Sightings of them in the wild are rare, as they prefer to stay indoors with their art tablet and little siblings.
I didn't mind that Alola forms was Kanto exclusive. We've been seeing Kanto pokemon for years. It was nice to see them mixed up a little, made them feel a little fresher. I don't particularly care for any of them, but I appreciate the thought behind wanting to mix them up so it wasn't the same ol shit we've seen before.

I also still like Johto. Grinding and all. I dunno, it was just so inherently part of my childhood, my first actual pokemon game being a copy of crystal that could never save, that I just genuinely enjoy it.

I think the grindiness and limited dex of HgSS actually ADD to the Nuzlocking experience in a weird way. Specifically, the addition of so many good tms that can be easily re obtained gives otherwise average Pokémon a lot more options to play with. That Ledian you got could become a supporter with Dual Screens, or maybe it will be a Choice Specs user with Silver Wind and Focus Blast. Your Lanturn might be a Rain Dance Sweeper with Surf and Thunder, it might be a TWave Confuse Ray annoyer, or it might turn into a more unique set, like Stockpile + Charge Beam. While tms are more spammable in Gen v, HGSS makes them more exploitable

The grind is slow, yes, but the thing is, it’s a SAFE grind, in most cases. You can feel comfortable sending the new guy out to fight and bringing them back to safety, in most cases. This gives you more time to get attached to Pokémon you otherwise wouldn’t care about.

A married couple Nuzlocking together!
I LIKE how hard you have to work to breed competitive pokemon. Sure, there are some ways it should be made easier, but it means that when I finally have a team, it feels special and handpicked. Maybe a few details need to be tweaked, but I don't want it to be as easy as just leveling up a random mon and going for it, you know?

Adept at procrastination. If he ever seems productive, it's likely because he's ignoring something far more important.
I agree. And I feel like Gen 6 made it easy enough to achieve, anyway.

Just a guy with way to many ongoing Nuzlockes.
A bad Pokemon generation does not exist. Nor do bad Pokemon main series games. I used to complain about countless problems in the game/generations but now I stopped and I feel that people who do that are by far the worst aspect of the Pokemon fanbase. Every generation and game seems to have lot of work and effort put into them, and we should all appreciate all the good things they bring us.

I also believe that all non-gimmick creatures are usable to an extent. Sure, there are mons that I actually do find to be less than satisfactory and mons I just don't like but aside from all those guys, I wouldn't mind to use anything thrown at me.

I wouldn't go that far. There are plenty of valid complaints to make about any given game in the series. But people often go too far with their complaints, and reach the conclusion that something sucks because it's not perfect. Which isn't true. There's a lot of good in every game in the series, so if you can't think of anything good to say about a game, you're likely too negatively biased for whatever reason. So yeah. Complaints in moderation are fine, but if negativity is your default mode, then I don't see why you'd continue to be an active part of a fanbase.

can be bribed with shiny objects and spices to do household repairs. utterly incapable of many things, but does them anyway

I'd take this a step farther and say that most of the fandom misses the point of the Karen Quote when it comes to this, and it feels like it's either "this pokemon is irredeemable trash" or "all pokemon are equally viable" with no middle ground.

Like, yes, every pokemon can be viable, but you should still learn how to use them, what kind of team to build, and what they can and can't do compared to other mons. And even then, part of the reason that the games are easy is so you're not forced into optimal teams or massive amounts of grinding

as an aside i feel like most hacks and even USUM miss the point of this, like. you can't really make a pokemon game hard, you can only make it longer or more cheese-dependent; neither of which is fun

In my opinion, Eevee and its evolutions are a hard to pinpoint line and the apparently good ones are actually quite crap.

Sure, a few of them are pretty damn solid and having a guaranteed 130/110/95 spread on 3 stats is nifty, but as a whole they're not as good as people make them out to be, or at least the most commonly used ones or favoured ones.
I also hold this opinion, which I think is definitely an unpopular one. Espeon is literally the only Eeveelution I actually like, otherwise I think the rest of them are overrated. I'm not even really sure why they're so popular- I suppose because of the gimmick? I just don't get the hype.

So much this. There's a very good reason why I don't like drayano-styled hacks, since most of them just make things more tedious by giving every important trainer 6 pokemon with endgame movesets. for me it almost feels like the difficulty curves downwards in these hacks since all that really changes is that you get the same tools they do as you go along, on top of a few tools they don't get (badge boosts, EVs sometimes) At worst you just end up using toxic + heal spam through everything since there's nothing really stopping you from doing that, especially in later gens where money is pretty much infinite and especially in B/W onwards when sturdy exists.
I vastly prefer hacks that try to follow pokemon's vanilla difficulty, which very few hacks do. (I admit that a good 80% of my respect for flora sky is probably because of being on of the few hacks that mostly does despite aging like rancid milk) Just makes the ones that do like Zeta's touhoumon 1.8 revamp and Kanto Black stand out more for me as a result.

Also on the eeveelutions I'd more say that they just didn't age well. (outside of flareon and glaceon which got bad stat spreads and leafeon and glaceon again that got saddled by having to rely solely on weather) since they really haven't gotten much to keep up with everyone since the physical/special split. (eevee itself has gotten more, even discounting Lets GO) Espeon's the only one that notably improved with the addition of magic bounce and dazzling gleam (And umbreon receiving foul play to an extent) but even then the power creep ran the entire line over like a runaway freight train. There's also the baton pass issue but that only applies to singles (and in a comp situation) since baton passing was their biggest niche pre-ban for most of them.

Leafeon is one of the best Eeveelutions.

I've been playing through Platinum, and lost my grass type (because for some fucking reason Roselia is the only wild grass type you can expect to get before Pastoria), and because i needed one for Wake, I decided I'd try out Leafeon.

It is a physical fucking TANK. It can survive physical ice moves. It can survive Explosion. Like, legitimately the only problem with it is that you have to rely on Razor Leaf as the only physical grass move, because Leaf Blade is locked to end game in Gen 4. But Leafeon is actually amazing and everyone is sleeping on it.

I'm pretty sure most people who love the Eevee line don't love it primarily for its battle prowess (though I'd argue that most of them can work decently on the right team, so long as you're not trying to force them into OU in competitive). It's cute, and many of its evolutions are appealing in different ways, too. But even outside of that, Vaporeon's a solid Water pick (got HP for days and naturally learns a move to boost its weaker defense stat), Jolteon's a great Electric type (lacking in coverage, but that's pretty normal for Electric types), Espeon's a solid Psychic type (like Jolteon, it's fast and hits hard), Umbreon refuses to die (with a decent number of status moves to use that ability well), Leafeon's one of the better physical Grass types (though its level up learnset really needed the Gen 5 update to make it more usable), Sylveon's a tough special tank (95/130 is HARD to break through, even without any Calm Minds set up, and Charm can mitigate the physical weakness). The only ones that are "bad" are Flareon and Glaceon, and even they can do stuff (Flareon's a solid Psychic counter in Gen 3, since 110 Sp.Def isn't shabby at all, and Glaceon can KO most stuff in the game with a STAB Icy Wind into outspeeding with a STAB Ice Beam to KO).

People need to stop seeing everything that's outclassed by something else in some fashion as outright bad. Having 3 stats that are 65, 65 and 60 means that every Eeveelution will have weak spots. But most of them still fulfill their roles pretty well in spite of that. And they're cute. Which, as I said, is the main reason for their popularity.
