime supply of Hidden Power TM's.

I0uj7QJ.png

Riolu was what hatched from the egg. If this wasn't a Nuzlocke, this would be a really lucky run.

VQNf6QM.png

No clown chase this time, you just get the watch.

TC5db8Y.png
wLapq87.png

Picked up an Old Rod and some dive balls, which gives me a better option for catches with this thing.

OELvfbS.png

And that is our update!

So for the polls this time, I need to remind you that I want the WORST Pokémon on a route, partway through I think people got confused and gave me the best option.

Here are the polls this time!

There we go! The votes will be tallied on November 11, 2020. There should be three more catches in that one, then a gym update!

See you all in a week!

I like your Sakurai, but not your players. Your players are so unlike your Sakurai.
Go for Poliwag, Charmander, Sunkern, Geodude, and Bidoof for the first five, then replace your Riolu for Oreburgh Cave. Good luck!

Also, you forgot Route 218 can be accessed as soon as you get the Old Rod.

I did remember, but I'm gonna save Route 218 for later. It has a lot of redundant catches at this point.

Another week, another update. First things first, the tallied votes! Because there was a tie, I'm going to implement a new rule; "In the event that a vote ends in a tie, I will use a Random Number Generator to pick between the tied options."

I'll update the first post to reflect as such.

Also as a note, I made a mistake last post, Charizard has had a type change. It is now Fire/Dragon. No one voted for it, but I had to state my mistake.

0FSD24c.png

This one was far closer than I ever expected, I'll post a poll so people can vote on the evolution at the end of this post.

qTum87K.png

Super confused about this one, but I guess there were a lot of really good options?

Ow1dTDn.png

Sounds about right

rT1yKVo.png

This one was a bit rough, most of the options are at least passable, so a four way tie doesn't surprise me. RNG says...

0oxXoyT.png

Sandshrew. I can work with that.

8zcL4h6.png

Late evolution, I get it.

FJEHaQO.png

Fragile as all heck, I for sure get it.

Now on to some replies!

@War Anvil - I know that Route 218 has catches on it, but I'm gonna save it for later. I already have my Piplup, and I think it only gives me the option of Carvanha and Magikarp.

@mizar - The Eevee poll will be at the end of this!

And an update!

WyMezHu.png
dQJQKjS.png
M88QnGS.png

Eevee is looking nice, gonna leave him in the box until I decide on an evolution though.

QpOazDC.png
2tQCUSb.png
fNYzWPn.png

Riolu is looking even better, he can get in the party right away to start grinding up his happiness.

zeBNEiO.png

This actually took a bit, this guy just didn't want to show up.

7e8z52s.png
AXMrVR9.png
EAzlB4u.png

Actually considering grinding this guy up for Gardenia later, wanna see how it is in this hack.

UpGAVIY.png
jUjn7K7.png

I could theoretically get up to Valley Windworks at this point, but I don't wanna test that theory.

HjwsTEA.png
Nkwsd4Z.png

Inside the cave we get two VERY good items. Especially considering you get 99 of each TM upon receiving them in this hack.

7KAAxEv.png

Another catch that took an annoyingly long time. Was in the cave running back and forth for 10 minutes on a 20% chance.

XKuu9S4.png
hf9wBfY.png
tPaWrqT.png

A very helpful Pokemon for the early game, especially considering Roarks love of Stealth Rocks.

gsZiYIf.png

Just gonna keep this for later.

2NnpWMh.png
vw34cne.png

Rival fight is actually a little threatening this time.

Route 203
=============================================================================================================================
PKMN Trainer Barry Starly Lv. 10, Munchlax Lv. 10, Turtwig Lv. 11
PKMN Trainer Barry Starly Lv. 10, Munchlax Lv. 10, Chimchar Lv. 11
PKMN Trainer Barry Starly Lv. 10, Munchlax Lv. 10, Piplup Lv. 11

I0CnOns.png

Manganese can take the Starly easily with her shiny new Rock Tomb TM

JuQrYbK.png

Krypton can take the Turtwig down with a single Technician boosted Fury Cutter

tSkV9os.png

Learn Absorb in the process.

vsu1DZU.png

Then face down the Munchlax. Now the tricky thing about this little bastard is that he has Metronome.

gnEgQvm.png

I was not expecting it to not only live the second Fury Cutter, but use Metronome into an actually scary move.

x5NB0A6.png

Luckily, Krypton doesn't care.

KlHlGTI.png
TSj5KvI.png
u5ubRvf.png

You get a super early Exp Share though, so that's nice.

