Ngl, posting about my current team seems to be bad juju sometimes, but Im gonna just roll with it. Playing White 2 Challenge Mode finally (I play cartridge on principle, and that meant borrowing my sister’s copy of Black 2 that she hasn’t played in 5 years to clear 5 gyms and the league in 3 days to unlock hard mode to trade that hard mode to White 2)

anway, currently grinding on the low leveled wild Patrat and Purloin on Route 19 to get EVs to survive against Cheren the Chernebog. Got a light military aesthetic going on with the naming

the team:

Turbine the Tepig. Female, Adamant Nature. Likes to Thrash About
I generally just save in front of the starter and keep rolling until I get something good, tbh. Yeah maybe that goes against the spirit of the challenge, but given that this is Hard Mode? I didn’t particularly feel any shame before, I sure won’t now. With that in mind, I wanted at least ONE IV to be above 30, if not more, with a good nature and for the others to not be utter bollocks. So I kept rolling until I got Adamant, 31 Attack, 20+ Hp, and at least 10 for every other stat (now at level 10ish, her SpA seems to be like 30, and Def 20). I don’t think I’ll ever NOT be paranoid that her not having perfect Defenses and/or Speed might get her killed, but I’ll just have to have a bit of faith.
As for Turbine herself, I imagine her as a bit of rodeo clown, wannabe sheriff type, with a mild Texan drawl.

Spyglass the Patrat. Female, Careful Nature. Proud of Her Power. Run Away
Hey, say what you will about Patrat and Watchog, Gen V STAB Tackle is Gen V STAB Tackle, and after the first gym she’ll have STAB Return, so that should help buy our team some time. I’ve actually used Watchog late game more than I really ought to, and it was better that I’d have thought. Not exactly GOOD, but it got the job done.
Spyglass is the kind of girl who mixes her own water, 2 parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. She can’t risk someone cheaping out and mixing in some Tritium to cut corners, y’know? Never mind that tritium’s more expensive, but you get the idea. Then again, being Paranoid has its advantages when everyone is trying to kill you…

Oliver the Sewaddle. Male, Serious Nature. Somewhat Vain, Chlorophyll
Sewaddle is honestly a Gigachad pre first gym catch. A base power 60 STAB move at level 8, with base 70 Defense. Watch out for flying and fire moves, and you’ll be just fine. Plus, Bug Bite should ruin Lillipup’s day by stealing that Oran Berry
I like to imagine that he’s got the voice of a crusty old Vietnam War Veteran. Not a shell shocked veteran, mind you, just a guy who’s seen some serious crap already even tho he looks like he’s about 3 years old.

Warlock the Psyduck. Male, Impish Nature. Somewhat of a Clown, Cloud Nine
Dang, not even a badge and I’ve already got a Grass/Fire/Water core. Not super thrilled with Impish nature on a Psyduck, but it’s not like he can’t learn or make use of any good physical moves. Ignoring Sandstorm chip damage and SpD Buff to Rocks is also always a nice bonus
I don’t have a good read on this guy yet. I’m not entirely convinced he’s playing with a full deck of cards, but I’m also not convinced that he isn’t somehow winning anyway.

I mean I’m not sure when exactly is the ending so I’m not sure if I should put this in the HOF thread, but here we have the team for a ROM hack I have decided to revisit.

Fred the Poliwrath, Brave natured
Yes, the first mon I got is also my MVP. I seriously don’t know how exactly is using a slow Water/Fighting is being this amazing, but it is! Monstrous stats, hits really hard, knows Drain punch for recovery, and is overall a blast!

Drake the Glaceon, Quiet natured
Spoiler alert: this is the only mon on this team who isn’t from gen1. I needed him for coverage, and he delivered really well. He hits really hard and is great at taking hits too. Although for some reason it can’t learn Ice beam in this game? Not that it matters as Frost breath and Hail+Blizzard works out just fine, but still!

Tiana the Butterfree, Bold natured
I used Butterfree in this hack previously and it ended up dying early on and for some reason it lacked Compoundeyes. But this one had it and she has been doing great things thanks to massively accurate Sleep powder. She also gives us solid coverage.

Mina the Muk, Naughty natured
I don’t know if Muk can naturally get Curse, but it’s been greatly beneficial to her thus far and with Toxic it has helped us greatly! Many opponents we would have otherwise struggled against were felled by her. She is definitely the second in hand MVP.

Ethan the Pikachu, Modest natured
Has been greatly bosted here by the way, in which he now has Speed boost and boosted stats on top of the Light orb. I have had a lot of fun using him especially since he can protect the team against many threats.

Ambe the Arcanine, Bold natured
Mostly here for speed and coverage, but hey, overally pretty good and helped us dispose of Electric mons because yes she is my best bet against those guys.

