Hello, Happy New Year!
Today I'll be uploading my third attempt at an Idolocke run, this time in Pokemon Sacred Gold. I also have seen it is hard to make your run actually something people are interested though.
Anyways, before I start, my inspiration for how different this run from the previous two...
Aside from Love Live! School Idol Festival, I also gained interest in playing another related rhythm game in the mobile (Android) platform, called BanG Dream! Girls Band Party, or shortened as Bandori. It is actually pretty good to say aside from it's high system requirements and that the game can overheat your phone easily if you play it for continous amounts of time. I was quite of a newbie for it at first, but then I kept getting better and better at the game. So good that i can actually Full Combo one of the hardest songs in that game, "Guren no Yumiya", on EXPERT difficulty. I haven't reachieved that and since my phone sometimes have problems, that might not be possibly doable for me again for now. Unless i get a new android phone or an iPhone.
On the other hand. The Nuzlocke variant, Idolocke, which is introduced by ErynCerise, isn't too much of a popular thing. Most people here or in the Nuzlocke communiy forums are probably not good with knowing any of the characters from rhythm games or these games themselves. Don't worry though, there have been several Idolocke runs (but none of them have been officially finished aside from ErynCerise's own run.
Anyways. Time to explain the rules and get started.
EDIT: I have finally created a self-made banner for this run! Here it is:
RE: EDIT: I also made a group-chat side story! This serves as a more comical relief style character interaction and focuses on using characters that otherwise seem to have little relevance in the main story! Here is the link to the supplementary fiction

Anyways. Time to explain the rules and get started.
1. As per Traditional Nuzlocke rules...
1A. If a Pokemon faints it can never be used again, must be permaboxed. (Usually the term to describe this as death, but for this nuzlocke variant run i feel it goes too dark. I'd refer to this as "Disabled", and refer to victims of such as "Casualities".)
1B. Only one Pokemon per individual area (not specifically limited to routes, mind you). Also, specific areas with multiple parts will be handled specifically, they might or might not fall to Pinwheel Clause, if they are two parts with significantly different encounters they will be treated as seperate. I must try to get to catch on the first legimate encounter... or else, if it faints. (In case of running away, i will ignore it, since wild Abra or Ralts or anything with Teleport can be prety scrappy and want to screw up with encounters.)
1C. Everyone has their names, even your companions too. (Nickname rule)
2. The specific recruitment rules are following listed:
2A. Well, as Eryn probably said it, only females allowed.
2B. Dupes clause is in effect and will have a limit of 5 tries. Gender clause limit isn't implied since sometimes i just have bad RNG and keep running into males all the time. (Or Genderless.)
2C. Unlike Eryn, I wouldn't agree with the gift clause having to be elgible by gender in only one try. To make it up, I can receive a Gift Pokemon as long as it can (and will) be a Female, although the diffuclty of the song i will play willscale to the gender ratio. Normal for 1 male : 1 female or 1 male : 3 females, Hard for 3 males : 1 female, Expert for 7 males : 1 female (though the middle one is probably unlikely to happen, it is most likely to be the latter with some exceptions being in the former.) Static encounters are also treated like this. Gift and Static Encounter Pokemon are meant to be available to the player more easily, anyways! This self-made variation clause reduces the luck factor and focuses more on rhythm gaming skill factor, which is at least more fair for me EDIT: I decided that I just need some real challenge in Live Shows. All gift encounters are considered as Expert difficulty.
2D. Legendaries: None of them, unless female. Even so, the only ones would be available are Latias, Heatran and Cresselia, none of them are necessarily overpowered. Exceptions are in below...
2E. Shiny Clause! If I encounter a shiny then i must go catch it! Gender clauses and Dupe clauses will go off the rails for once. However, unlike the original rules since I'm using a shiny boosted version of the hack i must still play an audition song for it. Fair game anyways since if i didn't, i would definitely get a lot of free members... it also offsets the somewhat high difficulty of in-game in the hack.