Sv1fG9a.png

As well as a Silk Scarf

M6vn7sv.png
2WuOXk2.png

And a new friend? Gonna have to check this out later.

Stux9XP.png

Manganese gets another helpful move.

vJiZP2j.png

Then I run into my catch. It doesn't learn how to explode til level 9, so I'm safe on that front.

YZlNXfg.png
jo4Hw37.png
hcF2Owi.png

Shame this isn't gen 5 Sturdy. This guy is probably gonna rot in the box.

P1rMHFo.png

Probably some cheese strats that can be concocted with this here, might be a consideration.

FfU7BiK.png

Dray like double battles.

3EWyK5R.png

Dray REALLY likes double battles. Can't say I blame him.

kFAZX3L.png

Using Protect on Silicon so that Manganese can use Magnitude is a lot of fun.

PzTDm7N.png

This goes on Riolu immediately.

ath2iUe.png
K4Y7p8c.png
V4vo34d.png

This guy still gives you Rock Smash, but all the rocks have been removed from Sinnoh. You only need to teach it if you want the move.

XkeRxz0.png

It had it's Base Power shifted up to 60, making it an actually good early game move, especially with that defense drop.

NT7kqfC.png

These 2 got moved back one square, you gotta fight them.

8h6dPBW.png

Found this little scamp.

kFe08qV.png
Zh7UU6d.png
4qE4iEl.png

Lead has an EXCELLENT nature. Might need to consider using him.

TJQNN3h.png

Guess who's back!

w5AXhIH.png
T38oXrT.png
PnddORd.png
ow4xnXG.png
Uzf0YUo.png

It's another quiz, but Hoenn themed this time.

ldLQFKr.png
4eFfotC.png
VpwNcPl.png

Easy start, not too bad.

qD8bJlZ.png
hagoDkK.png

Close, Gabby and Tai. Made me look weird for a second trying to remember though.

FKlRsP8.png
6indkji.png

God, I had no idea. Maybe in the deep lore? I said no, and that was apparently right.

Q4b2jeY.png
1jMHJ5R.png

Then I proceeded to laugh so hard I missed a bunch of screenshots.

sMe9VSN.png

They offer you the three Hoenn starters, more poll fodder.

GZKoKHc.png

This girl offers an interesting trade.

ZCNRjl9.png

Look who I found!

p8Bb7wc.png

And look what he wants to give me! To the polls!

G21k6L6.png

No changes to Flash sadly, so this is only gonna get used for that one cave under Cycling Road.

U4aFY4x.png

Plus a VERY welcome edition! This is going on a lot of Pokemon.

iDQ4sRr.png

And that's all I have for you!

Lots of interesting team potential with this update, lot of bugs though. Gonna have a few more polls, with extra added for Eevee, cause the Eeveelutions had their movesets basically redone.

Treecko squad represent.

Instead of a random number generator, what about just running until you find one of the options in a tie assuming it's a wild catch? Might make things a bit more exciting!

Looks like a cool team is forming, surprised there isn't a pattern yet like everyone winner is ground type or orange or something, haha

Time to go again! God this was some rough playtime. You'll figure out why.

But first, replies!

@0 Anonymous - That is honestly probably more intelligent. Next time.

And the update!

Asb7tGM.png

Starting with our first vote... I got a Treecko!

OoOVnNR.png
PGfjc6M.png
9SO3kXe.png

I dunno, it's a Treecko. Looks pretty green.

XWWJjB8.png
Bs6suXu.png

Because Dray gives you the bike first thing, he put this guy here to make sure you don't sequence break.

SoDHrta.png

Ponyta is the catch for Route 207

3yGVG9Y.png

and I found this pretty girl right away.

qQW2kaX.png
oZeYht6.png
crDC21D.png

She actually looks really good. Excited to use her after the gym.

Mu7Bdbi.png

Catch for Oreburgh Mine is Onix

haDos3f.png

Then I found this guy. Shortly afterwards, everything went to shit. While trying to catch it there were some complications.

idmdgRS.png
LaoGPU1.png

Mainly two losses. I got greedy with Treecko and tried one last ball cause the last one shook 3 times.

JcmliaV.png

I eventually just cut my losses and killed it before I wiped to a wild Onix. I really wanted to use this thing too. RIP Manganese and Sulfur.

sTsveUS.png
8HdvCoV.png
YBTSb5u.png
w4h3INi.png

This is how you evolve your Eevee early, Dray made it so that every stone corresponds to one Eeveelution. Speaking of evolving Eevee, what did the poll say?

