A new chapter begins! This one’s a doozy, with something like 1000 total screenshots? Those were fun to upload. I actually had to do it in chunks because my hand cramped up 600 screenshots in. Take care of yourselves, kids.
If that's true, she's got one heck of an origin story. Kept getting kidnapped, decided to take it out on the island...
Yeah, Stego is pretty strong! It's pretty generic, though, so I'm kinda glad it's really hard to get haha.
Don't worry, I've got plans! They're probably what you expect them to be.
Honestly, I hated Rosie way more before I started this run than I do now. She's just trying her best and I can vibe with that!
The game is RUDE I think this is actually one of the three times I've ever dug up a rare fossil, which should give you an idea of the odds.
She is pretty! I heart her.
Ducky is SO GOOD and I'm glad we have them.
I also don't drink coffee, but judging by the folks I know who do? Yeah it's 100% true.
OH NO I HADN'T EVEN CONSIDERED THAT BENJI COULD BE A BB but it's fine his last name is Wright
it was something like 12??? it was not very much. I'm still mad.
Yeah, I'm glad I haven't gotten any rares as my encounters. If I had gotten Saichan, though, I would've been in luck--it's much more common in the Volcano.
Me loving a Vivosaur so much that I don't want it to die is also why I'll eventually bench Tox. He's gotta hit rank 12 first, though!
When there are objective markers I always just look at those instead of anything else dskfnsafd. I like how they're implemented in this game, personally.
We'll just have to find out!
Since your Vivosaurs don't faint when you hit the turn limit, I would still count whichever ones are still standing as alive. Though if we're 12 turns in, I wouldn't expect all three to still be living.
Stego is a good Vivosaur!!!
New chapter means new title card! Hmm, I wonder what this one is alluding to…
Ah, that’s right, Rosie had asked us to meet her at the park.
Rosie, have you not rehearsed what you were going to say like three dozen times in your head before coming here?
Aww… that’s very sweet, Rosie. Benji’s happy to have saved you.
Mmmmnnnnnhhh…
I mean, there’s a distinct chance some of my commenters do… and I surely did when I was a kid… but…
You’re just a kid, too. Just making mistakes that happen to result in you being a curse magnet. And, frankly, that’s not something worth hating.
(The text said something to the effect of “Then that means you must like me!”)
Uhh I’m not sure if I follow the logic there, but sure, Rosie.
(There’s a distinct chance I’m too ace for this)
No need to be coy, Rosie, I’m pretty sure Benji really does like you.
To be perfectly honest, Benji is just as much of a curse magnet as Rosie is. His Vivosaurs just take very good care of him.
Hm? What could it be?
Well dawww. And that’s a wrap on the park scene! The screen fades to black and…
We’re back in the hotel room.
(Yes, as you may have noticed, the BB Boat was not at the park dock last night. It will not be returning; instead, you can just talk to Beth and she’ll send you on your way)
Hey, I remembered to screenshot the newspaper today! Nice.
Outside the hotel, some fighting fans come up to greet Benji. Sir, that, uh, doesn’t really sound like a sincere congratulations…
… Saurhead? Is he that one guy from waaay back in the prologue? With the dinosaur mask?
Oh. It ACTUALLY WAS.
Haha nice.
Yes, we gathered.
Jeez don’t these guys know Benji overthrew a criminal organization? Be a little nicer to the kid, sheesh!
Sorry bud, but the game’s not over ‘till the credits roll! And I’m pretty sure I need to get to Master Fighter for that.
Oh, right, the idols! The BB Bandits seemed to have been hunting for a fourth one, too… seeing as Benji always runs into them, he’ll be happy to help.
Idols, like other plot-important things, will show up as red blips on Benji’s radar.
Uhh, Diggins, there’s actually a giant rock in the way of the Dig Site entrance. Is there something you could do about that..?
Aaand he immediately ran off. Guess not, then.
Hmm, that’s ominous… I’m sure Benji will be fine though.
Back at Mt. Lavaflow! There’s still a giant rock.
Oh! Hi, Duna. Yeah, this rock has kinda been here for a while… wait what do you mean you can do something about it.
Me too, Benji, me too.
IS THAT A LASER BEAM WHERE DID YOU GET THAT
Uh. The rock is gone now. Good????????
That aside, we can now get to Mt. Lavaflow proper! It’s full of winding paths that are uncomfortably thin. There is lava right there, I do not like this. There are a few rocks that are blocking paths, too. The blurb DID say this place is prone to earthquakes…
There’s also this cave that I really want to get to but uh. I don’t trust Benji to make that jump.
Eventually, I find a cave I actually CAN enter! Because it’s a new area of the Dig Site, Benji’s able to grab a catch! Unsurprisingly, it is a fire type.
Unfortunately, there’s another boulder blocking the way. Seeing as Duna didn’t volunteer to destroy the last one, I doubt she’ll show up…
Oh! There she is. I’ll accept this sass if you’ll beat up this rock, thank you.
