Tuesday for me so why not update?

@DistortionLocke Sadly yes KFC
Tabes and Asclepius are a fun dynamic.
Asclepius is someone who just can't die but is almost overly cautious while Tabes is very much mortal but is as reckless as can be.
That contrast in personality and actual species is fun to work with

@Faleep Nice to see you caught back up
Definitely working to make this funny but also very brutal to keep in the spirit of your works
Think I'm doing fairly well there

So Tabes left on his own, and left me to work towards Celadon. Along the way I found a new Torchic, named it Cordon Bleu and safely evolved him. He’s on the same boat as Pancake, doesn’t really trust me, but since being with me is better than the wild he puts up with it. Arugula seems concerned about me, maybe he doesn’t get that I heal quickly.

Getting to Celadon was easy, but long. I spent a night in Lavender Town because there’s something about it that keeps the zombies away. There were a few survivors here. There isn’t really any dependable source of food around here, so they were mainly using it for temporary shelter like me. A quick nod was all we did to interact, but it was enough. They’re probably on their way to Palette Town or Saffron. But I have other destinations for me.
Celadon, ten. Which generated some complaints, not because of zombies, but because while looking around I found the Game Corner and took a look inside.

Asclepius stared at the poster on the Game Corner’s wall. The machines were all broken and coins were spilled everywhere, but the poster was intact. In fact it was oddly new. And it had a large red R displayed right on it. The same R that Tabes first wore and was on the corpses at Cerulean. “..... well.” Asclepius lifted the poster and right underneath was a button. A poster sounded like a laughable excuse for a cover, but then again who goes around lifting posters? Well he was, but he had an excuse. The poster had a letter worn by a zombie who was also Kanto’s champion and was suspiciously hanging up in an abandoned casino. Perfectly logical, Asclepius thought to himself as he pressed it. A second later the floor vibrated and the tiles on his right fell down to create a stairway which he descended down into the dark.

Once he got to the bottom, the stairs retracted. Walking down the hall he found himself in, Asclepius immediately backpedaled before he could walk straight into a recreational room where several people sat, watching a TV. He pressed himself against the wall and listened for anyone approaching. A minute passed until he realized that the only noise was coming from the TV and looked around the corner. In total there were four people in the room. None were moving even the slightest. Asclepius walked over to a couple bodies on a couch. Both dead, stabbed repeatedly, and pretty recently. The other two showed similar wounds and states of depravity. He guessed it had only been a few hours since they were killed, but he wasn’t sure what it could’ve been. It wasn’t a knife or any other bladed weapon, the wounds were round, like a stake... Like... Asclepius put his bag down and pulled out his otoscope to check the ears of the bodies. All had ruptured eardrums. All were stabbed with a cylindrical object. “... Tabes.”

In short, Tabes had arrived in Celadon and checked out the Game Corner earlier in the day. He also found the button and proceeded to render everyone deaf with Earrape and then took his time shanking everyone in the room. And then repeated for the rest of the building. I found about five more scattered around the place. All the while I was watched by security cameras, so someone else was in the bunker. A very paranoid someone given the rest of the security system. Speeding converter belts that would send you flying into a wall if you stepped on the wrong one. With the cameras tracking me the whole time I was expecting a laugh track to start playing every time that happened. Anyway, I got to the lowest level and found the panic room. Conveniently I found a key card on one of the bodies. Given the dents in the door, Tabes didn’t think of that.

Asclepius swiped the keycard on the door’s scanner and waited for it to open. On the other side, sitting on a couch with a large red R on it and watching a series of monitors displaying the bunker’s security footage, was a man with short black hair in an expensive black suit. “Paean, I presume?” He addressed Asclepius. “I did hear that the elder Oak had asked a Being with amazing regeneration to co-” The man suddenly erupted into harsh coughs for a few seconds. “Pardon me. As I was saying, I’m aware of your plan to collect the gym badges,”
“Yes. And are you planning to tell me that it’s a fool’s errand?”
“Fool’s errand?” The man was actually offended and stood up. “On the contrary, I actually pray for your success. As you may suspect my businesses are... less than ethical, but that doesn’t mean I care not for the people of Kanto.”
“You created Tabes,” Said as a statement, Asclepius was willing to gamble.
“Tabes- Oh so that’s his name? The human infected, yes I had a hand, but I assure you,” The man turned to face Asclepius who immediately drew his gun. The man looked as well as one would expect for being months into the apocalypse, but with sickly green eyes. Tabes’ eyes. “It’s all for the survival of my species,” Asclepius pulled the trigger.
Click
“.....” He pulled the trigger again and heard a click with each one. “... You’re alive.”
“I.. Did you just attempt to kill me?” The man said with a face of disgust. “I thought you had more tact than that.”
“You kidnapped the champion, killed him, let the zombie plague take hold in him, and have apparently done something similar to yourself. You show symptoms of an active infection, so I assumed that meant your body was dead. But since my gun refuses to fire, that means you’re alive.”
“.... pft,” The man turned his head to hide his grin for a moment. “You think I would buy that’s how your gun wor-”
BANG
Asclepius holsted his gun, having shot a body at the end of the hall to prove his claim. “Let’s get back to the you-murdering-the-champion thing.”
“.... Fine. I, in fact, did not kill the younger Oak. Rather I tried to save him.”
“By infecting him.”
“Yes, actually. When my underlings found him, he was on the brink of death. We had been testing a way to control the disease, find a way to domesticate it in a sense, but it would only thrive in those near death. So I decided to introduce a strand of the plague to the human host to see what would happen. Once it took hold it was a battle of wills, and Gary Oak’s was the one to give out. And later, mine would be the one to overcome.”
“....” Asclepius pulled his gun out again.
click
“Could you stop that?”
click click click
“Eventually this will work,” Asclepius muttered and gestured to the monitors. “Did you end up watching the massacre on those?”
“.... yes. Tabes, as you call him, ambushed us. I was already in here and all of my subordinates in the building weren’t able to get here in time... As you can see,” The man looked at the bodies scattered about on the screens. Asclepius walked over to them and noticed lower screens he initially didn’t see.

And then he saw her.