3. Who said you could get one for free in this world? Every catch you get must be tested in the musical test of auditions. Pass it and you keep it. Fail, and you lose it.
3A. The rhythm game used for this will be BanG Dream! Girls Band Party as above. No Energy Boost or Note Boost skills allowed. Max energy bt default is always 1000, so it is fair game to use higher rarity cards if they are pure scorers or conditional scorers. As long as Energy or Note boost or any similar effects are not included in their skills. The songs have to be played in Free Live mode (the single-player mode). EDIT: "Special" Difficulty now counts as Expert.
3B. The song's difficulty for wild encounters will be Normal for regular Poke Balls and Premier Balls (I treat Premier Balls as an effect of buy 10 get 1 free), Hard for Great Ball and most non-orthodox Pokeballs (except for Dusk Ball, also Timer Ball is fair since you need to take so long for it to achieve it's max possible catch rate and you might either finish the encounter before this or you will keep struggling otherwise, which i see it as a desperation case), and Expert for Ultra Ball, Dusk Ball (because, well, Dusk Balls are too overpowered for catching wise because the condition is simple, Night time or in caves. Even if it doesn't help for other conditions, i would still consider it too broken for it's 3.5x catch rate modifier, which is almost twice Ultra Ball's catch rate modifier!), and of course Master Ball (for that, i will delegate a high level Expert song).
3C. Scoring for judgment for passing and getting an encounter properly is based on Energy remaining and Max Combo. I feel like it can sometimes be difficult to get past specific parts of a song and easily break your combo with a Good on a middle part but not getting any Bad or Miss on any other parts of the song. The scoring will take 50% of energy score and 50% of combo score. Energy score is based on remaining energy at the end of the song, divided by 10. Combo score is based on percentage of the combo achieved. And then half of the Energy score and half of Combo score will be added together for the chance (and rounded up to the next single digit), and the roll is using a d100. Roll lower than or the same as the required number and it is considered a success. (Ignore the scoring if the song is cleared with a Full Combo, which is anguarenteed 100% chance of being accepted in to the team, or if the Live Show is failed, which means you must permabox instantly) This might be complicated, but I can use the calculator to calculate it.
3D. My phone and I might have problems. If for some reason the audition process must be interrupted to something important, or my phone lags too much as if it wants to force me to fail, or it have problems with the touch screen, i can retry the song.
4. Members are obligatory to stay together in groups of three known as "Units". Well, the active main members at least.
4A. There can be only up to three active units and the rest will sit on a waiting room until they get their chance. Also, since we cannot carry more than 6 in actual game (obligatory Pokemon rules, sic) one unit functions as a "reserve unit".
4B. A fan rule i made myself, to make the runs more interesting because it might get boring to keep the same members all the time in case, after each checkpoint (gym, also counts for Victory Road which is before the League and also before climbing Mt. Silver), you can choose any of the 9 members to temporarily remove them from main units, and place them back in the waiting room. Then a random number will pick randomly which member from the waiting room to join in.
4C. Should a member of the unit fall in battle, the other members must fight in their place, to suffer the same fate or to emerge victorious.
4D. Once there is a vacant slot due to a member being defeated in battle, they will be replaced by a member in the waiting room if possible, and will be randomly picked in the same way as rule 4B (due to the randomizing factor as well.)
4E. Units must have names too. I will focus my creativity on here.
4F. For Double Battles, use two members of the same unit. If you're down to one member on an unit but another unit is available, then you can make an exception here. You cannot switch either member, however.
5. The challenge must go on until you exhaust your entire musician cast or complete the challenge (I will be going through both Johto and Kanto unlike ErynCerise who only completed the Jotho section.)
5A. However you lose in Elite Four, Lance or Red, then game over. Period.
5B. The encounter rules will be properly in effect once you have the Poke Balls. Losing the first rival battle is also forgiven. (The gift Eevee still gets treatmens from the gift pokemon clauses though)
5C. Most importantly, have fun and preserve the spirit of the Nuzlocke (variant).
