Hey there! New around here? Still trying to figure things out? Well, good news, that's what this thread is for. I'm going to start us off by linking some helpful guides for different information sources on the forum, and then from there we can address some questions you may have - if you still have questions after that, you can ask them in thread, and they may even end up added to this guide!

So here are a few useful resources for a new user:

• Rules of the Nuzlocke Forums - The rules of the forums are very important! Make sure you read up on these so you're familiar with what's okay and what's not.
• How to use the Forums - This gives you a basic rundown of some Xenforo exclusive features - the top nav, streaming, bookmarking runs, following users, using the media galleries, etc.
• Help index - This index offers a number of useful features, including a list of emojis on the forum, a list of bbcode, how to use it, and what it does (very important), a list of trophies you can earn on the site, and information about cookie usage, our terms of use, and our privacy policy. You might find some of this useful.
• Nuzlocke Forum Official Discord Servers - These are the rules and invite links to our three official servers
• Trophies, and You - This is a guide to help explain trophies as a concept, since they are new to Xenforo.
• Add or Remove Your Roles Here - If there's a basic role you want, then this thread will help you get it.
• A Guide to Posting Your Run in Fan Challenge Runs - If you ever want to make and post a run of your own, then this guide will prove essential. It covers everything from what runs go there to how to format it to how to post it and beyond.
• Creative Content Guide - This has some tips for the different prefixes unique to the Creative Corner, and explains the forum's purpose and what kinds of threads you'll find in it. Give it a look!
• About Pokémon and Challenge Discussion - This guide explains the dual purpose of the PCD forum and what the prefixes you'll find in there are intended for.
• A Guide to Festival Plaza Games - If you ever want to post your own Festival Plaza game, this guide will help you get started!

With that all established, let's cover a few questions you may have that aren't covered by any of these. For length considerations, as we may later end up adding more questions, I intend to spoiler each of these with the question being the title from here. If you don't find a question that covers what you're looking for, feel free to ask in post below.

Spoiler: I don't like my current name. How do I change it?

Click on your name in the top right, then click on "Account details". From there, you'll see a box with your current username in it. You can edit that and then hit "Save" at the bottom to finalize your change. Please keep in mind you can only change your username once every 30 days, so make sure you have the name you want!

Spoiler: People have some fancy stuff going on on the left, like a box with text and a cool title under their name. How do I get that?

Good question! Click on your name in the top right, then click on "Account details". On this page you'll see a number of areas to let you customize how your profile appears to other people. The white block of text with a border around it is your Pokedex entry, and the text below your name is your custom title.

Spoiler: How do I get a colored name?

Well, there are a few ways to do that. The most common way to is to go to Add or Remove Your Roles Here and request one of the roles listed there - this will change your username's color in accordance with the role in question. You may notice some colors are not listed on here. Those are reserved for staff!

Spoiler: What's with the banner things on the side of your profiles, how do I get one?

Well, most of the banners are used specifically to denote staff members by the type of staff they are and what all they do. There is one exception, though... the Team banners. Those are for anyone.

...How do you get a Team banner? Well, I'm sure you'll get the message sooner or later.

Spoiler: How do I change my signature?

Click on your name in the top right, and then click on "Signature". That should bring you to the editing window. From there, do your stuff.

I want to move my nuzlocke comic thread from the old nuzforums to here, though I want it to be under the Incomplete runs because well, it's incompleted. How would I do that?
Do I have to tag the thread with incomplete? Or put in the thread description or in the OP that it's incompleted? I'm not planning to continue the comic as it is, and even if I want to go back it at a future time, I'd rather reboot the whole thing.
BTW I actually haven't moved the nuz comic thread yet because I'd like to know this first.

@dv9l hi! if you want a thread to be moved into Incomplete, you have to post it into Fan Challenge Runs first, then message a mod or admin and ask for it to be moved into Incomplete Runs. We'll do so right after!

I took a look at the trophies, and I'm confused at some of the things they mentioned. Like, how do you know what difficulty ranking your ruleset is, and how do you know what your rating score at the end is? And how do you actually prove some of them, like having no burn heals in your inventory when fighting Blaine?

Oh, you know, that is really fair to be confused about. Most of these trophies are based off a Nuzlocker ELO system Xerx has created. It didn't see much use on Tapatalk because, well, Tapatalk. As for some of the more weird or obscure ones: if you can prove it by doing a run, do it. Make a show of it! Acquire your trophies.

@Alex_Nidas Everything you asked about is explained on the Nuzlocke Ratings website, which you can find a detailed explanation of here. As for proof... well, we'll have to just trust you on it.

On the subject of trophies, just an FYI: For anyone unaware, there is a full list of trophies linked in the Resources section here. This is linked to in the new user FAQ thread, but some veterans may not think to check there.

Generally speaking, the resources page is a new feature that wasn't available in Tapatalk so some users may not be familiar with the type of content you can find there. Don't be afraid to browse that section, there's a lot of good stuff to read!

There's not a specific age requirement involved in joining the mod team (assuming that's what you mean by "staff" anyways). We intend to let people know the next time we're looking for staff, and we'll be accepting applications at that time for those positions.

Hey.

I got a maybe stupid question about Trophies -- Are Trophies gonna be grandfathered in (IE: One of your runs on the Zetaboards/Tapatalk did a certain thing which allowed you to get a Trophy) or only runs starting at this very moment only count towards trophies? I'm just curious, please don't bite me ^^;;

Yeah, runs from before are fine to use for trophies. It's essentially:

Is it better to wait for our runs to be transferred over to here? Like will they come with the views and replies? Or should I just start reposting everything again?

They will come with the replies, but posts made past May 9th (the archive date) will have to be ported over manually. If you want to get started sooner, porting manually may be the way to go.

Damn gonna miss that sweet 60k view count.

Is there any word of an E.T.A. on when those posts might start showing up? And do certain runs have priority over others like say, the inactive or completed runs are posted last?

Because I might just start reposting my inactive one again myself and restart it here. Would that be a good idea?

FCR is close to being ready to import, but there are still a couple things that need to be done. It should hopefully be done within the next week or two.

So what happens to runs that have already been ported manually. Will those be properly merged by request?

What we're likely to do is import everything to a hidden read-only subforum and move threads from there to FCR by request. This is the most efficient option for a few reasons. Firstly, dumping hundreds of thousands of posts into FCR is far from ideal, as while no threads would be overwritten, it'd just cause a big mess. The second reason is that imported posts keep their original posters' usernames, but the system sees them as guest users; we'd need to go through and change each "guest" post's author to the actual user to allow for editing and the like. This process should be automatable, but I haven't started writing the script yet, and I'll need to assemble a list of users' old and new usernames.

Edit: The imported FCR subforum will most likely be read-only, not hidden.