A girl, maybe 17 at the oldest, in a cell. She sat in a chair with a blanket over her legs, staring at the walls.
“Explain.”
“.....” The man looked at the screen with sorrow. “I did what was needed.”
“Explain. Who is she, and why have you trapped her here?”
“She is one of your kind, a Being. One whose power is invaluable given the enemy we humans face, but she remains uncooperative.”
“Where is she?” Asclepius searched the other cameras, trying to see if there was another one near where the girl was kept. “I’m taking her, so where are you keeping her?”
“You think I’m simply going to let you walk out with her? What safety can you pro-” The man erupted into another coughing fit. “Ahem. What safety can you-”
“More than you can.”
“..... Fine then,” The man reached into his shirt and pulled out a key card. “I trust you know how to use this?” Asclepius had taken the card and was walking towards the elevator before the man finished. “One final note, Paean,” Asclepius decided to stop and hear the man’s parting words. “I recognize that you are working to help us humans, but if you try to stop my efforts, then I will deal with you as I would any other enemy.”
“Do so then,” Asclepius said before stepping into the elevator and descending even further downwards.

A new antagonist appears! And we finally get the full story on Tabes. I wonder why he’s trying to kill the Rockets, though? And I can wait to see Paean interact with another Being!

Alright before my day begins, let's do this now

@DistortionLocke Tabes has a bit more info that he'll share eventually.
And lucky you, this update is mostly the two of them.

Took a few minutes to get her to trust me. She was obviously terrified, having been abducted and all. I gained her... Well not trust, but something close enough when she saw I was also a Being. She couldn’t stand without support, so I’ll take a look at her later to see what needs to be addressed. Her name is Nary, and like me she’s a Being so she has powers. She can manipulate any plants within her range, which explains the suit man’s interest in her. No idea how exactly this applies to the zombies but that’ll be dealt with later. For now I need to try and get the center’s PC going to try and talk to Oak. He’ll want to know.

"You never gave me your name," Nary spoke for the first time since they got into the Pokecenter. "Earlier, you paused and then said to call you Paean, not that it was your name. So if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to know."
"It's Asclepius."
".... You named yourself after a god?" Her face scrunched up, repulsed by the deity status of his namesake. "I guess his area fits you, but that's still... not something we should do."
"Before he was a god, he was a human," Asclepius responded while he worked on powering up the PC. "As one he accomplished great things. He even invented a cure for death while still bound by the limits of mortality. Granted, he was stuck down for making it, but I think I can take a lightning bolt," Nary didn’t respond so he continued working in silence.
“..... why did you rescue me?” She finally asked. “I am thankful but... I don’t get it. What use do you have for me?”
“I am a healer and a doctor, I’ve made it my life’s work to help people as best I can.”
“..... Is… that all?”
“Yes,” The PC turned on so Asclepius walked over to his bag and looked for his medical supplies. “I am quite old, older than many would care to even count for, and I’ve spent my years using my power to heal. By this point I’ve made it my personal policy to help anyone who needs it. I can do exactly one thing almost flawlessly, so I’ll put it to use. On that topic, take off your pants.”
“Excuse me?” Nary leaned away from him. “Oh. Right my legs. Um... Can I just roll up the pants leg-
“If that’s more preferable,” He gave her time to get settled on a chair before crouching down to inspect. “Just say something if this hurts or you get uncomfortable.”
“they always hurt so....”
“......” Asclepius knew what was wrong as soon as his fingers felt the bones. “...... How... How many fractures? What did they do to you?”
“..... t-they-”
“No stop,” Asclepius interrupted, hearing the pain in her voice. “Don’t force yourself. I can get a clear enough picture from... this.” Nary nodded and stayed quiet for the rest of the inspection.

Quick trivia on bones. When broken they heal by having 'threads' of bone cells branching out to try and fill in the fracture, so they need to be properly aligned to make sure they rebuild as they should. Otherwise they'll just heal off model.
And that is what happened; a malunion.
Nary's legs were broken in multiple places and weren't treated properly
So the bones weren't aligned.
So they ended up healing while still misplaced.
So now her leg bones are more like tangled wires than actual structures meant to support a humanoid body and I can't do anything about it.
Her arms were broken as well, but not as badly as her legs. I guess they wanted to make sure she couldn’t fight back and went harder on the legs to make sure she later couldn’t run. And what a despicable job they’ve done.

“You can’t help me can you?”
“...... Not now. Not here.”
“Why not?”
“.... Your bones are a mess, to fix them they would need to be rebroken and reset so they heal properly,” Asclepius knew he try to set them here and he could use his blood to speed up her healing, but that would mean if he didn’t align her bones properly then it’d just reheal misshapen again. He stood back up and went to the PC. “I’ll see if there’s a way to get you somewhere safe until I can open the League.”
“You’re trying to collect the badges? With the region in this state?” She gestured to a window showing the remains of the town. “Alone?”
“Yes,”
“Why!?”
“Because someone must and I have the ability.”
“.... Is that-” Nary stopped at the sound of the PC ringing and the voice of Professor Oak came through it.
“Paean? It’s been well over a week, why didn’t you contact me earlier?!” The old man sounded both cross and relieved. “Actually, nevermind all that it doesn’t matter, how has the mission gone?”
“I have three badges, and I’ve arrived at Celadon for my fourth. How are you holding out?”
“Well enough. We can still hold out for about a month and a half, maybe three or four if we stretch rations-”
“No,” Asclepius cut him off. “When we make our way to the League we need everyone at full power, not half way. I will have this done in a couple more weeks, give people what they need.”
“........ You better make due on that promise Paean. Now get to the real reason why you’ve called. Don’t try to fool me. Radio silence for ten days and then a sudden call like this? You ran into something, or someone.”
“..... I did.” Asclepius’ hesitation didn’t escape the professor’s attention.
“Is it Gary? Paean, tell me, did you find my grandson?” Oak jumped right in with his main question and unfortunately Asclepius had the answer.
“.... yes.”
“Is he alive?”
“...... no.”

There was a lot of swearing.
And I did not mention Tabes.
That is all you need to know.
Our conversation ended with Oak hitting something causing the feed to become disconnected, so I didn’t get to tell him about Nary.