VhDuNJT.png

Leafeon huh?

jdhIIho.png
1D5hsRq.png

I always liked Grass types

T6XqsDn.png

The ability is less ideal than Chlorophyll, but eh. I'll work with what I got.

uE0lQDU.png

Wynaut evolved too.

bF444cA.png

Look at the health on that bugger.

lKfLxcw.png

I got a little paranoid after the Onix.

XKrNdsg.png

I also cheesed the ever loving hell out of Happiness Evolutions and got a level 2 Lucario.

I'm not proud, I'll do what it takes.

c8o7Jyu.png

Then I faced down Roark... this is what my team looked like.

lKT8eAQ.png
M6svDXI.png

Lead exists to do super effective damage to the things I can't safely have other deal with.

0Zc0HFu.png
6Xz6xER.png

Turns out Fluorine doesn't get a grass move til 16, so he is here in case I need to heal stall.

kYoFf3d.png
hS2UkNy.png

Titanium is here to chew gum and kick ass... and he's all out of ass.

A0n4RCi.png
rVftzjW.png

Xenon is around to deal with things I don't have an answer to.

UixINGE.png
9SrE7kT.png

Krypton is here as a last resort should we lose someone.

UICBFdq.png

And just pretend that Iron is still a Piplup and has Water Sport instead of Metal Claw. I'm bad at screenshots.

The entire reason I'm giving a full team preview is because... well....

Oreburgh Gym
=======================================================================================================
Leader Roark
Nosepass (Lv. 14) @ Wise Glasses / Modest / Sturdy / Stealth Rock, Ancient Power, Dazzling Gleam, Discharge
Bonsly (Lv. 14) @ Smooth Rock / Impish / Rock Head / Stealth Rock, Rock Tomb, Brick Break, Sandstorm
Geodude (Lv. 14) @ Expert Belt / Adamant / Rock Head / Stealth Rock, Rock Tomb, Fire Punch, Thunder Punch
Onix (Lv. 14) @ Muscle Band / Jolly / Rock Head / Stealth Rock, Rock Tomb, Dig, Sandstorm
Larvitar (Lv. 14) @ Toxic Orb / Jolly / Guts / Brick Break, Rock Slide, Dig, Protect
Cranidos (Lv. 15) @ Sitrus Berry / Hasty / Rock Head (!) / Zen Headbutt, Rock Tomb, Thunder Punch, Scary Face

Dray is not messing around.

YwqIHw9.png

I led with Xenon because I didn't know if anything could take a decent special hit, I lead with Encore as Nosepass used Stealth Rock.

hulOpX3.png

I switched into Titanium to try and get an attack boost off Metal Claw. Even with two uses it didn't work and Nosepass died.

Insert Roark sending out his Geodude here and Iron killing it with a single Bubble.

5F0oePv.png

I brought Xenon out cause this thing scares me. It used Thunder Punch right out and I encored it. Took two Counters to take down.

qC08jwY.png

3 Thunder Punches did this much damage to an obscenely tanky Pokemon.

xMxjsiy.png

Titanium one shot this thing with Force Palm.

raCCYLZ.png

Turns out Iron was slower than the Onix and it used Dig. He took a dig and oneshot with Bubble.

8gtYjqG.png

Lead got some licks in against the Bonsly, two Magnitude did the job nicely.

zY1pNN4.png

Iron evolved after the fight.

M2CgFI2.png

I got a shiny new badge, and a place to call it!

Next time we make our way towards Mars, and get some fancy new catches to go with it. Vote below!

The voting mechanic seems interesting. However, don't we have already buit-in polls for threads? 🤔

i just failed a renegade plat locke myself a while back due to a combo of bad natures / underleveling.. didn't even make it 2 the first gym lol

anyway, maybe U'll have better luck than i did. gl, drayano hacks tend 2 have SOME sort of bs in them, but that's what makes them fun

Back again! Sorry the update is a day late, I had some stuff to deal with. First though, replies!

@Train27 - The posts do have a built in poll function, but you can only post one at a time. Doesn't really work for multiple catches.

@AerialAce40 - Thanks, I'm probably gonna need all the luck I can get.

@Arie Kazami - Use what you got, and it will save my ass many more times.

@lesbian xion - I find that Dray hacks are difficult without just throwing more levels at you, it's why I appreciate them.

Slight addendum to last update regarding the rules.

I had it so that RNG would decide would decide the Pokemon I caught in an area if there was a tied vote, I'm switching back to that.

If I do it by which Pokemon I encounter first, I can tilt my catches towards my preference due to all the currently available catching methods.

But now, update!

7LvJi3k.png

We start off with the Rival being his clumsy self.

