Some dude got stabbed with a sword and here this Pokemon is, alive, angery, and two days old
Yeehaw, welcome to GioGio's Bizarre Mafia! Where I try to pull my own Vento Aureo twist on a classic forum game and (probably) crash and burn!

First off, an intro by @TsubasaMiqo'te !

Mafia is an asymmetrical team-based game, where two sides try to figure out each other’s roles and eliminate players on the other faction. The two sides - Village and Mafia - each contain a different number of players, and have different abilities and rules governing then. The game takes place over alternating Day and Night phases, where in the night phase, the Mafia choose a player to kill, and then in the Day phase, all players vote on a player to lynch. No players may post in the thread during Nights (although they may talk through private messages), and some players may have unique abilities that can be used during the night. When killed, players lose the ability to post or interact with other players, and are instead left to cheer on their faction from the sidelines!

The Village has the larger number of players, and usually, none of their players will know each other. Usually, this faction contains roles that can learn the identity of other players during the night, and roles that can protect players from death.

A common strategy for the Village is to have one of their Power Roles claim in the thread during the day, and have every player other player message them with their role. This allows the Power Role to direct the other players on who to vote for based on this information gathered, and effectively decide on the day lynches as long as they stay alive. The Village wins when all Mafia players have been killed.

The Mafia has a smaller number of players, but each player knows the identity of other Mafia players. As well as being able to vote on the lynch each day, the Mafia can choose to kill one player every night phase. Usually, this faction contains roles that can disrupt the abilities of the Village Power Roles. They will want to target the players they think are most likely to be village Power Roles, based on discussion during the Day.

A common strategy for the Mafia is to “counter-claim” any claims in thread by a Village Power Role. This allows them to prevent the Village from organising, although it also puts one of their players at risk. The mafia benefits from the Village being unable to organise, as then they can gently push the lynch onto a player that isn’t with the Mafia. The Mafia win when they have the same amount of living players as the village.

In some games, there may also be a Third Party. The Third Party will usually have their own win condition unrelated to the other two factions, which may or may not end the game when it is fulfilled. Each Third Party plays differently and has different strategies, so you will need to think carefully about what your plan should be if you are one!

No matter which side you’re on, you should be making sure to pay careful attention to the thread during the Day phases, in order to notice anything out of the ordinary. Different players each have different “tells” as to whether or not they’re a Power Role, a Mafia, or just a Villager, and both sides will want to spot these in order to determine a plan of action.

Finally, emphasis should be placed on the fact that Mafia is very much a game, rather than a role-play. Players should make sure that they’re playing for their side rather than the side they think “should” win - but, most of all, they should make sure that they’re having fun! Respect other players, and make sure not to just rush into a plan because one person is talking louder than the rest. Good luck!

-Tsuby

Now, rule time!

SECTION 1: HOW TO PLAY MAFIA
  1. At the beginning of the game, each player will receive a role PM, telling them their role and (if they are Mafia) their teammates.
  2. The game is separated into two phases: the Day Phase and the Night Phase. The Day Phase lasts 48 hours, while the Night Phase lasts 24 hours.
  3. During the Night Phase, players whose roles have night abilities can respond to their role PM with their night action’s target. In addition, the Mafia can collectively choose someone to kill, sending their kill votes alongside their action (if applicable).
  4. During the Day Phase, all living players may post in the thread and discuss their next course of action. In a post, you may post “Vote: [player’s username]” to cast a vote to lynch that player at the end of the day. If one player has a 51% majority of the votes at the end of the day, then they are lynched and killed.
  5. When voting for who to kill at night, the Mafia will also determine who performs the kill. The visitor of choice will indicate that they are the one visiting. If no one is decided, the last Mafia member to send the PM will perform the kill instead.
  6. When a player dies, their role is revealed in the thread, and they are out of the game.
  7. The Town wins when all of the Mafia are dead. The Mafia wins when they make up 50% or more of the living players and all threats to them have been eliminated. Third Parties have their own unique win conditions explained in their role descriptions.
SECTION 2: WHAT NOT TO DO
  1. If you have a night action, and you do not send me an action or post in the thread for three consecutive phases, you will be killed for inactivity. If you do not have a night action, not posting for two consecutive day phases will have the same result. Players who are killed for inactivity do not win, even if their side does.
  2. Don’t metagame. This is something like “Oh, [username] is using the PM system shortly after the night began! They must have a night ability!” If you think something is metagaming, just ask me.
  3. Play for your side. Nobody likes that guy.
  4. Don’t post in the thread at night.
  5. Don’t post anything that could influence the game if you are dead. Something like “Bah, I died, go town/scum” is okay. Posting information you got is not.
  6. Don’t copy-paste or screencap anything from PMs, especially not from me. Otherwise, you could just instantly confirm yourself, and that would break the game.

