I get ya. I also don't like the map layout because closing off the central city of a map behind an obscure fetch quest and then riddling the map with tunnels to get around it... is not what I'd call good overworld design.
Literally or metaphorically? Because with this hack, it could be either.

...I'll be honest, I would take any advice Lance gave me with a grain of salt, especially if it involved running a country. I appreciate Glory wanting to throw Lance a rope, especially given all that's happened between them, but I'm not at all convinced that this is the best idea.
In my experience, Bulbapedia does not like it when you try to link to their image files.
Yeah, the Kanto tunnel system isn't my cup of tea either. The one big problem with Kanto's map is that it relies on too many tunnels to be intuitive.
My face when anyone expects anything in the Pokemon games to make sense. I mean, according to the Pokedex, Magcargo is hotter than the sun. THE SUN.
Also, in real life, genetically modified seed can be copyrighted. And seeds are, technically, living things. I don't think I've ever heard of...