“......” Asclepius over to Nary who was staying very still and very quiet. “sorry you had to listen to that.”
“Let me help,” She tried to stand, but flinched at the pain and sat back down. “Please let me help you.”
“No. You do not need to do anything, I don’t want you to put yourself in any kind of danger.”
“Ascl- no, sorry, that still feels wrong. Paean, please I-I can help! Just get me to grass, then I’ll be fine. I can help.”
“No.”
“.... Fine I’ll- OW!” Nary tried to get up again and fell back down.
“Ok stop. I’ll get you outside, but I’m taking you back at the first sight of danger,” Asclepius took Nary’s arm and helped her out of the Pokecenter and through the town until he found grass to lay her down in. “Now the gym is-”
“The gym is behind that wall of trees and shrubbery,” Nary held her hands to the grass and willed it to grow around her. Her eyes were closed as she expanded her power over the area. “It’s the Grass gym and I’m an Aura, I can feel the amount of plant life in there and use it all.”
“And the zombies?”
“I can feel the mushies, yeah. They’re a bit weird. Like you’re walking on a floor made of individual tiles and some are slightly colder than the others. You can tell, but if you’re not looking for them it’s easy to miss,” She paused and turned her head as she felt something new. “And that is more like a tile is made of ice, what is that?”
“The badges enhance the zombie’s strength by a frankly absurd amount. If its host is weak, it’ll provide mutations to compensate, otherwise it just makes it properly sentient on top of the strength boost.”
“Do I just need to take the badge?”
“If you could, that would be optimal,” Asclepius watched as Nary swayed on the ground while moving her hands like a conductor guiding an orchestra through a symphony. The sounds of zombies in pain and general plant based violence contrasted a bit with her elegant movements, but it was working and he wasn’t going to object. “How does your power influence the zombie exactly?”
“I can’t control them outright. It’s a mix of them being part fungi, something I already have a hard time controlling, and being an actual virus. It’s more plant adjacent,” Suddenly the sounds of assaulting vegetation vanish. “Got the badge, one mo,” The grass rustled as it swayed to a nonexistent breeze and eventually deposited a small flower with multicolored petals. The Rainbow Badge. “Here you go.”
“......” Asclepius couldn’t quite pin down what he was feeling now having gotten a badge without serious injury. “So as long as you can touch grass you can move on your own?”
“Any plant thing really.”
“... Alright, you can help me, but if I say to get away, you do so, understood?”
“YES! I mean- uh... yes.”
“Good. Then we’ll move to Fuschia tomorrow,” Asclepius said as he helped Nary back to the Pokecenter. He was going to need to protect her, but it seems she wasn’t completely defenseless.
For the first time in a while, he smiled to himself.

hello nary i love you

also it's such a nice change of pace to like be able to take a badge via "peaceful" means (as in, plant-based violence occurs but like paean over here does not see it so there aren't descriptions of carnage) and awwwww, this poor girl has been through a lot huh

Perhaps I should’ve picked a less morbid profession, but.... I can’t say I regret it.

^Yes sir!

But really I love this whole concept!!! Be still, my medical heart! Plus zombies- what more can you ask for?! I really want Comet and Asclepius to have a conversation and swap war stories~

Midnight
So now it's Tuesday
Which means it's time to update!

@DistortionLocke Yep! Finally some company that Asclepius can talk with and not have to worry about possibly consuming later.

@sky_ Nary is fun, and I hope you continue to enjoy her.
And don't worry we'll get back to destructive gym fights soon enough

@Spectacles Nice to see you all caught up
Asclepius very much questions some life choices, but he still is committed to being a doctor and healer above all else
Though I have a feeling he'd like his qualifications to be something more than "can't die" for this scenario
Yeah he probably has a lot of stories, none on the front lines, but he's definitely seen a lot of shit

So um...
Paean suggested I keep a journal myself, mainly to give me something to do. He also said that it helped to pretend I’m writing to an audience so uh...
Hi?
Paean is working through the Fuchsia gym and refused to let me go in. The “boss mon” is a Venusaur that’s covering the place with poison gas and I don’t do very well with toxins. I guess he’s working on tanking that while I’m sitting here… Sitting. There’s not really much for me to do, Paean has everything down, I just serve as a mushie radar. Really I just want to be use- Help. I want to help.
So guess I should write down a list of what I can do to brainstorm.
I’m an Aura, so I only control pre-existing plant life. If there aren’t any plants I can’t do much. My connection to the mushies is weird. I can detect them, but controlling is another thing. The shrooms part of the virus, the bit I can control, is only the skeleton part. I have to fight against the bacteria portion that serves as the nervous system in the world’s most messed up game of tug-of-war. By the time that I can properly manipulate them they’re almost completely decomposed, more plant than Pokemon. They’re mush.
So I can stall but not much else. To really fight I need to be in an area with a lot of plant life, or I need my seeds, which the Rocket people took from me when... you know.
Paean already salvaged what he could find from the Game Corner hideout, and none of my stuff was there. I think I remember hearing some of the grunts talk about Silph Co, so maybe there’s something more there
.

BOOM

The explosion made Nary jump in her seat and stare at the entrance to the Pokecenter. She sat in silence for a few minutes before getting up to see what happened and grabbed some crutches Asclepius found for her. She was opening the door when Asclepius walked in and almost ran into her. “Sorry,” He said as he moved around her. She looked outside and saw a pillar of smoke rising up from where the gym was meant to be.
“.... Did you blow up the gym?” Nary asked incredulously.
“It wasn’t my initial plan, but it’s what worked. I could withstand the poison, barely. My healing cancelled out any corrosive factor, but even with goggles any amount of the toxins in my eyes would be like ten canisters of tear gas. Also,” He held up his right arm, which was bare, his coat’s sleeve having been eaten away, and hairless. “I managed to get close to the thing, but it just spit out poison which melted my arm instantly, so there was no way any Pokemon I sent out would live. I had some time to kill while waiting for my arm to grow back, so I experimented, and I found out the gas was highly combustible. So having Combusken send an Ember from a safe distance wrapped that up quite well.”
“... Ok but you blew up the gym.”
“There’s going to be a lot of reconstruction eventually, it’s not that big a deal,” He walked into the back room and walked out with a new coat identical to the one that got melted. “We still have a fair amount of daylight left, we should probably head to Saffron and see if we can get in. Since Silph Co has its HQ there, it got the resources to barricade the town,” If Asclepius had been paying attention he would’ve seen that Nary flinched a bit. “Unfortunately for us the gym is inside the barrier they put up, so the best case scenario is that we’re let in but somehow I doubt it.”
“..... And if we’re not?” Even though she knew the answer she still was in disbelief with how nonchalant Asclepius gave it.
“Then we’ll break in. Either by finding a gap in the defenses, or if that fails, we can just use your powers to let ourselves in.”
“I feel like that would cause us a lot of trouble.”
“Then we best be quick. Get ready to head out.”