Going off of Town of Salem roles, so here we go!

BRUNO BUCCIARATI (SHERIFF)
"This is the taste of a liar, Giorno Giovanna!"
The main Capo in charge! He also apparently can detect lying via licking the sweat off of people's faces.

Each night, Bruno can promptly walk up to a person and proceed to lick them, determining if the licked person seems innocent or not.

GIORNO GIOVANNA (DOCTOR)
"I, Giorno Giovanna, have a dream that I know is just."
Giorno Giovanna, the featured Jojo (or Giogio) in this part. His stand, Golden Experience, can transform regular objects into living creatures.

Giorno can heal a single person each night, preventing them from dying. He can heal himself, but only once. He will know if his target has been attacked.

GUIDO MISTA (VETERAN)
"We'll end it right here, right now. Time to bust a cap in his mouth!"
The signature gunman of the Bucci Squad. His stand is Sex Pistols, which are six tiny people that can kick bullets to change their direction entirely.

Mista can choose to be on alert at night time. While he's on alert, he cannot be killed. If anyone tries to visit Mista while he's on alert, they will be shot and killed. Mista can only be on alert three times in the game. Mista is immune to roleblocks.

NARANCIA GHIRGA (ESCORT)
"The 9th circle of hell! He's headed for the 9th circle of hell, according to this name divination!"
Narancia is a fun loving, fun having dirty boy. His stand is Aerosmith, a small airplane that can shoot small bullets.

Every night, Narancia can send out Aerosmith to pester and annoy someone so much, they cannot perform their action. He is immune to roleblocks.

LEONE ABBACCHIO (INVESTIGATOR)
"Stupid shit? No. This has to do with my safety. I can’t just carelessly reveal my Stand ability in front of a stranger I can’t trust. Bucciarati, I don’t know what made you trust this guy, but I don’t consider him a part of the team."
A disgraced former cop, Abbacchio is a cynical man who would rather stick to orders rather than live recklessly. His stand is Moody Blues, a stand that can trace a person's actions from a certain timestamp.

Every night, Leone Abbacchio can use Moody Blues to gather at least a hint as to a person's role.

PANNACOTTA FUGO (BODYGUARD)
"Ferocity is when you attack explosively, and then disperse like a storm..."
Branded a traitor, guilt-ridden Fugo has become determined to make up his betrayal by striving to protect his gang. His stand is Purple Haze, a monstrous stand with the ability to spread a flesh-eating disease, which not even Fugo is immune to.

Every night, Fugo can protect one person with Purple Haze. If someone tries to attack his target, he will take the attack, causing him and the attacker to die instead of the target. If he successfully protects someone, he cannot be saved from death.

VINEGAR DOPPIO/DIAVOLO (GODFATHER/WEREWOLF)
"DORURURURURU! RURURU!"
"This is a trial...a trial from the past that I must overcome!"

Doppio and Diavolo. Two sides of the same coin. Diavolo is the boss of passione, and Doppio is his easily angered underboss. Diavolo takes pride in his privacy and kills anyone who would be considered a threat to it.