Not the one I’m documenting (I stopped documenting that one but the gameplay is still ongoing) this is a totally new one I started.

The naming scheme for this run is randomly generated words.

This is my current team, we just beat the Ghost gym so 4 badges in:

Current team
Spread the Meganium, Mild natured
Ice the Jolteon, Modest natured
Analyst the Steelix, Bold natured
Dine the Houndoom, Quirky natured
Bath the Swellow, Docile natured
Pluck the Hariyama, Impish natured

Reserves (I have much more but these are who I lean towards adding)
Coerce the Meditite, Impish natured
Muggy the Anorith, Jolly natured
Scary the Farfetch'd, Jolly natured
Stain the Geodude, Jolly natured
Director the Abra, Serious natured

Retired
Appeal the Beautifly, Calm natured

So far, I am impressed by literally everyone on my team. They all have been extrememly useful in one way or another and I feel great to have them. Shockingly, I’m actually on the verge of retiring Meganium. He’s been excellent, but he doesn’t really have much of a niche statwise and the only reason I need him is his status powers which I have better options instead. Still has been a very great mon to have though!

I am unsure whether or not the MVP should be Ice for his nature and being ridiculously powerful, or Dine for helping us greatly in the last gym. Or Swellow who has been nothing but a complete beast of a sweeper this whole time and Extremespeed which while kinda niche is also great.

If anyone wonders why Farfetch'd is among my reserves, this hack boosted it’s stats to usable amounts.

Why am I now the only person posting in this thread?

Not the one I am documenting! This is the other version.

I just got the 6th gym badge. Everyone except the last two are at level 42-43, I am currently grinding Pawmot and Leafeon from the 30s to that point.

Flynn the Skeledirge, Quiet, Good endurance.
Nelson the Mabosstiff, Impish, Highly curious.
Sawyer the Garganacl, Careful, Proud of it’s power.
Mia the Palafin, Gentle that I changed to Adamant, Takes siestas.
Block the Pawmot, Calm that I changed to Sassy, Takes siestas.
Guiseppe the Leafeon, Naughty that I changed to Adamant, Somewhat vain.

Guiseppe and Block are replacements for two team members who were killed fighting Ryme. It was also either Leafeon or Arboliva, and I figured we were gonna fight Nemona's Pawmot a lot later and one of my counters for that thing was one of the casualties. I also felt there were more slow team members than fast ones (I had planned to catch some fast mons but it seems like thay all either got bad natures or died) so yeah.

As for Flynn, was he as good as the starter I had in my Scarle run? I didn’t use him as much as I hoped I would yet, but so far I can definitely answer no. But he has been great thus far, he can take all sorts of hits and deal massive damage in return. He was especially good back as a Crocalor when there were plenty of stuff he could hit super effectively.

Everyone has been a lot of fun to use in general though, especially Mabosstiff who I used against way too many bosses through the game.

As for reserves: Chuck the Corvisquire, who I am most definitely gonna train up later as well, he’s gonna be used instead of Pawmot for the Psychic gym next. I also have a Shellos who is the most likely thing that I have caught who is gonna learn the Earthquake TM I got, but I don’t know if I’m gonna desperately need it for anything.

Now here is my team for my Dark Violet ROM hack Nuzlocke. Not to be confused with the main series game Violet, I completed that one. This is a ROM hack run.

We are at the city of the 4th badge, and are about to do the first Rocket base thing there. The team is all at level 37.

Yeika the Charmeleon
Chaz the Jolteon
Kari the Nidoqueen
Caroline the Hypno
Kel the Fearow
Herman the Victreebel

Ironically Charmeleon was close to being the weakest team member until she (thankfully!) learnt Flame burst. So now she is good enough to last until she evolves (I’m sure some of you are wondering why is it not evolved at 37, the hack increases some evo levels. Not that I’m complaining though.)
I was pretty unsure about Herman as he has (always had) really disappointing defenses and before he was fully evolved, too slow to work with all that. I ended up evolving him some time before heading onto the boat despite being worried about the fact that meant having Vine whip for a long time, but in a twist, he got Leaf tornado as an evolution level, so it was more or the best descision to do that. He’s overall pretty good now, even though I plan to replace him with my eventual surfer Water mon (I am not teaching Surf to Nidoqueen because mine has a special attack lowering nature)

Everyone else is outstanding though, especially Nidoqueen and Fearow, I don’t know which between them should I label as the MVP. I also wasn’t expecting to use Hypno because it’s a mon I normally overlook but then I figured a Psychic mon in this region would be really good and I also wanted a special tank. And then the one I caught ended up being Modest. And so far my Hypno has been really good in general and saved us many times.