So uh
We got to Saffron.
Didn’t tell Paean about Silph Co...
....
Anyway, slightly more importantly we kinda have to break in because someone attacked the Gym Leader and the place was in total lockdown until they could find the guy. Paean pointed out that he was a doctor but they still didn’t let him in so I grew us some vines to climb up.
And then Paean....
He um.
Broke into the gym leader’s house to check on her because, and I quote, “I think my mission is of a higher morality than any laws.”
And so he did. I don’t think anyone could have stopped him. This entire place has paved over every inch of greenery so I certainly couldn’t. He treated the gym leader but walked out without a badge and a bit of a potty mouth.
He hasn’t told me anything, but he’s also writing stuff down so I guess I’ll learn later.

It was Tabes.
He walked into the gym to steal the badge and Sabrina got in his way. Fortunately he didn’t stab her somewhere lethal. He even gave her a message to give to me, how kind.
He’s waiting in Silph Co and wants me to hurry, because he doesn’t have much life left.
I tested with the virus he left in Sabrina’s wound and confirmed what I figured. I ate KFC, who Tabes infected, so I’ve developed antibodies to Tabes’ specific strain.
Some of the blood vials I gave him were taken after I developed the antibodies so when Tabes got around to drinking that blood it healed the body of Gary Oak, but dissolved the virus that holds Tabes’ consciousness. Even a drop means his lifespan had dropped drastically.
He can’t heal his host, so he’s speedrunning his revenge plot on Rocket, and he’s in the mindset of “you’re with me or against me” given his attack on Sabrina.
So if I’m going to Silph Co then I’m gonna need to fight him. And who knows how strong his Pokemon are now.
Not to even mention the man I met in the bunker.
.... I need to actually level up my Pokemon. Above help me.

I love how Asclepius's limbs are just casually melting off from the poison and he's just totally chill about it, planning his next move. What a cool power. And I love Narry's journaling!

It's Tuesday for me so have your weekly dose of body trauma

@Spectacles He's dealt with a lot, his healing factor is only rivaled by his pain tolerance.
And happy to see you enjoy Nary's pov bits!

@DistortionLocke He's not exactly a man of restraint, is he?
Really it's why I like him, he's always doing absurd feats but he's very casual about it so you don't think about it until someone else comments on it.

Thankfully the hardest part of leveling my Pokemon up was getting in and out of the city to do so. I typically avoid carrying a full team. Six is too many for me to safely keep tabs on especially when I’m going against a guy who can infect them. But I don’t know who will be waiting in Silph Co, and three bullets isn’t going to cut it.
So got Arugula and Pancake still. Don’t know if I mentioned it before, but I got a new Combusken. Also have a Marshtomp, Kirlia, and Stantler. Stantler was a lucky one. Sometimes Pokemon that don’t evolve at all fall as easily as fully evolved ones.
Anyway, time to break into Silph Co.
Normally I’d try to give some form of explanation to the people around here, but I don’t really have time so I’ll let Sabrina handle it.

To Asclepius’ surprise the front door to Silph Co was unlocked. Granted he did sneak past about 15 guards, more than a few spotlights, and through two mini-camps all the while making sure Nary could get through as well, but this seemed like something that someone would’ve checked on. Then again, Tabes also managed to attack Sabrina, so maybe having normal civilians suddenly be positioned as guards wasn’t exactly foolproof. The bottom floor lobby was vacant thankfully, so Asclepius was free to search behind the front desk. He wasn’t the first to check. Everything was a mess, papers scattered everywhere and every drawer pulled open. “Um... Is this going to be a problem?” Nary waved him over to look at the elevator. The buttons had been smashed, or rather stabbed. Tabes didn’t want to be interrupted it seemed.
“...... We’ll have to take the stairs,” Asclepius started to say, but then the elevator dinged open. He spun around the lobby and noticed security cameras fixed right one him. Someone had sent it down for him and even wrote a note.

Reserved for Asclepius
  • Giovanni

Asclepius recognized the name, and the noise Nary made showed she did as well. The eighth gym leader of the region was the man from the bunker and now it looked like he wanted an audience. “Nary, stay down here,” She nodded and slowly worked over to hide behind the front desk messing with papers. Giving the cameras one last look, Asclepius stepped into the elevator and waited for the ride to begin.

Giovanni. Ground type leader of the Kanto region. Mob boss apparently.
I didn’t even need to meet him again to know for sure. I wonder what the League higher ups would think knowing their strongest gym leader committed so many atrocities claiming to be done in the name of saving the species.
But it seems he wants to talk. What a joy that will be.