During the night, Doppio/Diavolo can communicate with the mafia, and chose who the mafia should kill. Now, because Doppio really just looks like an innocent looking boy, he'll appear to Bruno as innocent. However, Diavolo can't stay inside forever. When Diavolo comes out, it will be announced. If anyone tries to visit Diavolo while he's out, they will be killed. (This excludes communicating with the mafia, of course)

TIZIANO (FRAMER)
"We suffered some wounds, but the boss should be pleased with our performance..."
Tiziano works alongside his partner, Squallo, to help do Diavolo's bidding. His stand, Talking Head, can attach underneath tounges, causing the victim to only speak in lies.

Every night, Tiziano can stick Talking Head on whoever he chooses for the night, causing the victim to appear guilty to Abbacchio or Bruno. If Diavolo dies, he has a chance of becoming Diavolo if no mafioso are alive.

CIOCCOLATA (CONSORT)
"Let me see the look on your face at the moment your hope burns out... and your life reaches its end! Show me your despair as you fall! "
A diabolical doctor who takes joy at seeing people in pain. He performs surgery on perfectly healthy patients, and purposefully limits their anesthetics. Even Diavolo cannot stand him.

Every night, Cioccolata can distract a person from their role by... Oh. Oh god. Jesus. You know what? I'm not going to mention it, he just roleblocks people and cannot be roleblocked.
If Diavolo dies, he has a chance of becoming Diavolo if no mafioso are alive.

OTHER MAFIOSO
Mafia members who do not have a role are Mafioso. They will simply follow the killing order of Diavolo. If Diavolo dies, they will become Diavolo.

TRISH UNA (SURVIVOR)
"I, too... can overcome... the fate I inherited from you... I will not cower or flee! If you try to stop me... I shall soar beyond you."
Trish is the daughter of Diavolo. This being said, she's the main target of many attacks on passione, to the point where the first mission of Bruno as a capo was to keep her safe. Her stand is Spice Girl, who has the ability to soften objects.

Trish can decide to use Spice Girl at night, turning weapons into rubber and protecting her from attacks. She can only do this four times in a game. Trish can win alongside anyone else who wins if she makes to the end of the game alive.

CARNE (JESTER)
"That pitiful man. He was used and abandoned like an old rag. He died with hatred in his heart. That hatred is his energy. An energy that activated for the first time when he died. An energy that not even he had ever seen before he died. Nothing can kill him anymore because he is a corpse. " -Notorious B.I.G, about Carne
Carne is a simple stand user, who's stand activates when he dies.

Carne's main goal in life and this game is simple: get lynched. If Carne is lynched, his stand, Notorious B.I.G., will kill one person of Carne's choosing, bypassing protection and roleblocking. After this, he wins the game, alongside anyone else who wins.

god i've missed this, in

OH ALSO, since this game seems to use ToS roles instead of epicmafia roles, allow me to clarify the roles in epicmafia terms so that our community who are more familiar with those can understand them better:

Bruno - Cop
Giorno - Doctor (buffed; can protect himself and is notified if his target was attacked)
Mista - Kind of a Granny? The closest thing I can think of is the Mitsurugi role from Soul Calibur Mafia
Narancia - Village sided hooker whose role has an actual name but i can't remember it rn
Abbacchio - Detective except i guess doesn't really learn the full role
Fugo - Bodyguard

Doppio/Diavolo - Godfather, and I'm actually not sure about what the rest of the role does. @DoctorRosalia, can you clarify what Diavolo "coming out" means in the context of the game?
Tiziano - Framer
Cioccolata - Hooker

Trish - Survivor with self protection
Carne - Fool

@Alolan Floatzel I’d be glad to!

Diavolo “coming out” is like a full moon in ToS. Diavolo can’t actually control it, but everyone will be notified if Diavolo’s out.

Edit: Better explanation of Doppio/Diavolo:

When questioned by Bruno they’ll seem innocent, but also orders kills for the mafia. When Diavolo’s out, anyone who visits him will be killed.

In. I haven't played mafia or even ToS in a long while, so here's hoping I haven't gotten too rusty.

I’m just double checking a ruling can consort roleblock a veteran or does veteran shoot them? Just asking because I was discussing the roles with someone who used to play tos and they said veteran overrules consort and kills them. Thanks in advance.