NzHl11k.png

I did double check, that dude with the broken bike is still there. No sequence breaks for this boy.

0dunxWf.png
Zjh9Ma5.png

Keep this in mind for all of 10 seconds.

MxgZsHN.png
qq35eqk.png
gM2qK82.png

Looker is really bad at his job.

eYs30JU.png

This is still a proper double battle.

wpdR7vy.png

Dawn's team is even starting to take a definite shape.

mWE6BMc.png

Even if it died quickly because it was a Fairy type against a bunch of Poison types.

uXxFH3k.png

I got some Fashion stuff.

giphy.gif

xyJlPY5.png

You guys made a mistake giving me a Riolu.

UQHvtsN.png

We got Captivate over here

00WOuQu.png

and Bullet Seed on the other side of the route.

apDcwsn.png

It's that time again!

9g8Ya5g.png
8xsr9aT.png

But even more hilarious this time around.

Jf89UmC.png
wSRRe6r.png
YkOUbVo.png

The answer was No, but I got it wrong the first time.

Z9aGddq.png
0qhnkHe.png

The answer is no. Falkner gives out the Zephyr badge.

aFWcjDf.png
w3E4E6C.png

Also no, they're Apricots, not Apricorns.

Ve1EaGP.png
2RaDpJ4.png
N6jrr3K.png

Which they did.

3exmUQ3.png
qacNEfU.png
EuUXBVc.png

Was pretty easy. Fun though. She gives you the Three Pokemon after beating her, and the survey said...

n2MDMYj.png

Chikorita!

BSgyP00.png

Can I stop getting Grass types please?

cnA4B6Y.png
xyupWWY.png
mEPREtA.png

I do like that ability though... good backup mon.

iRYre4t.png

Found this and remembered that Shroomish from earlier.

zxHXBkh.png
DI0gmcv.png
ekHpTzE.png

I fed it, it turned into a Mew, than buggered off. It was a sequence of events.

h0ElCfl.png

Things are mostly the same at Valley Windworks

IZfRK4u.png
A6zX8cF.png

There are some decent items around then. As for my catch...

sxJJq7m.png

RNG decided it would be a Plusle.

5LSrill.png

It was so low level that I brought out the Wobbuffet to Charm and Counter spam to get it down low.

X6dC4Mh.png

It then Crit and ate a crit counter in return. Ah well, back to the drawing board.

6I3kID7.png
n6bw8F5.png

Did some plot to unlock more plot.

FUie2Xx.png
7rlry7W.png

Met some criminal scum.

YzCrVVE.png

Beat some criminal scum.

W98iVVf.png

Got some sweet, sweet Honey.

it8TqqF.png

And used it to get my first catch in the area.

TYBOwKe.png

It was a Cherubi

1i1ioP8.png

Thankfully, trees are instant now. I don't have to wait 8 hours for the chance to get the wrong catch.

eG0IVcg.png
Jq4fd1R.png
dxYB8wN.png

It's a Grass type, still behind both Leafeon and Chikorita in usefullness though.

uAcx6W7.png

Went back to the Windworks.

p6c5Gmc.png

Then got ready for a very dangerous fight.

Valley Windworks
==========================================================================================================================

Commander Mars
Zubat (Lv. 18) @ None / Naive / Inner Focus / Poison Fang, Wing Attack, Toxic, Confuse Ray
Bronzor (Lv. 18) @ Sitrus Berry / Brave / Levitate / Hypnosis, Extrasensory, Gyro Ball, Confuse Ray
Yanma (Lv. 18) @ None / Timid / Speed Boost / Silver Wind, Air Cutter, Detect, Sonic Boom
Purugly (Lv. 19) @ Sitrus Berry / Jolly / Thick Fat / Fake Out, Hypnosis, Facade, Feint Attack

She is less threatening than a Gym Leader, still pretty scary though. Plus I don't really have a strong Flying/ Poison counter yet.

F5MKq7M.png

I thought that Prinplup could deal with the Zubat

OzbE84V.png

Instead he just got smacked with Toxic and Confuse Ray,

xssJr3S.png

It offered very little in return. I ended up switching to Ponyta to finish it, but I am once again really bad at screenshots.

qVyGEPG.png

I got the kill screen on Yanma.

PyxlAFK.png

My Lucario just destroying the Purugly because of Inner Focus.

ItqVNRh.png

And Kricketune taking out the Bronzor. He is already starting to fall off, which is concerning.

orTbTMQ.png

I met Looker again while running off to heal, because as you can tell by the screenshot, my team was getting bodied in there. That's all for this update!

Time for my favorite section, the polls!