Nary was more than content to just hide when Asclepius went to meet Giovanni. She had seen more than enough of the Rocket leader. So she sat organizing papers to keep her busy. Then she noticed something. A whisper growing louder, but one that didn’t make any noise. It was working its way down the building and eventually she was able to make out what it was saying. Who the actual fuck designed this building? Have the CEO’s office be not only on the top floor but SEALED OFF from the rest of the floor? Gio had to be laughing his ass off when he saw me destroy my only means of getting up there. Though me killing all his guys probably stopped that laughter. Still-
The voice cut off when one of Nary’s crutches fell and clattered on the ground. She stopped breathing when the voice’s owner walked up to the desk and looked over it, right at her. Filthy dark brown hair, pale skin, and green veins. And those soulless corrupted-bloodshot eyes as he walked around the desk Nary saw more of him and his decrepit state. He walked with a limp and one of his arms was cut off midway through the forearm with a white bone jutting out. Infected. An actual infected human. A girl? Nary couldn’t move as the human infected crept closer and the soundless speech continued. Is she a Rocket? He raised his half-arm, bone poised to stab, but stopped. Nah, she doesn't look the type. And Healer probably hates me enough already. Wait. Healer?
“... Do you mean Paean?” She ventured.
“.... thew know Healer?” The infected’s voice came out stuffy and slurred, like he was talking around his tongue and not with it. Nary hearing what she realized were his thoughts repeating the same sentence was incredibly unsettling. “How? Ith he here?”
“Uh yeah, and um... You don’t need to speak, I can, uh…” She tried really hard not to shrink back, but the infected was getting too close for her comfort.
.... Oh, you’re like him, a Being. His thoughts took a passive tone. .... So you're telepathic?
“N-no, I control plants.... And since the zombie virus is technically a kind of fungus I guess that lets me hear what you think.”
I feel like that’s a bit of a leap
“You are a plague that only affects Pokemon but has assimilated with a human host, you don’t get to tell me what does and doesn’t make sense,” Now that the infected was clearly not hostile, Nary was able to get herself back up on her feet and crutches. Her voice still shook a bit. “... Do you... have a name?”
Tabes It took a second, but she remembered where the name came from.
“.... Did you decide on that to keep it in the same realm as Paean?”
Yeah. I couldn’t remember the other variant and even if I had at the time I don’t think I could’ve pronounced it. Mouths are weird. Have you ever become aware of your tongue?
“Yes. I was held captive by Rocket for a while, I didn’t really have much to occupy myself with until Paean found me.”
Speaking of whom, where’d he go?
“Uh he went up, he sent the elevator down,” Her tone and expression got across who she was talking about to Tabes.
So Giovanni is up there huh? He looked up as though trying to send death threats to the Rocket leader telepathically, but only Nary could hear them. .... Well let’s wait until Healer gets back and maybe I can have a crack at him, eh? He put us both through a lot of pain, maybe I’ll let you get a stab in too.
“...... What’d he do to you?”
Did Healer not tell you?
“Paean didn’t even tell me you existed.”
Hm. Tell me, do you recognize this face? Tabes gave her a filthy grin and flipped his hair dramatically, but Nary didn’t have any idea what she was meant to see. ...... Ok, how about the name Gary Oak?
Oh.
Yeah there you go. Now I’m obviously not him, but I have a fair bit of his memories. Including his very long very painful death. All the while Gio stood there watching. Never even gave him the chance to live, just shoved me in there until I was starving and ate what I could. And my first thought was his last; a very strong urge to kill Rockets.
“.....o-ok,” Nary was starting to understand why Asclepius didn’t tell her about Tabes. She wasn’t sure how to respond and sat in silence trying to process everything when she became aware of something else. Another presence, another whisper. “..... Get away from me.”
Wha- Hey! I know I’m in the process of decomposing but no need to be rude.
“No it’s... I think I hear something and I want to make sure it’s not you,” Nary motioned for him to take a few steps back and slowly started to expand her power. Her aura crawled up the building. She felt pot plants and the occasional scrap of shroom plague that probably fell off of Tabes. Then she hit something and it hit her back. Something absolutely vile and she pulled her power back while her stomach pushed its contents out. Tabes ran back to check on her, but she raised her hand to stop him. “.... i don’t know what is up there but it doesn’t want to be interrupted…” She managed to mutter. She managed to move herself out from behind the desk and sit in one of the empty chairs while she thought about what happened. A presence like Tabes was above, but far darker and sinister. And if it could hurt her just from sensing her presence, what could it do to Asclepius?

Ohhhh no no no that really doesn't sound good, poor Paean over here is not only going to fight this unknown creature but has literally taken the elevator up so the others may not be able to follow him dkljfhdk unless Tabes took it back down? So now the two could use it to follow him up? And Paean's definitely gonna be okay... right?

Is it Tuesday....
Well it's close enough

@DistortionLocke An appropriate response

@sky_ Asclepius definitely has something waiting for him above
And as for what it is... Well just read this update

Asclepius waited as the elevator rose up and opened for him to step out. He walked through the single hall and came to a sealed metal door with a camera watching over it. He didn’t look at the camera, he just stood staring at the door until it opened. “Is this going to be how we keep meeting?” He said to the man from the bunker who was in the same spot as when they first met; in a chair staring at a wall of monitors showing security footage of his dead subordinates.
“I did not make it as far as I have by being reckless, Paean,” Giovanni’s voice wasn’t hoarse but it was definitely rough. It sounded like it was going through a microphone with something wrapped around it. “I will deploy reasonable caution, and cameras are a comfort. If there is something I don’t want in my building then I want to know where it is so I may deal with it.”
“How did that play out? Tabes arrived for you, yet you had no issue waiting in here while those who were under you suffered. Again.”
“Previously it was an ambush that I wasn’t made aware of until it was almost done. This time I was…” Giovanni finally turned to look at Asclepius. “Occupied.”
“hm” Asclepius slowly raised his gun at the sight of Giovanni’s face.
“Please. Don’t-”
Click
“Satisfied?” Asclepius didn’t say anything, but he holstered his gun. Last time Giovanni had early signs of infection; green-bloodshot eyes and his skin slightly tinted the same green. Now the tint was more pronounced and one eye was completely coated in plague gunk. His hair was starting to fade to white and grow thin. “Right now I’m in the more dramatic stages, but I have resisted and will continue to do so. No matter what.”
“Resist what exactly?” Giovanni remained silent but Asclepius noticed that the fully infected eye seemed to move and focus on him. “It’s starting to grow its own consciousness. Unlike with Tabes, it’s not giving you the courtesy of letting you die before taking over your mind.”
“..... yes,” Giovanni let out a frustrated sigh and covered his fully infected eye for a moment. “It calls itself the White Horse. The steed of Pestilence.”
Click
“It hasn’t won yet, Paean,” Giovanni rattled out, knocking the gun away so it wasn’t aimed at him. “Right now our existence is symbiotic. It needs my body to grow and I need it if I am to survive. We both fight for the fate of our respective species. It may be powerful, but it doesn’t have what us humans have; the ability to adapt.”
“No, you adapt to natural events. You adapt to changing temperatures, to shifts in the landscape, to the new species of wild Pokemon. But not diseases, those you must eliminate to live on. You didn’t adapt to measles and smallpox, you had to create something to erase them.”
“Those are basic parasites. Bacteria that only destroy to reproduce. This plague is much more, it can repair wounds that normally lead to death and so long as it receives a steady supply of nutrients then it can preserve the body.”
“That is not how we work-” Asclepius started, but was interrupted by Giovanni shouting out.
“No, that is not how you work, Paean!” He stood up at last and reached into his pocket. “Even among your own kind, you are resistant to death's call. You do not understand what it is like to live with the fear that one day your very existence will simply go away, you have not felt the drive to overcome that is experienced by those who realize their end is near. All you do is bear witness to our final gasps, not knowing what it is we're breathing for,” Once he was done with his speech, Giovanni crumbled into a coughing fit and Asclepius stepped forward to help out of reflex, but finally noticed what Giovanni had in his pocket. A pokeball that he now opened. Asclepius found himself flying back against the wall by a Gardevoir’s psychic power and turned to it to see that it was infected.
“...... Is it safe to assume you chose your Gardevoir because you thought its bond with you would let you control it?” The psychic force intensified, embedding him deeper into the wall. “Well congratulations, it looks like your experiment worked.”
“Tell me Paean. Just how far are you willing to go to stop me?” Giovanni ordered his Gardevoir to lift Asclepius up so the two could be eye to eye. “How determined are you?”
“As long as you plan to harm others then I will keep going.”
“Then allow me to change your mind” Giovanni held up a key. “This is to a private ship of mine that’s still docked in Vermillion. If you want I will give it to you and you can speed from there to Cinnabar to Pallet Town and meet me at my gym so I can grant you the final badge. You just need to give me your word that you will not interfere with my efforts.”
“.....” Asclepius struggled to move his arms up so he could remove his goggles and look at Giovanni directly. “As long as you plan to harm others, I won’t stand by.”
“Hm,” Giovanni gave the key to his Gardevoir who swallowed it. “I will still give you the opportunity to receive it, but you will have to fight for it.”
“You’ve just made your own Pokemon a sacrifice.”
“Paean,” He looked back at Asclepius as he walked onto a glowing tile. “All my Pokemon are ready to give themselves up for me. For them it is an honor,” The last thing Asclepius saw before his neck snapped was a flash of light as Giovanni teleported away.