Hey, check it out! A red dot. I wonder what this could be…
Nice! Fourth idol obtained. That was… significantly easier than the other ones, huh!
… uh? No? Why???
But why do you want it anyways???
Uhhh that was weird. Duna what was that about????
UHHHH DUNA WHAT IS GOING ON???????
WAIT EXCUSE ME WHAT
WELP I GUESS THAT DUNA IS A DINOSAUR. COOL. COOL COOL COOL.
Look at those support effects, jeez! And what are these weird robot dinosaurs she’s teamed up with??????? Hopefully Garrett will be able to beat them…
Oh, whew, they don’t do much damage. This will be manageable.
Managed to get a fair amount of damage in that round. Hopefully we’ll be able to take this Dinomaton down quickly.
SO APPARENTLY ITS TEAM SKILL IS A LASER BEAM?? OK
(It doesn’t hurt too bad, thankfully)
Darn, that just BARELY didn’t kill. And now Duna’s out, so this thing is about to get a lot more deadly.
Or… not…
(What I’ve noticed in these late-game fights is that the AI seems determined to give the player a bit of an advantage. Not letting Duna’s support effects work is just one example, and I’ll bring up some others as they go along. It’s very interesting, and I wonder if it’s intentional or just an odd programming quirk.)
Oh for the love of--
Garrett, please target Duna next turn, thank you.
Much better.
Despite his best efforts, Tox couldn’t quite secure the KO. Sorry buddy!
Don’t want to deal with confusion next turn, so we’re doing this.
Duna fled to the EZ again, allowing for a Dinomaton to unleash another DEATH RAY. Yes that’s what the attack is actually called. I’m losing my mind.
Okay, as long as it can’t escape, let’s set up some poison.
… Huh. I guess they can’t get poisoned because they’re robots? That makes sense but I’m still annoyed.
Go get ‘em, Ducky!
DANG, nice! That’s the first Dinomaton down. Now to take care of Duna and the other one.
LMAO THE AUTO COUNTER WAS ENOUGH TO OFF DUNA. INCREDIBLE.
And that did it! Whew… but why on earth is Duna a dinosaur, anyways? And why did she attack us for the idol????
Wahey, Tox hit rank 12! That’s the highest rank a Vivosaur can achieve in this game. Now that he has, I may look into putting a different Vivosaur in his slot. I’m sure I’ll still use him some, though.
(You can’t tell, but the screen IS rumbling a lot)
Uh oh! That’s a rock. It blocks our way out AND it buried Duna… we better solve this quick!
… Except not really, ‘cause that’s where we’ll be ending this part! Join me next time for cliffhanger resolution.
ah, i see. she's the actual main villain.
If that's true, she's got one heck of an origin story. Kept getting kidnapped, decided to take it out on the island...
Man, I feel ya when two of your dead vivosaurs being used by your opponent. But, that quite solid choice for vivosaurs. That Stego actually quite tough customer too, judging from how much damage that it delivers to Elasmo. Ouch..
Right, I heard there a hopeless boss fight that you would met as the game progresses. How are you going to deal with that?
Yeah, Stego is pretty strong! It's pretty generic, though, so I'm kinda glad it's really hard to get haha.
Don't worry, I've got plans! They're probably what you expect them to be.
YOU REALLY DO. Lookit the tiny cute dino!
She's grown on me. I normally find her character archetype really annoying but she's had silly things happen to her and had some actual development and I dig it. (heh)
WTF game. What the actual F.
She's so pretty! Hello pretty new baby!
My child keeps being amazing <3
Honestly, I hated Rosie way more before I started this run than I do now. She's just trying her best and I can vibe with that!

She is pretty! I heart her.
Ducky is SO GOOD and I'm glad we have them.
I'm not a coffee-drinker, but this line seems accurate.
"You thought it was Incompetent Cop, but it was me, Secret Bad Guy!"but if bartholomew bullwort is the bb boss what does that make benji
And how much LP does the enemy Salto even have left!? The AI was out for poor Luke! 😭
In Pokemon, getting the less common Pokemon is usually a good thing, but in a game where encounters are so much harder to get, I can see how rarity can become a curse. >_>
We won't use you out of love. ❤️
Forgetting how to progress is valid. 😤 That's why I love games that have a "recap" system like Dragon Quest 11. Also, games with objective markers, like Monster Hunter Stories 2. :)
I wonder if Plant Guard is going to be a good Person Guard. 🤔 🤔 🤔
If you theoretically couldn't beat the Fossil Battle in the allotted number of turns, would it count as a wipe? 🤔 12 turns seems quite lenient, but something tells me this added bit of challenge is here to stay for these high-rank Level-Up Battles.
Diggins has good tastes. I love Stego too! 😍
I would love to see you do the post-game!
I also don't drink coffee, but judging by the folks I know who do? Yeah it's 100% true.
OH NO I HADN'T EVEN CONSIDERED THAT BENJI COULD BE A BB but it's fine his last name is Wright