I won and got the key.
My spinal cord still functions even if it’s not properly fixed so I was able to get a jump by sending out my Pokemon when it thought I was still paralyzed.
....
I started with six
Now I have two
That is all

Asclepius stepped out of the elevator and was greeted with a sudden silence as Nary stopped whatever she was saying and looked over to him while Tabes dodge rolled behind a chair. “THEW BE-THER THOT BE PLTHANN-ING THANY-THING THEALER!”
“....... Oh so that’s what happened to you,” Asclepius commented. “I’m guessing you had to grow a new tongue and it’s giving you more trouble?”
“That’s the jist, yeah,” Nary motioned for Tabes to keep quiet. “Also um. I can apparently hear his thoughts,” Asclepius mulled over that revelation for a second.
“He is partly a fungus so I suppose that makes sense. Still, I apologize on Tabes’ behalf for whatever profanities you may overhear.”
“It’s not... Ok it’s a bit bad,” Nary admitted. “And um... What.. What was up there?”
“Giovanni. He infected himself and now we have a second one of whatever the term for Tabes would be.”
“Waith, wha?” Tabes pushed out.
“...... so that’s what i felt,” Nary said in a very quiet voice.
“You felt that?” Asclepius went to Nary’s side and sat next to her, but kept his distance due to the blood on him. “.... Are you ok?”
“No.”
“... Right.”
“Also could you explain....” Nary just stared at Asclepius’ bloodstained gloves.
“I’ve secured us a way to Cinnabar,” He didn’t provide any other details. “Which reminds me,” He held a hand out to Tabes. “Badge. Now.”
“...... Oh, thight,” Tabes tossed over the Marsh Badge. “I wath-”
“He was planning to use it to bribe you to let him kill all the Rocket Grunts, but got ahead of himself,” Nary quickly translated. “Sorry.”
“Thou’re thine.”
“......” Asclepius pocketed the badge and stood up. “Nary we need to leave now. We’ve been here long enough and we need to get to Vermillion,” Without waiting for an answer he started towards the door and stood by it. Nary grabbed her crutches and got over to him. Tabes got the memo he wasn’t wanted and ran up the stairs. A moment later there was a sound of breaking glass and lots of yelling.
“I think he’s giving us a diversion,” Nary squinted in the direction of the commotion. “He’s a bit far. I can’t quite make out what he's thinking.”
“Then let’s go,” Asclepius opened the door, made a quick check that no one was around and led Nary on their escape from Saffron City.

Oh man that is one hell of a Giovanni. But honestly I think all that is totally in his character to do in these circumstances.

Before I sleep have an update

@Spectacles I had a lot of fun with this version of Giovanni
A man faced with the end of the world and rather than hide from the terror, he tries to embrace it
Even with one foot in the grave he doesn't give

@DistortionLocke He really did

We got to Cinnabar.
There... Wasn’t much.
It’s an island town established by those who wanted to search the Seafoam Islands and later developed into its own sort of hub for researchers. It became a town of scientists, a place dedicated for researchers to seek help for their own projects.
But it was completely reliant on imports.
And the SS Anne crashing into Vermillion’s port resulted in a complete shut off from abroad and Kanto’s mainland.
Some were able to escape to Pallet Town in the early days, but the plague made it impossible for boats and Surfing Pokemon to make the journey safely. We only managed to make it because Nary has a built in zombie radar and we were able to avoid the ones in the waters.
So when we did arrive...
I was at least lucky enough to find Blaine’s badge still on him.
Now we’re heading up to Pallet Town, where we’ll prepare for the final mad dash.
All I need to do is beat Giovanni and open the front door.

“I see you’ve gotten a companion with you now,” Professor Oak said with a hint of amusement. “Here I thought you’d be insistent on being alone for the whole journey.”
“Circumstances changed, and Nary can carry her weight. She’ll be useful in getting us to the league,” Asclepius set up shop in the middle of Pallet Town while looking over his assessment of the occupant’s health. He had been gone for a bit, but it seems there wasn’t anything serious. A few scratches and a couple broken limbs from fending off the undead, but nothing that’s life or death.
“She’s certainly eager to help. For the first time in a while we can properly eat,” Oak looked over to a line of people waiting for and carrying out baskets of vegetables. When she got to town Nary immediately sensed the food garden and started to speed grow the plants there. Asclepius found them a bit bland, but for everyone else they were dining on meals prepared by Siebold himself. “Now.... If I remember correctly the last thing you need is the Earth Badge. But that would require finding the gym leader and who knows where-”
“I’ve met Giovanni. He will be waiting for me,” Asclepius confirmed without waiting for Oak to finish. “We have unfinished business to attend to.”
“.... So those rumors were true,” Oak let out a sigh and leaned back in his chair. “I had heard of him indulging in activities outside of the law, but all of this happened before
I could investigate. But if he’s willing to give the badge to you... Then I suppose I can turn a blind eye to his actions for now.”

Asclepius said nothing.

“You think you’re ready to take him on, Paean? He is the eighth gym leader for a reason.”
“I think after the monstrosities I have had to face getting the other seven, I can handle a standard Pokemon battle even with a weaker team,” Oak seemed satisfied with that answer and didn’t venture from there. “How goes the training of my Pokemon?”
“Well you’re quite lucky to have found as many as you have. We did lose one of your Bagon when it evolved, but the other is fine.”
“That’s good,” Asclepius pulled out a small notepad and wrote something down. “I want to have as many as possible trained up to have on me.”
“The townsfolk would be more than happy to loan you some of their own,” Oak offered.
“No. I don’t want anyone risking more than they have to. I’ve kept my distance from the ones I’ve caught. Once I get to the league any remaining will be given to those who want to raise them.”
“....” Oak gave Asclepius a mournful look. “Pokemon are-”
“I know,” He knew. “But I- ... I will mourn later. Right now... I can’t. That’s a mistake I’ve made too much. They deserve more respect. But I can’t give them any as it is not my role.”
“And are you ok with that?”
“Yes.”
“... Paean, forgive me if this is rude but.... Just how old are you?”
“By this point, that number doesn’t have any meaning.”
“Hm,” Oak got to his feet and turned toward his lab. “I’m calling it a night. If you are gone before I wake... I hope you are successful before the day ends,” Asclepius waved goodbye as the old professor left and turned back to his work.

Hi, Nary again.
A little tired from growing veggies all day. I was hoping that they still had some berry trees around, but it seems all of them were burned because they kept luring infected Pokemon.
Understandable but....
I just really love Watmel, and Kanto is one of the few places they’re found naturally so I wanted to see if any trees were growing somewhere.
Sorry, off topic.
Asclepius is about to take on Giovanni and while he does that I have a lot to do.
How Victory Road works is that there are gates that can only be opened if you have a certain badge, with Giovanni’s being the last one. So it’s up to me to create a perimeter around me and the best fighters Pallet Town can afford to provide.
I’ll use my power to give everyone a safe space and occasionally to overcome terrain. There’s a cave that I can just grow over, it’s not that difficult.
All the while I need to maintain a vine so once Asclepius arrives I can just pull him over to us and get the last gate open.
It’s going to be really taxing so I need the rest.
Which is... a bit difficult knowing I have an incredibly vital role in saving the lives of potentially everyone still in the region.
The pressure is a bit much and...
I should probably talk to someone.

“Asclepius?” Nary willed the grass to move her over to Asclepius who was still at the town’s center. He was done with checking on everyone’s health and seemed to just be sitting alone lost in thought. “I... I have a lot of stuff on my mind and I was wondering if you could just... listen.”
“I am a doctor in just about every medical field, physical and mental, so I think that’s something I can do,” He got out of his chair and sat on the ground in front of her. “I can guess, but I’ll let you explain.”
“So I... You know what I need to do, so I won’t repeat but it’s just…” She took a breath and continued. “It’s not that I don’t think I can’t but.. I want to be use- I mean help, I want to help, but I’m not sure if I can do what everyone thinks I need to do and.. that worry won’t leave me alone.”
“I have an idea of the roots of that worry but to truly figure it out I’m going to ask questions that you will hate.”
“.... questions like what?”
“Like why do you keep cutting yourself off whenever you say the word ‘useful’?” Nary felt a thousand images fly through her mind before she answered.
“.... I... I guess I do do that.. because..” She tried to get the words out but kept stopping short.
“Don’t force it,” Asclepius said calmly. “Don’t try to tell yourself you’re ready to relive if you’re not.”
“... but what if I’m never going to be ready?” She had countless memories stored up. Ones stored away while others were seared into her mind and were impossible to ever move aside. “W-will I just end up keeping these to myself forever?”
“.... I don’t know. I will never pry into unpleasant memories, that goes against so many of the beliefs that guide me. But by those same beliefs I will be here. No matter the time or place, I am a healer of every kind, and it’s my duty to help you when you are ready.”
“.... ok,” Nary slowly pieced together her next sentence in her head before speaking. “I don’t think I’m quite ready to go into that just yet but… I will come to you when I am. It probably won’t be until this is over and… this is fixed,” She gestured to her legs. “... you can-”
“Yes,” Asclepius answered. “I don’t think you’ll like what I’m going to need to do, but I can mend your legs once we get into the League. Now go rest. You need it,” Nary nodded and grass glided away. She still had trouble falling asleep, but this time she felt more secure.
She felt like she didn’t need to prove that she was useful. She just needed to act and that’d be all she had to do.

Still Tuesday!
Just really late
Anyway let's continue
Right into the update

Nary is leading the first group to Victory Road
I’m at the Viridian gym
I’m not losing here, I brought all the Pokemon I could carry.
So let’s go

Asclepius pocketed his notepad and sent out Arugula. “Be ready to inflict status effects if something jumps out at us,” He told the Skiploom who chirped in response. He pointed at Cordon Bleu, making sure the Combusken remembered his earlier instruction. Cordon Bleu was to wait a few minutes before entering the gym and following a path made by the powder Arugula left behind. Asclepius made his way into the gym and found himself in a twisting dark maze. He and Arugula carefully searched their surroundings and worked their way past alternate routes and deadends until they found what they were looking for.
Giovanni.
As he always was.
In a chair, back turned to the room’s entrance, facing a wall of monitors displaying the gym’s corridors.
Even from just the back of the gang leader’s head, it was clear that Giovanni was losing his battle with the White Horse.
“Paean,” He slowly turns to face Asclepius. “I-” He was cut off as a jet of green and red gunk shot out of his mouth and coated Arugula. Asclepius immediately turned and shot the Skiploom before it could even realize that it was infected. “... I... Am so sorry. It.. wanted to be alone with you.... I would have.... Warned you…” Giovanni kept having to pause and take a breath while talking.
“How long do you have?” Asclepius asked, finally looking away from what had been his longest serving Pokemon.
“... minutes. I’m... appreciative that you... withheld from an.... ‘I told you so’...”
“You are dying. No one should be mocked in that situation even when it is due to their own overestimation of themselves,” He pointed his gun at Giovanni, but lowered it after a moment. “... I apologize for my previous attempts at using my gun on you,” The apology came to such a surprise to Giovanni he started to laugh until it turned into horrid coughing as bits of flem and blood flew out of his mouth.
“Ha ha.. ah.. No, it was... reasonably justified... “ He reached into his pocket and pulled something out of it. His arm shook as he worked it to hold out a small metal pin. The Earth Badge. “I... thought I could... do so much more... but it seems that was.... not to be.. so if you wouldn’t mind.... let me... help you... here at the... end of... both of our journeys.”
“... Of course,” Asclepius took the badge. “Farewell.”
“... heh.. and I…” Giovanni’s words grew fainter. “wish you... god... speed,” His arm fell to his side and the light faded from his clear eye as the infection at last consumed all of him. Asclepius stood and waited for a few minutes. As he did he reached into his pack and pulled out a tupperware and scooped Arugula into it. Once the remains were secured he turned to Giovanni’s body again as it slowly jerked to its feet. Awkwardly it turned itself to face Asclepius and opened its mouth.
“God of Healing,” It addressed him. “You know of me, but allow me to give a proper greeting. I am the White Horse.”
“I am not a god,” Asclepius replied curtly.
“Yet you named yourself after one.”
“He was mortal once.”
“But you are above such restrictions,” The White Horse spoke with no hint of the respiratory problems Giovanni had. But its voice sounded... Hollow. “So why insist on downplaying your abilities?”
“Because gods are as close to flawless as anything possibly could be. To call myself one would mean that I believe that I have overcome all my imperfections, which I have not. My namesake was mortal when he accomplished his greatest feat, and that is what I idolize. I am a healer, I will not let anyone be harmed so long as I can help it.”
“And yet you don’t hesitate to execute your own,” It looked at the gunk behind where Arugula had once floated.
“I can’t afford to hesitate. No matter the situation,” Asclepius said bitterly. He had more than enough instances to learn this. It was programmed into his reflexes whether he liked it or not. The White Horse stared blankly for a while.
“You know of my goal, correct?” It asked suddenly.
“To turn everything into an infected.”
“Well not everything. My kind requires there to still be uninfected present to create new hosts. But that is close enough…” It halted talking again as it practiced moving its host body. “Forgive me for being scattered, but I’m still growing used to having proper control over this form and the human brain is fascinating.... Anyway, my original point. I only fight to make sure my kind survives. Giovanni did so, and I respect him for it, but he only proved that humans will fall. Why not just let us reign? We can’t harm you after all, but we can multiply faster than you can exterminate us.”
“You’re asking that I ignore an omnicide.”
“Correct,” The White Horse sounded confused as to why Asclepius wasn’t convinced. “You’ve lived long enough, isn’t it clear how doomed they are anyway? I’ve had enough time to scour Giovanni’s memories to see the depths they fell to, so why keep them around?”
“You are comparing your weeks spent learning nihilism to my centuries of observing their persistence. You have a human form, but you haven’t had any human experiences.”
“And you have?” The White Horse’s complete lack of body language contrasted greatly with its highly curious tone.
“Of course.”
“But even you can’t claim to know it all. As Giovanni said, you will never know what it’s like to know you may die.”
“No,” Asclepius admitted. “But you certainly can.”
“Then why not show me with your gun? Why keep talking when you’re determined to never let me leave this room?”
“Because I don’t want to waste the ammo if I don’t have to, and I needed to make sure you never looked at the cameras.”
“What-” The White Horse didn’t have time to figure out what Asclepius meant before a fireball hit its chest, setting the undead aflame. Cordon Bleu had arrived just in time.
“You are dead, plain and simple. Just like Tabes and all the infected Pokemon and must be eliminated,” Asclepius said as the White Horse stumbled around while trying to put out the fire. “If you truly think you are destined to overcome humans, then you best survive this,” The White Horse only looked silently at Asclepius and opened its mouth wide to send more green and red projectiles out. Multiple hit Cordon Bleu and Asclepius’ gun had fired before he realized he pulled it and he cursed himself for wasting another bullet. Asclepius realized he wasn’t the target and a quick search showed that all the Pokeballs he kept in easy reach were unusable, the projectiles having broken them all, the Pokemon inside dead or trapped.
“I... Will... Survive...“ The White Horse spoke through the smoke caused by the flames now tearing through him. “Then... you.. will.. yield…”
“You are a disease. And if there is anything, anything, I won’t yield to, it is a sickness. I know better than to say you won’t return, but when you do I will be there. And I will be ready to do this all over again,” By this point, the White Horse couldn’t reply, so Asclepius watched as it collapsed and slowly wore down to ash. He didn’t use his last bullet to make sure things were finished. He could do that later. Right now, he had a vine to catch.

This ghost is happy with food, rest, quiet and cuddles. They may try to be edgy or mysterious, but are often told that they present as the opposite.
He had been gone for a bit, but it seems there wasn’t anything serious. A few scratches and a couple broken limbs from fending off the undead, but nothing that’s life or death.
i'm pleasantly surprised! i was honestly expecting there to be little remaining of Pallet dsfsdhfk
Asclepius found them a bit bland, but for everyone else they were dining on meals prepared by Siebold himself.
they get food!!! omg, please have nary survive so she can do more of this askjfhdksj don't you dare kill her off, i will be watching u
“... Paean, forgive me if this is rude but.... Just how old are you?”
“By this point, that number doesn’t have any meaning.”
awwwww D: poor bean
I was hoping that they still had some berry trees around, but it seems all of them were burned because they kept luring infected Pokemon.
Understandable but....
I just really love Watmel, and Kanto is one of the few places they’re found naturally so I wanted to see if any trees were growing somewhere.
*hugs nary tightly because she deserves it, and maybe someday she can get all the berries*
Paean coming across as a genuinely helpful person here, we stan xD he's going to get a lot of calls about therapy once (if...) the Pallet peeps hit the League
“... heh.. and I…” Giovanni’s words grew fainter. “wish you... god... speed,” His arm fell to his side and the light faded from his clear eye as the infection at last consumed all of him. Asclepius stood and waited for a few minutes.
...for a moment, for a moment I thought it would all be that easy
God of Healing,” It addressed him.
Hollow. “So why insist on downplaying your abilities?”
hahaha nope lkjjdfhkjdgh yeah it's never going to be that simple, is it?
“You are comparing your weeks spent learning nihilism to my centuries of observing their persistence. You have a human form, but you haven’t had any human experiences.”
“And you have?” The White Horse’s complete lack of body language contrasted greatly with its highly curious tone.
so much to like here! i love the details like the the lack of body language or respiratory problems, making this... thing so much more eerie sdjkfhdsf also, Paean's more human experiences like talking to people like Oak or Nary are coming back into play here, what an epic moment xD
